The film "The Prestige" is based on the concept of "mercy killing," that is an unknown concept in India but outside India, people fight court cases to get mercy killing in case they are suffering from everyday unbearable physical or mental pain. Even Jade Goody who suffered from cancer had requested to get a mercy killing as it is said to be a tolerable option to prevent pain of living.
In Indian cinema not many movie have been made on mercy killing but in Hollywood some other movies have been made on mercy killing. One of the movies is "Whose Life it is anyway" and "They kill horses, don't they" etc. In Indian cinema one film that war noted for such concept was "Shayad" and it was as expected not a commercial film. The film having Nasserudin Shah, Om Puri and Vijendra Ghatge in lead role had shown mercy killing but censor board interrupted and later the movie concept was changed from mercy killing to suicide.
