HRITHIK ROSHAN

In Hrithik's signature the small 'r' is written in such a way that it indicates 'r' and 'h' both. The small 'r' indicates that whatever heights and success he achieves he will always remain down-to-earth. The other alphabets written in his signature are straight and long, pointing upwards, which indicates that he is very ambitious and hard-working. The hidden 'h' in the 'r' shows that he is very creative and will keep on
trying his hand at different things in life. The 'R' in the surname is written in an artistic and rhythmic way and in capitals, which is indicative of the strong influence his father and his family as 'R' is also the initial of his father's name.

Hrithik injured in swordfight with Aishwarya?
15th Feb 2007 17.03 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Hrithik Roshan reportedly sustained a minor injury while shooting a swordfight scene with actress Aishwarya Rai .

Hrithik and Ash are shooting together for Ashutosh Gowarikar's movie Jodha Akbar in which they play emperor Akbar and princess Jodhabai respectively.

The two stars were filming a scene in which they had to fight each other with swords.

Sources are quoted as saying that there was a slight lapse of timing in the swordfight scene and Hrithik ended up getting injured by Ash's sword.

However, Hrithik did not let the injury keep him from shooting further. The spunky actor continued filming for the movie.

Earlier, while learning horse riding for this film, Hrithik had fallen from a horse, his foot had got stuck in the stirrup, and he got dragged on the ground for some distance. That incident, too, had left Hrithik undaunted. He had said then that every accident and every injury teaches him something.

Now, that is called professionalism.

[edit] Career
Hrithik's first movie role was as a child artist when he was six years old in the 1980 movie Aasha, when he appeared in a dance sequence as an extra. He went on to appear as a child artist in Aap Ki Deewane (1980) and Bhagwan Dada (1986).

As Child artist in Bhagwan Dada (1986)He was an assistant director for his father's films Karan Arjun (1995) and Koyla (1997).

He made his debut as a leading man in the 2000 film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai opposite another debutante actress Amisha Patel. The film was directed by his father and proved to be very successful at the box office: It was the highest grossing film of 2000 and winner of the Filmfare Best Movie Award. Hrithik's performance earned him the Filmfare Best Debut Award and the Filmfare Best Actor Award. That same year, Hrithik also starred in Fiza and Mission Kashmir which were only moderately successful at the box office.

In 2001, Hrithik starred in Yaadein which was a failure at the box office and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham which did extremely well at the box office, becoming the second-highest grossing film of 2001. [1]

He had a bad year in 2002 when all three of his releases - Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage - failed to make an impact the box office and were declared flops. [2]

In 2003, his career was back on track with Koi Mil Gaya, which Hrithik's father Rakesh directed. It was the highest grosser of the year. It won many Filmfare Awards, including another Filmfare Best Actor Award for Hrithik. [3]

He only had only one release in 2004, Lakshya, directed by Farhan Akhtar. Lakshya did not do as well at the box office as expected [4] but critics called it his most impressive performance so far. [5]

Hrithik took a two-year break from acting before resurfacing with the superhero film Krrish [6] which released in June 2006. Krrish has been a major box office success. [7]

His most recent release is Dhoom 2, a sequel to the 2004 hit Dhoom. In this film, he plays a negative role (a villain) for the first time. The film released on November 24, 2006 and is already breaking box office records. [8]

His forthcoming films are Jodha-Akbar , Kismat Talkies And Delhi 6 which are scheduled to release in 2007.

[edit] Personal life
Hrithik Roshan was born in Mumbai, India, to Pinky and actor/director Rakesh Roshan. He is the nephew of well-known music director Rajesh Roshan.

Roshan is married to Suzanne Khan (who is now Suzanne Roshan), his high-school sweetheart. Suzanne is the daughter of actor/director Sanjay Khan and sister of actor Zayed Khan. Film clans (see List of Bollywood film clans) tend to intermarry.

Hrithik Roshan and Suzanne Khan/Roshan had their first child, a baby boy, on March 28, 2006, at 3:08pm at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai, India. The child was named Rehaan.[9]

[edit] Controversy
In 2000,Hrithik Roshan caused outrage in Nepal, after allegedly bad mouthing the country of Nepal & it's people in an interview. [citation needed]

Hrithik courted controversy when, at the London press conference for his 2006 film Krrish, he said that he knew it was time to leave Shanghai and Hong Kong after six weeks of stunt training and go home when his eyes started "turning into little slits like the Chinese". [10]

[edit] Trivia
Hrithik has a vestigial Thumb on his right hand. [11]
His film Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai entered the Limca Book of Records in 2003 for the most number of Awards won by a Bollywood Film - 102 awards. [12]

After a series of not very successful films Hrithik Roshan is being very cautious about the films he signs. No one can deny the fact that the actor still has enough fire to ignite the silver screens, and his good looks make many-a-women skip a beat. But Hrithik seems to have learned from his mistakes and has decided to play it safe. He no longer is on signing spree and intends to concentrate on quality rather than quantity. The lad currently is engaged in only a couple of films - his home production 'Koi Mil Gaya' and Farhan Akhtar's next. Sensible decisions is all we can say.

