oh Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. it's a very rich film in its own way.

These are somma my favourites that I see no one's mentioned :p dunno how you feel about them

Kal Ho Na Ho's definately my all time fav

Hum Tum and Dhoom 2 could be possibility? And one of my fav's from 08 was Wednesday.

Oh yeah, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Hum Tum are great choices as well!

Actually, I showed my American friends K3G(they loved Hrithik) and Dhoom 2(they wanted to see more Hrithik)! They had a blast! Now they're waiting till break so they can see more b/c they don't have the time to watch a 3 hour movie. My friends really liked the dances and the beautiful sets, so anything will lavish dances should be refreshing to watch for them!

well what kind of movies are they into? and why do they wanna "explore" indian movies?

will need to know this before we i start suggesting them anything.. if they're expecting "quality world cinema" like some of the other foreign flicks because they are so edgy and different and arty.. then it will get tricky.. so let me know..

if they wanna watch indian movies "because they're OMG so colorful and just love the singing and dancing they have.. and the culture OMG so unique and lovely...and India is next on my list of places to visit because it is OH SO EXOTIC and did you know Bollywood is the biggest movie industryyy in da worrrrld" <rolleyes>then you might as well recommend Jodha Akbar, SLB flicks (minus Black) or Veer Zaara or some of those movies with ethnic clothes and beautiful people and colorful cinematography...

the only time i went to watch a desi flick with few of my friends (they're non desi) was Dhoom 2 for the first time and they loved it because of the "hot indian dude" (their words) and "that very hot Indian actress"

Basically its coz in college, most of her friends are desi (including me), and even her boyfriend. So all of a sudden, we were just mentioning indian movies and she said she was curious to watch one. So I showed her Kal Ho Na Ho and she loved it so much that she called him and recommended it to her brother and parents.

Now we're trying to make a list of movies that will introduce her to the world of bollywood, yet at the same time, she can see a lil bit of the culture as well, so we're ruling out movies liek Dhoom 2 and the ultra glitz and glamour for the moment.

I wanna show her like "classic" bollywood movies first, like movies that would be a general idea of what bollywood is all about.

So like DDLJ, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, K3G are the masala flicks that I chose, and then Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, maybe something like a comedy liek Biwi Number 1, I dunno, I'm still compiling a list. I wanna get her into bollywood nice and easy. Once she's used to the culture a lil and reading hte subtitles with ease, then I'll show her Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and all those movies.
