Now watch him enact an out and out action role in EK AJNABEE," Jaspreet Singh Walia, brother of Bunty Walia, exclaims proudly. After a brief hiatus, the Walias have stepped into the film production arena with EK AJNABEE, which was filmed at a lightening speed in Bangkok. "We started shooting on May 27 and are releasing the film on December 9," Jaspreet sounds euphoric.
The Walias and their director of EK AJNABEE, Apoorva Lakhia, were willing to wait for the Big B [he is busier than most stars] than opt for any actor in the central role. "I don't think any other actor could've done justice to the character. Let me add, the wait was worth it, for EK AJNABEE would rank amongst Mr. Bachchan's finest works in recent years," the youngster adds.
The makers chose Bangkok over other locations primarily because Bangkok wasn't captured so extensively on celluloid in the past. "Haven't Bollywood film-makers captured U.S.A., U.K., Switzerland and Mauritius in film after film? We wanted to give our film a distinct look and Bangkok gelled with our script beautifully," he discloses.
Jaspreet is least perturbed by the fact that two Big B starrers [EK AJNABEE, FAMILY – TIES OF BLOOD] are releasing close to each other. "There's a 2-week gap between EK AJNABEE and FAMILY. Besides, I'd like to add that EK AJNABEE is different from the other projects that Mr. Bachchan has been associated with. In fact, Mr. Bachchan will be seen in an action role after a substantial gap," he smiles.
Bunty and Jaspreet are now planning to start JUST PUNJABI, with Apoorva Lakhia once again in the director's seat. "We hit off very well with Apu. He is a cool dude to work with and most importantly, has delivered more than we expected. That explains why he has been entrusted the directorial reins of our next film as well," he reveals, adding that the star cast of this film is under finalization.
