In that case....wats the point in making 95% of the films churned out in bollywood !
They are all copies of Hollywood flicks....This one is just a legal copy....all others are illegal lift-offs !
Going by this ....Soon....they will just start dubbing the hollywood flicks and selling them ! Lol !

^I think Wake Up Sid is the only exception - shot entirely in Mumbai.

Oh Kaal as well. 😆

But since Kuch Kuch Hota Hai he hasn't directed a film set entirely in India though he has produced a couple.

I wouldn't say 95 percent of the films are copies. Most Sanjay Gupta and Bhatt camp films are. But there is quite a bit of original stuff out there too.

I have no problem with there being a remake as such - but if you want to make a remake of an American film for Indians, why not set it in India? That was my point.

He just wants to cash in on the movie. Most of the movies in Bollywood (especially remakes) are entirely pointless. They murder the original film, steal the plot, add filmy desi dialogues, and cash in on the movie.

I still don't understand the reason these people are allowed remakes. Plagiarism.

Hmm. They could always set it in India, but maybe he wants to show this is the culture in the western world. I know people that raise fingers about U.S. and other countries while declaring in India people are rooted to their morals, values and culture.

I am not sure this is valid in this case, but a lot of Hindi remakes of South Indian films happen because the Hindi film producers pay them a lot of money for the copyright. In the case of Step-Mom it isn't technically plagiarism since they got the copyrights.

After watching WUS I had more hopes from Dharma. It wasn't an amazing film for me but it was interesting to see a film set in India and one where the director understood the mileu the film was set in. Quite refreshing actually.

When they plan to remake a film already popular in India, for the Indian audience, I would hope that they would add something Indian to give it a small touch of originality. I guess I am hoping for too much from Dharma.

Does KJo ever set a movie in India? His only movie entirely set in India was KKHH and KKKG was set partly in India.

IS KJo directing this movie or one of his puppet directors?
Any way I rather have him doing this than doing three movie on the India-Pakistan conflict. It would be even worse than his forray into terrorism.

Kjo does movies for a larger audience than India : NRI, Europe (France, Germany, Spain), USA, Canada.......
Joke apart he's known even in Poland, people are in love with his movies and SRK...if he shoots only in Mumbai the international angle of his movies lacks....Shooting KANK in NY can make people all over the world relate to the storyline because NY is the ultimate cosmopolit city.
Even SRK said that OSO was made mainly dor the western audience so that they can see that even BW can make parody of itself.
Kjo's target is the world not India.

And by the way the majority of dance/singing sequences is shot abroad....so setting an hindi movie abroad isn't something so untypical.
I know Kjo loves NY and Europe. So it does make sense....to me.
