Katrina is more generous than I would be, calling her father decent, even though he wasn't there for her, growing up.

how come shes not in touch with her father? usually when parents seperate they still keep in touch with the children...if her father didnt do that then, hes on helluva slime and she shouldnt miss him at all.

Well, we don't really know what happened between Katrina's parents. But I believe that even after parents seperate, they should still make an effort with their children. If he hasn't contacted his children, that is a real shame and I don't think there are any valid reasons why he shouldn't keep in touch.

One thing I don't understand- why is it Katrina's responsibility to settle her siblings? Can't they do it for themselves? And the article states that her mother is a successful lawyer. It always seemed to me as if she's from a humble background. But the article suggests the opposite.

maybe cuz she's the sole provider of the family? and no one else will make as much money as her?? her moms a lawyer (a harvard grad right) she should be doing good business right now...if shes still practicing that is...and if i were Kat i'd goto Harvard too...oh what i'd give to go there, and yes they do give preference to students who's parents have also graduated from there...go figure...but i guess shes making far more money now than she couldve made with a harvard degree...and its all about money at the end of the day..right?

hmmm... a man who didnt care abt his children and left them to b brought up by their mother... yaa they got divorced.. bt i dnt think that stops some1 from being in touch with the children.it may nt b monetary as always bt emotional support?? was it soo difficult for him?

now the matter is simple , kats father never cared abt his children and never took the responsibility of them.. which means he is nt at all bothered abt them..

so i dnt see any reason why kat shud b missing him.. kat is wayy too generous i guess

^Well, I have seen the type. Usually, they make the excuse, that they aren't ready to be fathers or feel like being fathers and then leave while their kids are young. Then they have little contact with their children after they leave. It isn't unique to Kat.

But I guess it is good that if like Crystal says, she is in touch with her father's family. I can understand, being curious about one's roots or genealogy in terms of getting to know her cousins from that side even if her dad is not in the picture. So you can get learn more about yourself.
