^^ Unintentionally appropriate sneering sarcasm... I like!
That aside, is the movie truly as horrible as people are making it out to be?

See the reality of life is, some people find some humor funny & some don't. Just like some people may view artistic movies in a certain way, and some may not.
Public isn't stupid, they oviously don't go in expecting a serious movie oriented around a important issue, if trailers and promos are shwoing the complete opposite.
And on the point that Akshay ONLY makes movies w/ crude humor then thats wrong.
There's been lots of movies he's done which doesn't have a connection to comedy.
But the truth is, sadly people love akki for action & comedy. Though he does have more potential but most audiences asscoiate him with action/comedy.
Aside from CCTC, all of his other comedy oriented movies have worked. BECAUSE he knows how to entertain and he does entertain his audiences. that's why Welcome & SIK are hits because he makes people laugh. stoyrlines may be poor but atleast people come out laughing and smiling.
Not every actor has that within himself^
Going back to KI, it'll work for some ppl and it won't for some. ah wt the heck, at the end of the day they are just movies.

Ok guys, I just got back!
Arright so let me start off by saying, its not bad at all. I mean, the way the reviews were making the movie out to be, I was literally expecting another Tashan.
Thank god, it was nothing like that.
Being as unbiased as possible, I'll say, it was ok, not bad, time pass movie. I mean I was entertained. And I did laugh out loud on many occasions.
Major reason to watch the movie, is Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, that's it.
So you know what…before reviewing performances, I'll pinpoint, WHAT WENT WRONG?

I mean the movie had potential right? Battle of the sexes, two competent performers, some dialogues were hilarious, so where did it go wrong?

Negatives First:
The script, the script, the script.
Too weak a script, that's the problem. I mean, lets already put the logic aside. Even WITH logic put aside, there are some things that are just hard to digest.
Denise Richards going out with a stuntman? She was portrayed like some kinda…desperado who couldn't wait to get married. MARRIED TO VIRAJ? Like..wth? When did they even meet? And were they already "in love" to wanna get married?

Kareena and Akshay's relationship had me confused. Fighting one moment, and then within the blink of an eye, BAM love. With akki, it was like, after one seduction sequence, he falls in love with her. I'm guessing it has something to do with her being super hot, but I mean, that's not love. It happens too soon. Everything is forced and pushed. Atleast kareena's realization hits after a song sequence, kyon, lol.

Marjor downflaw…KAREENA'S CHARACTER! OH MY GOD! I'm gonna be very harsh with her coz my expectations form Kareena are the highest.
Was her character supposed to be bipolar? No really, was it? I mean I get the meaning of being confused, but seriously, towards the end, I just wanted to SLAP HER ACROSS THE FACE! LIKE SHUTT UP!!!
I agree with the reviews that her character was too underdeveloped. And my god, SO CLICH! Everything was so clich. Walking in, "wait!" right on the brink of a wedding, or right when they're getting divorced. Like I could feel the audience rolling their eyes, like "typical", lol

And the climax. It was too…anticlimactic. Like everything happens so fast and ur just like…uhhh…ok…so I'm supposed to buy this. Arright. Like its such an anticlimax. If they had made the climax comic, crazy, and chaotic, like Singh Is Kingg, everything would have been ok. It would have made sense. But it just kinda falls apart. There are no jokes towards the end, but because of the weak storyline, ur unable to sympathize with the characters or even believe what was happening to even really feel the emotions too much. And that's where logic comes in.
On one hand you say its an illogical movie, then perhaps you should have an illogical light hearted a climax right? It doesn't work if the first half is illogical, and then the climax is supposed to be emotional and serious. It doesn't work that way.
And I mean it just doesn't happen like that in real life.
And here I"ll compare it to Golmaal Returns. This is where Golmaal Returns worked with the audience and KI doesn't. The climax of GR was in synch with the style of the entire movie. The audience was in splits throughout. It was illogical, sure, but so was the entire movie. The climax was in synch with the rest of the movie. While in KI, you're just watching and when it ends, ur still just kinda watching…feeling that something's missing. I remember people were laughing and clapping when GR ended. With KI, we all just kinda got up and left.

Positives:
Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor, like I said, are the major reason you watch that movie!
If not for Akki and Bebo, I don't think the movie would have lasted. And I don't mean that just fans will enjoy them, but really, everyone will. Yeah akki was in his top form, his usual comic dialogues which had everyone hysterical.
And Kareena held her ground in front of him. I think the second half belonged to her. She was able to master both comedy and the emotional scenes with ease. And she was the one who held the slower emotional part of the movie together with her performance. So I'm proud of her for being able to carry of such a stupid, under developed and flawed character. And to top it all off, she looks BEAUTIFUL! Kareena's never looked this good!! Super hot and super cute!
Some sequences really were very funny, like most of the first half, and the hospital sequence, the award shoe.
Warning Spoiler:

Watch out for kareena in the sequence right before bebo. She sounds, and looks soooooo cute! She should play drunk roles more often, haha.

So yeah, really long review I know, but I promoted this movie more than any other movie, so I should be able to rant about it as well.
Yes its entertaining, and you'll sit there and have fun, but its nothing special. A one time watch, you'll have fun. Just go and smile :)
6/10

Masand's Movie Review: Kambakkht Ishq vulgar, offensive
Rajeev Masand / CNN-IBN

Cast: Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Amrita Arora

Director: Sabbir Khan

How much you enjoy Kambakkht Ishq is directly proportionate to just how low your standards have fallen. This battle-of-the-sexes saga starring Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor is a loud, vulgar and seriously offensive film that has reportedly been made at a price of Rs 60 crore. In that much money, you could feed an entire starving nation. And you'd be blessed for it.

