Ok so a friend of mine at university has expressed interest in bollywood, so I went ahead and showed her her first bollywood movie, and I chose Kal Ho Na Ho, coz it was a nice ice breaker into bollywood since it still have some elements that Americans were familiar with. Now I want more suggesitons, what should I show her next?
I was thinking the following movies:
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge
Jab We Met
K3G
Taare Zameen Par
Any others?

From the list, JWM.....just because it does not show foreign locales and instead focuses on what's in India....and the screenplay ain't that bad either.

Maybe...Rang De Basanti?
I remember showing RDB to a couple of my friends at school and they liked it, except they don't understand why Bollywood movies have songs in them. 😆

How about Dil waale adn Kuch Kuch Hota hai...right? They both dont have foreign locations, well DDLJ does, but then it also shows the village so it'll be a nice contrast.
Oo, RDB also sounds good, but should i go for that or Lagaan?

Sholay's a good one as well. I was thinking, I'd get her used to the newer onces, then work back to the classics.

lol.. i am obsessed with old films.. not that many in recent ones that i actually like..
what about Black.. it has no songs and story is universal.. Taare Zameen Par is also a good choice, i think.. on lighter side, DDLJ is a great choice..

I'd say Lagaan is a good choice as an introduction. That was what I chose for my friend for an intro to BW. If you want to go old-school, then I would say Awaara. I will with hesitance add Jodha Akbar because I took people from school to see that, and they loved it despite the length.
