Heya!

Just recenly I read this article posted by a member here called From Sizzle to Fizzle [ can be found here: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/bollywood/999336/is-it-over-for-rani-preity-ash ]. The article basically stated that audiences perfer newer and upcoming actresses like Deepika, Katrina, Kareena and the others rather than the veteran bollywood actresses such as Preity, Rani, Aish who once use to rule the boxoffice not so long ago.

Is it time for Aish, Preity and Rani to move on out of the industry? Has their time come to and end? After delivering as many enjoyable hits?

Are Katrina, Deepika, Kareena the new rulers of Bollywood?

Is it unfair how the media only picks on the actresses and not the actors? Why is it that after many years in the industry, Amitabh, SRK, Salman, Saif, Akshay and many others are still doing pretty well in industry when compared to the actresses?

I'll try not to blab too much because I tend to get worked up on certain topics😆 but I'm really annoyed with the media for trying to 'evict' the senior actresses out of bollywood It's just the case of them being fickle. When Rani was giving hits, they loved her. Now that she's given a few flops, it's time for her to get married! Katrina is giving hits at the mo and the media love her. If she gives a couple of flops tomorrow, the media will look for a new fixation😳

Barring Kareena, since she's not really a new actress, I think Katrina and Deepika still need to prove themselves as actresses. And to say that they are now the ruling queens of bollywood is not right. Hits and flops should not be used as a yardstick to measure an actor/actresses capability and success. Yet media are obsessed with hits and flops.

As for the men of bollywood.....they are MEN! 😆 They can get away with it. If they have flops, no one says that their time is over (but I have no issues with them...I'm hoping Salman remains in Bollywood till the end of time😉😆)

But I feel sorry for the leading ladies of bollywood, they have too much pressure on them😳 age always become a factor in their careers and their filmi journey is often shorter than a hero because of this.

Cool topic, Swati!

All I have to say is that Katrina & Deepika have made places in the industry however they have to prove themselves more & become more successful. IF we start to think that they are already superstars for example Deepika, just because she was part of one success hit movie does not make her a superstar. Rani, Priety & Ash and many other senior actresses have worked there way all the way up in Bollyywood. I know I don't just talk for myself when i say, I have and never will lose my admiration for actresses who act with complete passion, who have crossed the bounderies and limits placed on women. Examples of these truly would be Preity, Rani, Ash, Kajol, etc Few flops aint going to change that.

I love actresses like Priety, Rani, Aish, Kajol but I would much rather see the more recent actresses at this moment in time like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. Who are my current fav actresses at the moment. 😊

I think the Indian audience mostly prefers to see younger girls on screen! the younger they are....more the chance of their iflms becoming hits!!!

Age is a bigggg thing for women....! There is always this fear that if u get wrinkles....the directors will kick u out of the films and will rope in younger actresses...!

But for actors...the older they are...the hotter and sexier they get!!! You know...the Hot at Forty Bandwagon!!!😆

It is really unfair actually..!

For the media...not only them...even the public....30+ actresses become aunties...but 30+ actors become hawwwwwt...more manly.... plus nobody calls them uncle!! if u get my point!!

Women age faster than men...so thats a big disadvantage...! 😔

Its the other way round with me...! Aishwarya and Preity remain my favourites.....Kats...Deepika and the other new females have not found a place in my heart atleast uptil now!😊

So...these were my points and views on the topic!! You can agree with me or disagree! ! 😃 Thats your choice..! 😊

Women get called aunties if they look old and fat if they not stick thin i do not get this unfairness to be honest its really one sided look at men like govinda they not in the best shape to honest and never been. The same goes for acting they never get told careers over or not wanted etc and ok to romance younger women...

I like Rani, Priety etc theres no way newcomers can replace slightly older actors because they have worked their way to place they are today. These new actors are only starting out rani etc have already built their career and can be picky these newcomers are still climbing for example katrina does more commercial films to get sucess career graph wise her films are not to standard of rani etc in films like black. No actor can make it big without good performances they need more than just commercial sucess to leave a mark or they are forgotten..lets see out of the newcomers who is remeber and compared to them.

Old is gold as they say :) not to say newcomers bad but wrong to right off people just because they older....no one can replace a good actor whos left a mark , rani etc career still has good 5/6 years in my view if not more .

I feel the same way as everyone above me :) I love the more veteran actresses Preity, AIsh, Rani and all the others, will always remain as some of my all time favourite actresses. Yes sooner or later time will come for them to retire but I don't think we can rule them out as Bollywoods Finest yet.

Katrina, Deepika, Priyanka, Kangana may be the new young talent but all of them still have to prove themselves. I don't believe neither one of these actresses has proved themselves yet. Katrina ( I LOVE her) has many hits under her belt but she's never really proved herself as an actress .. All those films really probably could have done without her. Deepika has only one film to her success so unless we see her in a few more films I don't think shes a contender. Priyanka has had some success in her few years but she hasn't done a film that makes you go WOW ... all her films have been so so. Kangana's still relatively new but I like her .. She has potential but theres still a long way for her to go before she rules the boxoffice.

Just because new actresses have made there way into the industry doesn't mean we should forget the older ones .. Even if they're doing only 1 film a year.

And I just HATE the whole when actresses hit the age of 30+ they need to retire but actors can be as old as they want but no one says a thing about them. They should be here for as long as they want to be .. Stupid articles like these shouldn't be shooing them away.

Isn't it weird how only only Bollywood actresses are put through this? Where as some of Hollywoods finest actresses like Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Jessica Parkerand all the others are still going strong in hollywood? The media there cant' get enough of them!

sigh. every actress/actor goes through this phase..

with newerr faces coming in, we'll be soon saying tht even katrina and deepika hv become boring........it has nothing to do wid their skills or talent.

its just the time. wen rani n preity made their debuts, every1 wrote off madhuri and Juhi... was tht fair?

honestly, i stilllll prefer rani and preity over the newer actresses any day... sometimes, you choose an actor to be a fav. not becoz of looks or just acting but becoz of an attachment tht uve seen them for yearss.. i've adored them since i was 9 yrs old and it won't be easy for any newcomer to take over their position so easily....

And i can bet, just one hit from them wud hv the critics gg gaga over them again...

^^And I agree with preity*zinta that this only happens in bollywood... In Holllywood, actresses above 30 like Angelina Jolie Sandra Bullock are still going strong. . Bollywood has to grow up !

I really dont think that Katrina,Deepika, Priyanka are the new queens of Bollywood. We havent seen much of them yet. They still need to prove their capabilities.. Media ppl comes up with strange articles, whenever an actress gives a hit..she is the media's eye candy and when a flop.. media says she shud back out from Big screen..