I'm not saying the makers of Kambakkht Ishq have no business spending so much money. I'm just saying, if you must spend Rs 60 crore, the least you can do is give us a good film.

Akshay Kumar plays Viraj Shergill, a Hollywood stuntman who beds a new broad every day but loves his bachelor lifestyle too much to settle for anything permanent. He meets his match in Kareena Kapoor who plays Simrita Rai, a medical student-cum-part-time model who hates the very sight of men, convinced they're only interested in women for sex. The two of them clash when their respective best friends decide to tie the knot, but things take an unexpected turn when - believe it or not - Simrita accidently loses her musical watch inside Viraj's body while performing a surgery on him. Mortified that she could be sued for her negligence, she must find a way to get him back on the operation table so she can retrieve the watch. He, on the other hand, can't seem to figure out why his ears keep ringing with a musical chant every hour.

Watching Kambakkht Ishq, you know you can't apply logic to a film like this. There are dozens of questions that have no answers - Who allowed her to keep her watch on while performing surgery? What kind of battery does this watch run on for it to break into music every hour inside a man's stomach? What kind of stuntman can afford a luxurious condo overlooking the sea? Where in the world can you expect to find Sylvester Stallone lurking in alleys waiting to come to the rescue of hapless girls?

I could go on till tomorrow.

The problem with this film isn't that it's ridden with logical loopholes. Those you're even willing to turn a blind eye to, in keeping with the film's screwball nature. What is inexcusable is the consistently crude tone of the film. So while a scene in which a big black female customs officer practically rips through Akshay's backside to search for drugs might still make you laugh, what isn't very funny is a scene in which Akshay farts in Amrita Arora's face for no reason at all. That's just sick.

I also don't see the humor in Akshay and Kareena referring to each other as "dog" and "bitch" repeatedly, and believe me, those are some of the milder profanities they use in the film. Besides, there are innumerable references to sex, virginity and homosexuality, and to be honest many of them just aren't funny. Like the scene in which Akshay tries to set Kareena up with a girl because she's made her dislike for men quite apparent. When Kareena responds that she's not interested in sleeping with either a man or a woman, Akshay is ecstatic at the mystery he believes he's just solved - "Virgin! You're a virgin," he taunts her.

What's so funny, you ask.

I want to add here that slapping a woman is just wrong, and using that as comedy is plain offensive. In more scenes than one, Akshay Kumar physically abuses female characters - including one in which he slaps Amrita Arora across her face four times. I don't care that Amrita Arora probably deserves some kind of punishment for her lousy acting, but I'm sorry Akshay, real men don't raise their hands on women. Even as a joke.

Provocative, but just for the sake of it, director Sabbir Khan resorts to cheap gimmicks for the sake of cheap thrills - like a group of girls flashing their breasts to the men at a wedding reception, and Akshay Kumar grabbing Kareena and smooching her forcibly on the lips.

In terms of performances, there is very little that can be said about both leads. Kareena Kapoor, an actress blessed with scorching screen presence and immense talent, stoops to a new career low with Kambakkht Ishq. I can't imagine why any respectable actress would agree to play such a crass character and participate in the film's sexist jokes which include - on at least two occasions - her yanking her neckline down to reveal more cleavage and raising her hemline up to show more leg. Although the film benefits from Kareena's star wattage, it will remain an ugly blot on her resume. Akshay Kumar, for his part, recycles many of the same jokes from his earlier films and relies on broad physical comedy to draw the laughs. But he's running out of steam, and the loud, coarse humor is getting repetitive. At his best when he's comically endearing, one of the most entertaining scenes in the film is the one in which he's discovered to his horror who will be performing surgery on him. Muttering and cursing her as the anesthesia kicks in, he leaves you in splits.

Judged purely on its screenplay, Kambakkht Ishq spirals downwards in its second half, when the tone shifts abruptly from comedy to sappy romance. Those supposedly emotional scenes in the film's third act aren't in the least convincing, and only slacken the film's pace considerably.

On the upside, Kambakkht Ishq has attractive camerawork, and set in the heart of Hollywood you're treated to a ringside view of such local attractions as the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Universal Studios and the Kodak Theatre. There is also the opportunity to see a few daring stunts being filmed, but those scenes sadly are too short.

The real humor in this film lies in the clever bits. Like that scene at an Action Awards ceremony where the audience rises to its feet to accord respect to what they think might be the Indian National Anthem when what's actually playing is that musical marriage chant in Akshay's body.

Unfortunately such moments are few and far between in what is ultimately a loud, vulgar film. Which brings me to another concern - Kambakkht Ishq has been rated U/A by the Censor Board which means children of all ages can see the film as long as they're accompanied by an adult. I don't mean to be a prude, but do we really want our kids to learn about sex from the movies? From this movie?

I'm going with one out of five for director Sabbir Khan's Kambakkht Ishq. Think of it as Welcome or Singh Is Kinng but about twenty times more tasteless. Of course it worries me that that description might excite some viewers to check it out!

Rating: 1 / 5 (Poor) What do you think? Write your own review here and win exciting prizes. Winning entry will be read by Rajeev Masand on his show on CNN-IBN next Friday. Do not forget to leave your contact details.

I tried to be honest.
But really, I have too many expectations from kareena and while she didnt let me down...the movie certianly did. Her character did.
KI wasnt supposed to be this way.
I'm slipping into Qurbaan mode already, lol
And yeah Akki performed well...but he's acted better. He was better in Hey Babyy, he was better in other movies.
Its just like kareena. She acted well...but she's acted better before.
Let me put it this way. The movie survives BECAUSE of Akki and Kareena...but akki and kareena are let down by the movie.
