Another new angle to this -

Security diversion for MNIK led to Pune blast, says Bitta

February 17, 2010 15:41 IST
http://news.rediff.com/report/2010/feb/17/german-bakery-mnik-security-diversion-led-to-blast.htm

The diversion of security to protect the Shah Rukh Khan [ Images ] movie My Name is Khan offered an opportune moment for the Inter-Services-Intelligence to engineer the terror attack in Pune, chairman of All India [ Images ] Anti-Terrorist Front M S Bitta alleged on Wednesday.

"The ISI capitalised on the prevailing situation to strike in Pune where the security infrastructure was lame," he told a press conference in Pune. Bitta who visited the blast victims at a city hospital, said Pune is a big city in India and a leading educational and economic hub and the masterminds of the German Bakery blast had designs to harm that status. "Beefing up security in Pune after the blast is nothing but a farce. Why did the government not do so earlier in view of the burgeoning proportions of the city ?" he asked and blamed politicians for playing "politics over the dead bodies."

Bitta also criticised the Shiv Sena [ Images ] and Maharashtra [ Images ] Navnirman Sena for their "divisive politics" and said that was precisely what Pakistan wanted. He demanded immediate hanging of Pakistani gunman Ajmal Kasab [ Images ] and Afzal Guru involved in the Parliament attack and constitution of Anti-Terrorist military court to try cases on fast track.

A reaction from a Rediff.com reader :
1) Inspite of achieving all success as \"Rahul \" in different movies he has started taking political stands for Talibans- blaming non muslims.
2) Inspite of having loyal audience of Mills and Boons veriety- he is regularly mouthing \"Inshallah\" in TV shows.
3) Inspite of being RAM in \" Main Hu Nan\" he shows hindus as villians in Indo Pak war.
4) Shiv sena has 40 years of decent relations with filmstars- But SRK rocked it too hard.
5) SRK should never have praised Pak after 26/11 as a Mumbaikar.
6) Selcting Paki players or praising them was also insensitive.
7) One can bribe somne scribes and get praises - but what if it goes to head ?
8) Result is visible - yesterday a new animation movie \"Koochie Koochie Hota hai\" featuring a dog in SRK role got announced....

One fails to understand what drives an educated wealthy, successful person to go from a role model to such level of fundamental shift down hill.

Another reaction (Someone said that MNIK was responsible for the Pune's victims ----)
SRK - To all my Low life Fans ...
by Almighty on Feb 18, 2010 02:34 PM | Hide replies

Thanks for watching my movie MINK. Ok.
I must confess, johar was very worried as
he had doubts about the success of his offbeat
dumb movie, with insipid story....but i assured him..main hoon na.

So I created that hype after arousing enuf suspicion in that gora security officer in new york airport to detain me, then used it to create big controvery in media, both for me and the movie - MINK (wink wink)

And of course shiv sena controversy was god sent, I was told to apologise and end the matter by johar, but I decided, it was worth milking this further...and what a way it went
people were fighting with Shiv sena to watch the movie after paying hundreds of bucks..

I just luv my fans...they will watch any movie
as long as i'm in it. You see I have only 1500
crores , My humble aim is to make another 1500 crores ....and I know my fans are their besides IPL moolah. Its a great life...thanks to my dumb fans ...inshalah.

Controvery left me numb says Shah Rukh Khan, refuses to apologise
Mumbai: "Numb" was the word actor Shah Rukh Khan used to describe his state of mind during the raging controversy over the release of his latest film My Name is Khan, following Shiv Sena protests here.
The 44-year-old superstar said that what hurt him the most was the fact that his "Indianness" was questioned again and again.

The actor said that he would have apologised to the Shiv Sena if it was the content of his film that they found offensive, but did not do so because he didn't understand the "logic" behind their anger.

"If they had a problem with my film, I would have apologised. I have done so earlier because I do not want to offend anyone with my films, my aim is to entertain. But this was about who I am as a person and my Indianness and I was hurt that I had to clarify it again and again," said Shahrukh in an interaction with Star News.

The Shiv Sena had launched an attack on the actor after he supported the inclusion of Pakistani players in the IPL and threatened to disrupt MNIK's release in Mumbai.

The actor was on a whirlwind world tour when the controversy escalated and lead to violence in Mumbai.

"I just wanted to rush back home....It was like living in a bad dream and I was constantly worried that someone might get hurt, because I want my film to make people happy, that is all I want," said Shah Rukh.

The film had a limited release in Mumbai and Gujarat last Friday, but opened to full houses across the rest of the country and received positive reviews.

The actor said that he has "great respect" for the Sena leaders who attacked him over his IPL comments, but feels that politics and patriotism should not have been mixed with entertainment.

"They are much older than me and I have great respect for them. But I did not understand why was the film dragged in between. I am one of those who believe that entertainment and politics should not be mixed.

"I did not understand why was my Indianness questioned. My father is a freedom fighter and I am proud of that," said the actor.

Shah Rukh who thanked his fans for supporting him and his film, said that he often unwittingly courts controversy.

"Controversy seems to have become my middle name. My wife has advised me to steer clear of any dialogues written by myself," he said.

It was wife Gauri Khan, who along with daughter Suhana went out to theatres to gauge the public's reaction on the film's release day, that kept the actor posted on all the developments.

"I was in constant touch with Guari and she told me that my fans were coming out to watch the film and were liking it. I have to thank my fans for it all," said the actor.
