I dunno if i wanted a sad ending but i didnt like her walking out of the marriaage like dat.

I love sad endings but the ending suggested is cliched and once again just proves that no matter what even if there is no love one should stay in the marriage. I don't agree with that concept.

Meera was confused and that's what I liked about the character. She doesn't need to be preachy and the movie doesn't need to be one either. So if Saif suggested this ending then me like Saif. 😊

People are not perfect and such things do happen in real life. All movies need not have perfect preachy ending.

My sentiments exactly. I remember one interview that Imtiaz gave where he said that the film is about how love is similar and different in different eras. But he doesn't believe that one is better than the other. So I think the ending stayed true to what he says he believes.

I know some people have problems with a woman walking out on her husband. Surprisingly, when I was talking to my grandmother, and some of her friends, they said that they had no problem with that part. Something, that this modern girl does, somehow resonated with these women who probably never even considered walking out of an unhappy marriage. That I think is interesting.

There is no problem in walking out of marriage...

but first nite... she knew she loved him before she got married? Why get married then?

But i think its not that bad... first of its kind in Bollywood?

Or otherwise we always see that the gal never got married and they unite in end?

But sad endings are also growing in Bollywood a lot of examples are there like Jannat , Awarapan recently.

dis is the only MAIN reason i don't lyke LAK..it shld have sad ending.. or she shld realize dis at mandap..at first nite relaiztaion it's kinda weird..

Maya, you've nailed it...!

why is such a surprise or shock for that matter that Meera broke her marriage... actually, it makes more sense... because she was confused and she is not perfect... people who actually know each other and have love marriages end up getting separated after a month of their marriages... so i don't agree that this was the problem with the movie... if anything, i think it makes it more realistic and novel... sad endings are way too cliched and too predictable... also, not to mention, that would have made for one senseless movie...!!

my only complaint is that the characters of jai and meera were not developed that much, that is in the beginning to establish the love between them... although, we did get to see it during the movie, i would've liked it to be a bit more, i don't know, expanded upon...? well, something like that...
