Since there's one for Ash and Kareena, I thought of making one for Rani, Preity and Kajol. 😉 Some of them had been made before, but since we have new members around, I thought why not again.

I excluded Black intentionally (as every single votes would have gone to that). I might end up making a countdown (video) with her top ten performances.

KKHH (Tina) - 1998

Saathiya (Suhani) - 2002

Chalte Chalte (Priya) - 2003

Yuva (Sashi) - 2004

Hum Tum (Rhea) - 2004

Veer-Zaara (Samiya) - 2004

Bunty aur Bubli (Bubli) - 2005

KANK (Maya) - 2006

LCMD (Vaibhavari) - 2007

DBH (Veera) - 2009

You forgot Sonam- this forum is about Kareena, Ash & Sonam.
its Sashi in Yuva for me. She was brilliant as the strong woman, completely in love with her husband but still helpless and frustrated by his unwillingness to change.
The best scene was when he beats her and she stares at him almost a strong cold stare. And also when she announces that she had aborted the baby, she potrayed vulnberability of that moment really well.
I wish she had won more awards for this role.

Please read the topic. It explicitly stated that I excluded Black intentionally. If you feel that Black was Rani's best performance - then go for what was her second best one.

For me:

1) Veer-Zaara: Being neither Veer, nor Zaara, she stood out into the film, and stole the show for me. A role that required brilliant acting and great potential. A role completely different from what Rani has done so far.

2) Hum Tum: This movie defined Rani in my opinion. She portrayed almost every shades through her role of Rhea. Starting from the tomboyish girl to the loud, hyperactive woman who is about to get married, to a calm and silent widow, to the typical romantic heroines - she portrayed it all through this role, and that too with great perfection. I especially loved her in the second half of the movie (right from the scene where she says "Sameer is no more in my life") - a very subtle and restrained performance of a widow (compared to what she did in Babul/Babool for instance), and a contrast to her earlier self in the movie. Her performance may look ordinary from the outside, but it has depth if one watches the whole film.

3) Saathiya: A very well done performance of a wife who looses everything in the process of her marriage. Another role that she nailed very well. The pain, anguish, jealousy, insecurity, etc, basically everything a woman faces after her marriage - she portrayed it well.

4) Chalte Chalte: She not only looked hot, but gave a top-notch performance here as well. Though the role was similar to that of Suhani (Saathiya), she differentiated it with ease and blended in very well.

I have not watched Yuva (which seems to be her best work).

As a relatively new actress, she was decent in KKHH, and was able to stand up to established actress like Kajol. There wasn't much for her to do in B&B except for looking ravishing and acting like a bubbly, chirpy woman - which she did. She was decent in LCMD and DBH. The only movie where I felt she did not show her full potential and resorted to shedding tears after tears instead of actually acting will be KANK.
