Aamir on why we can't make a film like Inception

Very well Said AK! Movies like inception should never be made ESPECIALLY by Bollywood makers.

Thanks Zareena, this si really interseting. ANd i agree quite a lot iwth Aamir's points.

Me and my friend often talk about this rift between hollywood and bollywood. That why is it that hollywood makes these great movies sometimes, and for bollywood, we're limited to pretty much the same old stories. We're sterotyped as the song and dance industry. Sure we have some new ideas and films being made now and then, but they dont do well, and are not even comparable to something liek Inception, or the Matrix, or INglorious bas***ds.

And just like Aamir said, you have to keep the audience in mind. I dont know if a desi audience will even be able to UNDERSTAND inception. I mean they woudl enjoy the effects and stunts and whatnot, and obviously some will understand the film completely. But the majority will most probably write the film off as "stupid" "unrealistic" or say it dient make sense. Even with a film like matrix.

I cant imagine the aunties sitting there following such films along.

Its unfortunate.

y is it unfortunate?? everyone has their own taste! all my friends who are ozy r not fond of movies like the matrix either, sum peeps do not like movies with concepts that are so unimiaginable to execute, and on top of that a movies which drags that 'idea' and extends it until your mind explodes!! i feel that maybe the indian audience is more 'emotionally intelligent!' I agree wid aamir but i dun feel bollywood is behind---every cinema has its own speciality, no movie can entertain me more then a bollywood movie!! and i relly dun see how the movies like matrix which r soo intricate can make a difference--the concept is brilliant--it makes us understand how we r stuck in a matrix---but making like 5 movies of the same concept and going crazy wid the idea just kills it!!

I completely agree with Aamir, Indian makers don't imagine first before executing and Hollywood makers first imagine and this is a huge Difference. I am starting to dislikes film makers like Kjo, i don't know what is he doing? I feel he just wants to change himself and move away from Candyfloss. I completely hate when indian makers make Hollywood Classics. Why can't they make something original. It's sad small budget making good movies like movie Aamir(heard a lot about it), Udaan, A wednesday, Black Friday, Rain Coat, Chameli. Why does someone has to make which is already been made? Pick a famous novel, make it from there, like Sonam Kapoor's Aisha. Atleast we have something new to expect. And that is why Hollywood is Far Ahead in that department.

Amazing response by Aamir! Every word is true specially the "We are not able to imagine only.". But I appreciate how he conveyed why Bollywood can't make such films but he does not belittle the industry. His explanantion is spot on, we have our own circumstances and our own audience and that is who we need to cater too. But well maybe in the distant future things will change and Bollywood might churn out something that is conceptually as amazing as Inception.

He ticks me off with his arrogance sometimes but I sure as hell admire the movies he does/makes and his intelligence in general is commendable.

very well said Amir! bang on! Indian films do have a long long way do go before they can come up with something like Inception/Avatar...Just imagine Inception with song/dance and love story.

I liked wat he said about the freedom of creativity in Hollywood. That they come up with the most bizarre stories...which we can't even begin to imagine.

But BW is taking baby steps... there is A Wednesday, TZP,
Lagan,...what have you?... Its changing but there is a really long way to go.
