The main problem is that the films of today do not attract the family audiences and that is the main culprit. It has too much of exposure and skin show which makes it uncomfortable to watch with your family.

Wanted was and is the biggest film this year simply because it was marketed for everyone, the young and the old. Everyone had a great time and totally enjoyed the film. It was decent and an awesome entertainer.

Two things went wrong, I guess. They released the movie around the time when no one wants to see more of terrorism. Secondly they publicized the sex scenes too much. I remember one of the promos uploaded by UTV was called "Watch Saif and Kareena get intimate." The promo only showed 5 seconds of the "intimacy" but the rest was serious stuff, but they highlighted the "intimacy" part. Didnt expect that from UTV and Karan.

About the A certificate and all, it really doesnt matter. I'm gonna be hated for mentioning Kaminey, but it released during the WORST circumstances EVER. Swine flu, multiple court cases, Life Partner clash and A certificate. It didnt even release in Mumbai and Pune till Monday, that took away 25% from the collections. But hey, it still did pretty badass, people drove to Pune to watch it. So if Kurbaan is good then the word of mouth should spread. Releasing it on 1700 screens is a bit ridic though.

I guess people are calling it a flop because it's such an expensive movie... I read that it needs more than 55 crores just to be called average. With DDD coming on Friday I guess chances of that happening aren't looking so good. It really needed a great opening week...
These producers should really try to keep costs down. Even Akshay Kumar's movies are failing because of high cost, even though he always gets a great opening.

Movies like KI, Race, Ghajini etc work because they are commercial in nature and huge percentage of the population want to go watch mindless movies that provide paisa vasool. Why do you think Rajanikanth movies in the south tend to become such great hits? You go in to watch these just to spend some hours without having to think. They make no pretences to be anything other that what they are...what you see is what you get.

Kaminey, Dev D, A Wednesday etc become hits because they are just extremely well made films. Some in this category are thought provoking...others are not...but they are overall well-made.
Kurbaan is neither. Story is a re-hash...the so-called intellectual/gritty aspect was not evident in any way on screen...performances were just about ok (some better than others)...
I really wanted to love this movie...had such high expectations of Rensil...came away terribly disappointed.

Sorry Desigal...I have followed how much of a cheerleader you have been for this movie. For your sake and only your sake I hope this is not a flop.
