But you cant compare Martin Luther King to SRK. SRK is just an ordinary bollywood actor, he isn't out to fight for people's freedom and rights. Anyway, it seems whichever way he goes, the guy loses. Sad.

Adios- I saw Jaya's interview. I was constantly irritated by her weird smile there to those question 😆

I know -- I juwt wanted to highlight that ONE person can make the difference - if anyone goes : oh let's just mind our own business - nothing can't evolve or move......😆😆😆
Yes whatever SRK says it becomes a Hindi TV Drama...🥱

Guys WAKE UP, the issue is not about Sena - its about supporting Pakistan.

I am Indian and I support Pakistani artists and players and I want peace between our countries! SRK is Indian and he has the right to feel similar.
You don't think that many Indians feel this way. SORRY to say but they do and that does not make them any less Indian ....GOT THAT!!!

Kudos to Shah Rukh Khan

There comes a time in life, when an inner voice urges you to give back. One can either stand up at that point and decide to act, or carry on with life's pursuits. The question is, when you do decide to stand up for what you think is right, is your spine strong enough to bear the weight of your beliefs and convictions?

I have always been an idealist, always made an attempt to speak out, but there was a time when one just couldn't be heard. Fortunately, social media platforms like Twitter and the media have changed all that, empowering the average citizen with a voice. And it's this voice that is beginning to make a difference.

Being from a third generation armed forces family, I have been raised with a strong sense of discipline, integrity and a very clear value system. The army is an organisation that to me represents the highest order of ethics and morality. The principles and ideals I live by are a result of my upbringing in the armed forces' environment of justice, integrity and propriety. These principles took a hit when the institution that gave me all I have appeared to be shaky on integrity.

What sets the armed forces apart from the rest of society is not that nothing wrong can happen within its confines: after all it's made up of elements from society, but that justice and retribution is swift, when such wrong comes to light. When this differentiating factor doesn't hold good, my conscience goads me to speak up.

The Sena war cry of Mumbai for Marathis is also a violation of an ethical and moral code of conduct. Denying an Indian citizen a right that is guaranteed by the Constitution is against the law and just not acceptable. Sure, the Mumbai infrastructure is overburdened (not just due to the influx of migrants) but so is the case with a city like Delhi. One doesn't find such madness there.

The Shiv Sena's use of the "Marathi Manoos" agenda to exhort violence and hatred cannot be exonerated. Sadly, the state's record in protecting its people (read common man) against such acts of intimidation, violence and hooliganism is dismal. How can anybody deny a constitutional right and get away with it? How can anybody break the law? Again and again?

Shah Rukh Khan is an Indian citizen and has the right to free expression. How can that be questioned, debated or even politicised? And yet it's become a huge issue with reams of newsprint and prime time being dedicated to it. Kudos to him for not bowing down to the powers that be. Perhaps, the fact that the fate of his film is in question is incidental.

The film industry so far has not taken a united stand. That's because the state government's past record, once again, is abysmal as far as providing security to the industry in such matters is concerned.

The issue however is much larger than a film. It's about upholding the Constitution of India. Are the thousands of migrants living and working in "unsecure" (when compared to Mannat, Khan's house) areas expendable? Do their battles not deserve our support? Where is the justice of it all?

I was brought up to speak up and stand up for what is right, even if it's unpopular. I am fortunate indeed to be where I am today, but what good would that be if I didn't raise my voice against issues that bother me, bother us? I might as well be an uneducated, unaware woman living in my village in Punjab! Which I might have been were it not for an accident of birth.

Being honourable and upright is not an accident but a choice. A choice we all can make to collectively alter the course of our nation. No issue is too small to stand up for and certainly no issue too big. If a million issues found a million voices, how could it not make a difference? Being upright is no longer the prerogative of our elders; with the majority of our population being "young", the mantle is now on us. Because we the young, the youth, are the future of India. Are we going to allow this glorious future to be derailed by lapses of our collective conscience? It's time to stop being on the sidelines. It's time to stand up for what is right. It's time to get involved.

Yesterday I tweeted to Prannoy Roy and Rajdeep Sardesai. And I sent them the topic as well --- 😊 I know some SRK's fans have been tweeting to Oprah Winfrey - Elle Degeneres - Georges Clooney - Eva Longoria all day long and to other celebs as well......
I know even people who don't like SRK have been tweeting for the past two days #MyNameIsMumbai #supportsrk #ourmumbai #Mumbai4all
I don't compromise on Freedom matters --- my ancestors fought for me to be free and proud --- I can't let this down ...That's too serious...SRK only expressed his views and politely...he didn't insult anyone...
If nobody moves - then SS will keep threatening people --- And yeah that's a pity that the support comes from out of BW but I guess it's even for the better - those people don't have credibility for me...in general...

If SRK stands by his own words --- other people be them celebs or regular ones will do the same in India -
Unfortunately I'm french not Indian - and If I was in India - I would have demonstrated --- Have already done it as a student and my face was shown on camera ----
If SRK says SOMETHING he has to ASSUME that people will hear his words and he KNOWS that his comment would have provoked reactions - c'mon he's not naive and he's not stupid - what I say is what is the purpose of stepping back now when you've already voiced your opinion...🥱
i'm not asking SRK to be the Last Mohican ---- just stand by his words - if he cannot --- he would have just shut up and that's my point of view no need to attack me - I can like SRK and disagree with him that doesn't make me a bad person --- - Does that?😆
SRK is a strong man - he's not a baby...he knows how to defend himself...
Accept the fact YOU just don't know me - so YOU do not know what I've gone through in my life and what my struggles are made of --- so please don't get into this --- Thanks 😛
SRK doesn't need to fight for India or Mumbai - He has to fight for himself ---- Not for me ---- but just for himself....A man stands by his words...same goes for a woman...if he can't --- he shouldn't have said a word !
If you can't accept my opinion - send the link to SS...😆 Because it seems that they can't accept SRK's opinion as well....
I don't fear death or suffering --- the only power is in everyone's mind...not in fights and irrelevant arguments....
Power is to stand by to what you believe in even if in your inner self you're scared to death - that's the real power.
SRK is scared for his loved ones but I know he'll go through...after all he had to fight against he will stand up for his right.

