 Katrina Kaif is Akshay Kumar's preferred choice as a heroine and that's exactly why she is doing Priyadarshan's De Dana Dhan. It was on Akshay's special request that the director agreed to cast Katrina, even though he washesitant. Now the story goes thus, that while Akshay and Priyadarshan were working together on Hera Pheri in 2000, Priyadarshan would often tease Akshay about not having a female lead opposite him, while co-star Sunil Shetty had Tabu. This lead to him promising Akshay that for their future projects, Akshay would get to choose a heroine of his choice and he would cast her. Our source continues the story, "The two then worked together on Garam Masala (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2003) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) but for them Priyadarshan chose the girls. Then came De Dana Dhan. Priyadarshan was desperately looking around for a heroine opposite Akshay but was unable to find one. It was then that Akshay reminded him of the promise Priyadarshan had made him and insisted that they get Katrina on board." "Initially, Priyadarshan had apprehensions about working with Katrina, given her glamorous image. But once he worked with her, he was floored by her professionalism and kept thanking Akshay for recommending Katrina." Priyadarshan just laughs says, "Akki did recommend Katrina and I am glad to be working with her. They share a terrific chemistry onscreen." |
