Preity Zinta likely to host Oye! It's Friday

It seems that Preity Zinta has taken to television big time. Not too long ago, it was reported that the Bollywood queen will make her television debut in Colors' upcoming reality show. We're now hearing that Preity will also try her hand at anchoring. Apparently, the word going around in tinsel town is that Preity will be taking over from Farhan Akhtar as the host of NDTV Imagine show Oye! It's Friday.

According to a source, "Karan Johar was to take over from Farhan but the director is currently busy shooting for his film My Name is Khan. The channel and the production house have approached Preity and in all likelihood we will get to see her in the show."

We called up another source that is closely attached with the show. This is what our source had to say, "Yes, Preity is one of the probable candidates. Apparently, Anupam Kher is another name that was doing the rounds. Though things are not yet finalised, it is likely to be Preity who will host the show."

Preity's manager Rohini claimed ignorance to this development. Meanwhile, Anupam Kher's manager Bhaskar Shetty vehemently denied that the actor was ever made such an offer.

Speculation is also rife that the show's future too is under clout but this was rubbished by our source. "No, there's no way the show is going off air. The channel is happy with the way we're going. The TRPs may not be that high but we aren't doing that bad for a weekly show."

Farhan Akhtar's chat show, Oye! It's Friday never got the kind of response the channel, NDTV Imagine, expected from it. The show was a non-starter, and hasn't picked up even after six episodes.

Sources reveal the channel is contemplating replacing Farhan as the host. Even though none of the officials are willing to go on reccord, they have been talking to people in the business. One of the persons they approached was Karan Johar, who turned it down, as he is busy shooting for his film in LA. Also, Karan and Farhan are friends and it would have been weird for him to replace the latter.

Oye! It's Friday is a desi version of the popular American weekend show Saturday Night Live. Despite having big celebrities like Shah Rukh, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan, the show hasn't delivered as expected. A source from the show says, "It's a new format and it's Farhan's first time on TV, so we expected it to pick up slowly but it doesn't seem to be working."

The source adds that the biggest hurdle with Farhan is the unavailability of confirmed shooting dates. "The production people have to constantly keep running after him to secure dates. There's an understanding that he won't be able to shoot when he has to promote his films or work on new projects." So either they pull the plug on the show, or find a new host. Either way, the change will happen soon. Watch this space for more.

Wow hope it does not end in uk do not have this channel so have been watching it online farhan was really good i thought as a presenter and really cute...Priety will be a good presenter she needs a talk show and am sure it will rock..no kjo he has his koffeee😛😛😛

Whts wrong with Farhan? Hes a fine host. I dont think changing the anchor will make much differnce. The performances at times are irritating, the concept needs to be changed, not the anchor.

as i have heard he is quitting it for the aggressive promotion of his m0ovie luck by chance, he does not consider the tv show important than his movie i guess...

and karan johar succkss.....and preity zinta...emmm.....not as worth watching as farhan

I don't think Karan Johar has time, as he is working for his next film ''My Name Is Khan'', why they r changing Farhan?, he is a good host.............

DUDE. He's the reason I watch the show... this is stupid. I don't think he's quitting because of LBC. Highly doubtful.

i heard he signed another movie. He also working on Don sequel which shooting will start in Summer 2010. I guess he's working on the script of Don sequel.😃
