21 years of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi
A BAD health bug has hit Bollywood and the stars are falling ill, one after another.
First, it was Saif Ali Khan, who was rushed to hospital in Mumbai last week with chest pains.
Discharged recently, the 36-year-old heavy smoker was told to lay off cigarettes and watch hisdiet.
Then, actor Hrithik Roshan (right) came down with a bout of viral flu.
The Indo-Asian News Service reported that the 32-year-old has been working his fingers to the bone on long film shoots for his latest movie, the historical feature Jodha-Akbar.
He was also rehearsing for the Filmfare Awards show in Mumbai last Saturday, where he danced to a medley of tracks from his films.
'All the time, I had high fever and was keeping it down with paracetamol tablets.
'Today is the first time that I'm resting. Post-Saif, all of us really need to take care of ourselves,' he said.
Hrithik has apparently been giving himself a rare break from his diet and exercise regime.
The body-conscious actor normally works out almost every day, but stopped for a while after Dhoom 2.
However, he started getting into his punishing exercise regime again when his filming schedule became packed with sword-fighting scenes that lasted 20days.
He said: 'All this has taken its toll. I'm completely exhausted and burning with a fever.'
Which is why he's not ready to sign on to another film yet.
'At the moment, I think a break is seriously needed after Jodha-Akbar. We must learn to listen to our body's warning signals,' he said.
SICK AT AWARDS
Also joining the sick club is Dino Morea, who fell ill at the Filmfare Awards.
Indiafm reported that the 32-year-old actor, who is of Indian-Italian descent, was to have been in a promotional skit for his upcoming film, Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi (Sometimes In Life), with co-stars Sammir Dattani and AnjoriAlagh.
Dino said that he had been working the entire day despite having a fever.
'Since I had committed myself to doing the promotional clip and since I didn't want to miss the Filmfare awards, I braved it with my director Vikram Bhatt at the function.
'But soon, my head started throbbing and I felt I'd pass out. That was when I decided to leave.'
Now, he too has jumped on the bandwagon and begun encouraging other stars to slow down.
Like Hrithik, he highlighted the work conditions that actors sometimes have to put up with.
'Look at the work conditions in studios and on location. One could die of anything from contaminated water to mob frenzy.
'Indian actors don't need insurance; they need God's miracle tosurvive.'

BITTER COFFEE, ANYONE?
Some Bollywoodians sure know how to make news even when they aren't making films. Director-producer Karan Johar has just started the new season of his popular chat show, with a bigger bang than he must have expected. First, actor Hrithik Roshan faced some flak for making a friendly dig at the two Aamir and Salman Khan's vertical measurements. Some saw it as Roshan making fun of his seniors. The next show had director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali proclaiming that director Kunal Kohli was the most overrated filmmaker in Bollywood. Everyone knows reactions and counter-reactions can take things to a different level. Lighten up people! While its films seem to be coming of age, Bollywood sure seems to be lagging behind in the humour department.

Filmi politics |
On Monday, SP workers shouted slogans outside Shah Rukh Khan's house. This was against the remarks made about Big B and Amar Singh. When Khan's camp came to know of this, the Congress workers assembled in his favour. Politics it seems has reached Bollywood and Big B is getting isolated. |
One can guess the extent to which it has affected the preparation being made for taking Bollywood actors on a world tour. It seems no top actor like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan will participate in the Big B world tour. |
Hrithik Roshan is a crowd puller. If he does not go then the show is bound to be a flop. Sources say he has refused. The director of Dooms-2's remarks and Bachchan family's reaction has strained the relations. |
Rumor has it that Amar Singh met Rakesh Roshan and requested that Hrithik go. But he is joining the world tour organised by Shah Rukh. |
