"He slapped me out of love. "

Victims in abused relationships often state "love" as a reason for the victimizer's actions. I really dislike the boy's father. So what if the kid didn't want to give an interview? That does NOT justify using force against him. Can't someone put the father in prison for being a horrible parent?

They showed the news here as well and the father seemed very geunine on his side. It's a personal matter and every parent deserves some privacy and respect to discipline their child, the way they feel is right. Who are we to judge?

Not if he is physically abusing his child. He slapped his child for not giving an interview, imagine what else he must do if the kid did something worse.

^huh?

who are we to judge? well the parent is brutalizing the kid (not disciplining). The kid was tired and wanted to rest, its not like the kid stole anything or did anything bad. You don't use violence to discipline your kids. The kid will probably grow up thinking it is okay to hit on someone, he will probably lay a hand on his wife if he doesn't get things his way. Parents are supposed to be role models.. gosh

Where I come from, a third party like neighbor etc can file complaints to the child services if they see a parent abusing their kids. They don't sit there and tolerate domestic violence and think "OH WHO AM I TO JUDGE?"

I think there is a difference between acceptable discipline and unacceptable discipline. I guess it depends where you live, but I do have a right to inform the social services if I see a child being abused. And child services has the right to judge according to the law to ensure the safety of a child.
