Every generation has its own actresses-at-war scenario. Not nice for them maybe, but we, the audience, are loving it. This year, and we think the next few, are all about the Katrina Kaif-Deepika Padukone competition. They have many things in common, besides Ranbir Kapoor and the Bangalore Royal Challengers, and this has only made the situation spicier. We like! But this face-off is not a one-round contest and is going to be played over many levels and rounds. We tell you who is going to roll with the punches and who is going to get knocked out.

Ranbir swept Deepika off her feet and then dumped her like a sack of potatoes when she started talking commitment. He'd already met Katrina during a shoot by then.

It may have been the break-up that prompted it, but by Masala!'s fickle heart, does Deepika look HOT! Shorter hair, sexier clothes, more toned, confident and sensuous, Deepika is showing Ranbir just exactly what he said no to. Not that Kat is bad looking. On the contrary, she is drop-dead pretty! But there is no denying the fact that the girl has not changed a thing about herself since 2003, except losing some weight.

Round 3
Maybe the divine beings up there do have a fabulous sense of humour. How else can one explain that both Deepika and Katrina are the brand ambassadors of Vijay Mallya's Royal Challengers Bangalore?! But it must be fate that EVERY time Bangalore gal Deepika attends a match RCB wins, and on the two occasions Kat joined the fans, RCB lost. Vijay's heir Siddharth minced no words when he called Deepika his team's 'lucky mascot'. In fact, the Mallyas seem determined to extend her association with their F1 team Force India, and she is now all set to attend the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore.

It's rumoured that Deepika is all set to star opposite, Kat's ex-BF, Salman Khan, in the sequel to his blockbuster Partner! If this rumour turns out to be true then it is the icing on Deepika's cake. And what a pairing indeed!

Round 5
Going by the number of co-stars in hand, Deeps is waaay ahead of Kat. So far Deeps has acted with SRK, Saif, Akki, Farhan, Imran and Ranbir and is now all set to star opposite Hrithik in the sequel to Krrish. Add to that the Salman rumours! The only big names missing are Aamir and Shahid. Katrina however has, to-date, worked only with Salman, Govinda, Akshay, Ranbir and John.

Masala! verdict...
Rajneeti may just put Kat ahead of Deepika, but only at the box office. But in every other arena we see Deeps knocking Kat out.