Oh cmon, let the man defend himself. It will only bring in India one step closer to progress. Why doesn't any other ordinary man speak up? Well it's simple: it's because not every other man has access to the media and not every other man is as powerful as the SRK. If this was an ordinary man on the street, so far the Shiv Sena goons would have killed off him and his family to silence them, but since it's SRK, a well known figure, he has benefits over others which he could utilize.
At the end, it'd be SRK's choice to take an action, but his fans should not get defensive because nobody will blame him for the route he picks. He's a grown man, and knows how much wings to spread.

look who's supporting SRK- Salman Khan

For Shah Rukh, one roar, a few tweets and a lot of silence in BollywoodPost CommentLarger | Smaller Harneet Singh

Mumbai:

As the Shiv Sena continues its attacks on Shah Rukh Khan, the Hindi film industry, which prides itself on being a "fraternity", has largely shied away from publicly standing up for him — supportive tweets from some stars notwithstanding.

The Indian Express put two questions to a host of Bollywood personalities: 'What do you make of the Sena vs SRK controversy?', and 'Why is nobody speaking for SRK?'

A few got back, some promised to but didn't, the rest remained incommunicado.

The person who came out loudest and clearest in support of Shah Rukh was Salman Khan, a man who has recently had very public differenceswith SRK.

Said Salman, "I think what Shah Rukh said was that the Pakistani players should have been included in the IPL. If I'm not mistaken even our Home Minister P Chidambaram said the same thing. Sports and politics are two different things. In cricket, the only thing you hit is a ball. A sporting field is all about sportsmanship, sports is such a wonderful leveler that both winners and losers shake hands in the beginning as well as at the end of the match."
Asked why he was backing his "friend-turned-foe", Salman said, "That's because Shah Rukh hasn't said anything wrong. What should he apologize for? My Name Is Khan should be released for sure. It has to. As an industry we pay huge entertainment tax to the government and we entertain the people also. We don't think like politicians. I anyway don't understand this whole thing of taking a morcha and going to somebody's house."

(The Shiv Sena has been vandalising posters and hoardings of MNIK, warning theatre-owners not to screen the film, and tried to go to SRK's home with a symbolic 'ticket to Pakistan' for him.)

SRK, Salman said, needs the support of his fans.

"Where are Shah Rukh's fans? They should stand up and come out in hoards to show their support for their hero. And why take out your anger on a film? It's not just Shah Rukh's film. It's the producer's film, the distributor's film, the other actors, what wrong have they done? And any which way, at the end of the day, a film belongs to the people who see it, who wait for it so in a way you are depriving them of what they enjoy. If you have a problem with SRK, talk it with him. Don't take it out on the film."

Shah Rukh also got support from Riteish Deshmukh. "Any issue can be sorted out with logical debate and discussion," Riteish said. "Statements made by people should be read in their right context. I don't support holding a film at ransom to sort out an issue. We are all one and we stand united with Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar."
Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee said, "There was one statement made to express an opinion. And there was an expression of opinion against it. I consider both as completely valid since our society allows us the right to express ourselves and stand by it. However, for me the issue is whether illegal means can be resorted to while expressing our opinions and sentiments in public. I, as a normal citizen, would like the lawmakers and the lawkeepers of the country to guide us on this. If it is, then we, as citizens, will bear the consequences."

Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Katrina Kaif, Sushmita Sen, Yash Chopra and Preity Zinta, who has an IPL team of her own, did not respond to calls and text messages.

Some B-town heavyweights responded, and cited reasons for why they could not reply.

Akshay Kumar said he was in Germany. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali got back with "In shooting. Will call back." Hrithik Roshan promptly replied with, "Can you wait till the evening?", and did not get back. Two SMSes to him from The Indian Express went unanswered.

Saif Ali Khan was unavailable. As was girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, who incidentally, is paired opposite SRK in his next home production, Ra.1.

Priyanka Chopra, who is shooting in New York, didn't respond either. But she tweeted, "Good morning everyone.. being away from home feels strange at times like this..with the team of MNIK all the way..SRK, Karan Kajol..I support!"

Deepika Padukone tweeted, "Am with u Karan and SRK and the MNIK team...more power to u!!"

Farhan Akhtar has been on Twitter too. Some of his tweets: "Nothing and nobody has the right to disrupt the release of MNIK. With Karan, Srk all the way. There is no need for anyone to be afraid in face of this sort of hooliganism! There are laws and we have faith in them protecting us. the best way that you can show support for MNIK and cock a snoot at the madness is go watch it fearlessly."

Arjun Rampal told SRK on Twitter, "Didn't expect anything less from you, proud of you and your stand. We are all with you and will not let this pass lying down."

Abhishek Bachchan wasn't so direct, but maybe SRK can read the fine print in his tweet: "Do not change who you are for anyone. If God, in all his wisdom, made you the way you are, he did it for a reason."
