Aamir Khan is on a career high. The actor has been busy handling the super success of Ghajini and juggling between the many success parties and the shoots of his next, Raj Kumar Hirani's 3 idiots.
And though the power of his star status never diminished, it seems post Ghajini; Aamir has once again caught the fancy of the ad world. With endorsement deals for brands like Tata Sky and Titan to his credit, this Khan is raking in great moolah!
According to an industry insider Coca Cola has renewed its contract with Aamir Khan after considering the success of Ghajini. Buzz is, Aamir is being paid a whopping Rs 10 crore for this new contract.
Aamir will shoot the ad next week. Apparently, Aamir who is very selective when it comes to films and brands has been promoting Coca Cola since last two years. It remains to be seen what interesting act Aamir Khan comes up with this time.
Meanwhile, Beverage and snacks major PepsiCo has decided against renewing its long-standing association with its biggest brand ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan, ending an over decade-old association with the super star.
This is yet another example of PepsiCo phasing out of aging celebrities, in line with its 'youngistan' theme. Early last year, the company had dropped cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly also terminating a long-standing association.
It is learnt that PepsiCo's contract with Shah Rukh was up for renewal towards end-'08, and the company decided against renewing it. When contacted, a PepsiCo India spokesperson said: "We have a long and enduring relationship with Shah Rukh which PepsiCo is very proud of. We are currently in discussions with him to take this relationship to a new phase."
The company and SRK might take their association to the next level by PepsiCo striking a sponsorship deal with Shah Khan-owned IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
