I agree with Maya. But then again in society a man can walk around bare bodied with a simple shorts anywhere...and people won't say anything because it's normal. Imagine a girl running down the streets in shorts with no shirt on!! So it's relative. What Rhea wore to the premiere might be embarrasing for some parent while to Anil and many of us it isn't. Similarly what Deepika wore in that song is normal for many people coz she is an actress and most actress do it as part of their profession while some may raise eyebrows. I mean some people complain about Sonam's strapless gowns and then there are some who are like "OMG! The girl is wearing jeans!!!" LOL!! So each to his own I guess in the end.

Good questions..

I guess firstly most parents know its package of being in this industry..also most of the time they see behind the scenes etc where nothing looks as glam as on screen.

Also most of these parents are probably fairly open...i think its nothing really embarssing about clothes unless they hardly wearing nothing most stars tend to be responsible because of their audience etc.

Most of these people are old enough to make their own decisions and set their own principles. Why should anyone have a problem with that? Everyone's perception is different- What is vulgar to me may be okay with someone else. As long as people are not forced to wear a particular outfit (by director, designer) and wear it out of their own will, i dont see any harm.

Because I don't see any mention of John Abraham practically nude in Dostana, Ranbir Kapoor throwing off towel to bare his butt, Aamir Khan exposive his boobs in the name of 8-packs, Salman Khan's bare upper body.
Who decides the parameters?
May be some of you are very conservative but the place I belong to girls wear strapless gowns, they wear swimsuit while swimming. Just because some of you think that one should be covered in salwar -kameez and duppatta doesn't mean that all others should follow the suit. There is something called dressing to the occasion and salwars according to me isn't always perfect for all.
These parents are well aware of what happens in the industry and yet they allow their girls to work even the famous Bollywood families. So it isn't all that bad.
I can't find anything wrong in Sonam's dress. She looks fabulous! and what is there for her father to be ashamed of? If anything he should be proud of this smart girl who bounced back after the disaster called Saawariya. Between Ranbir and Sonam, I am proud of the girl's personality. No! this is not a comparison but it irks me when girls are always picked on and measured with biased yardsticks whereas guys go scotfree and sad that all those comments comes from girls not guys.

Well, I dont differentiate between girls and boys. I think that what John did in Dostana was beyond disgusting. Same thing for Ranbir Kapoor. The boys are just as bad, if not worse than the girls. And like I said in my previous post, I wouldnt let my daughter or son go into Bollywood. I think that its great for entertainment purposes, but each and every single person/family is trashy in Bollywood. I would not want my children to ruin my family name by going into such a "profession."

I am baffled by everyone's response here. Do we still live in 17th century or something? What is so wrong with what they wear? So, they should walk around in 9 yard sarees all the time even on the beach. Would that define them as "good girls"? Even more depressing is the fact that people here think that they can comment on someone's parenting skills because their kid decided to wear a bikini. So, just because they want their kids to follow their dreams and do what they want, it makes them bad parents. These are grown up human beings, I think they can choose what is wrong or right for them.
I know most Indians come from conservative families but that does not mean that actors don't have values or have bad parents. Moreover, it's just human body, we all have what they have so what is there to be ashamed about it? And truthfully speaking, from all the indians I know it's always the goody two-shoes, "I only wear salwar-kameez" types who do the sketchiest stuff behind their parents back because they are always put under such strict rules.

Well! then that is your opinion. These actors' parents don't think the same way. What is wrong for you needn't be the same for other.
Personally, I would allow my children to make their own decisions. I would instill good values and all but I am no decision maker of their life. I don't think Bollywood is trashy (your word..not mine). It is just as bad as corporate world. Now that is my view and I won't say that others should agree with that either.😛