The nation labelled him a phenomenon.

Hrithik Roshan felt it was just the winds of change. A reaction to something new which they had never seen before.

He had a roaring debut. He had a not-so-roaring follow-up to that debut. The latest being the Yaadein debacle.

Roshan Jr has some big banners on his hands. But not a sustained run at the BO. In that, he is lucky and unlucky at the same time.

He says, pragmatically, "I am lucky to be so successful. But I'm unfortunate, too. Because, each time the audience and my fans go to the theatre to watch a film, they expect to see a Raj or Rohit. That's quite unfortunate for me."

Bharati Dubey catches up with a reflective Hrithik Roshan, post Yaadein:

How does Hrithik Roshan take flak from the media and audience on Yaadein?

I have no right to judge the film especially if it is a Subhash Ghai film.

As an actor, I did exactly what I was told to do. I did my job as honestly as possible.

All I can say is each film has its destiny. This one did, too.

About the flak I got, all I can say is I am an actor. I did exactly what the director told me to do.

You know, sometimes, some things go against the sensibilities of an actor. He does his job like any other person. He delivers what the director asks.

What are your thoughts about this media hype and overexposure?

All this craze over me didn't make any sense to me. I always knew it was not true. Everyone was swayed by the craze, including the media and the trade.

Besides, all my films after Kaho Naa' Pyaar Hai were not MY films. After KNPH came Fiza, which was Karisma's (Kapoor) film. It was followed by Mission Kashmir. When I signed on for the film, I knew it was Sunjay Dutt's film.

Even Yaadein was not my film. It was about three people. Mostly, it was about Jackie.

I know my fans are let down. They come to the theatres thinking it's my film.

But that's because they were all projected as if they were my films. That's totally wrong.

The rumours about your alleged affair with Kareena Kapoor... How does that affect you?

They would have affected me if Suzanne were affected by them. She isn't. Because she is also part of the same industry.

Are you the typical husband?

Of course. I love being pampered.

Karan Johar has stated in an interview that Hrithik is a a student compared to Shah Rukh Khan'

Let me tell you something. I haven't enjoyed acting with any other costar as much I did with Shah Rukh.

He's fantastic to work with. He is not a selfish actor. Not only does he think about what he could do in a scene, he also invests thought in what I can do to make the scene better.

When you think about it, that is the goal of every person involved in a film. And that happens if you want the other actor to look good. And act well.

As for the student part, I am three years old in the industry. Shah Rukh has been acting for the last 20 years.

So yes, I am a baby compared to him.

You are working with directors who are known to be temperamental. How do you work around that?

Every director has his style. As an actor, you should find your own groove with every director.

The directors I am working with are great human beings and great people to work with.

There is a lot of debate, especially in the media, that Yaadein is a setback to Hrithik's career'

I don't know. But I do know that it doesn't make a difference what they say about me and my career.

Yaadein might affect my career. It might not. You might be right. You might not.

Every film changes your path. My next three films could be the biggest hits of all time. They could be the biggest flops for all you know.

And you might conclude that it happened because of Yaadein.

I am an actor. The only thing that will affect me is if I do a bad job. A hit or a flop will not affect my career. A bad job will.

Does the security cover around you upset or distract you while at work?

I guess one has to learn to live with it. But I know it's because my parents are concerned about me.

Where do you see yourself ten years hence?

I guess I would have had my fill as an actor. And I might be preparing myself to direct a film'

I know it is a huge responsibility. But coming from a family of directors and knowing a bit about the work that goes into making a film, it would be quite natural for me to take to direction.

'We don't have time to perfect our work'
Hrithik Roshan is still as shy as he used to be in the days before he became a star. Says his fond papa, "He has not changed one bit." Rakesh Roshan's words ring true when one sees an embarrassed Hrithik dealing with the adulation and obliging his fans for autographs, whether at Santa Cruz airport in Bombay or Hotel Taj in Ahmedabad or City Pulse in Gandhinagar. A quick interview with the Roshans.

Has the father-son equation changed after Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai?

Hrithik (smiling): Not at all. The equation was established when I assisted dad in production, direction and editing before he launched me in Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai.

Did assisting your father help you in your performance?

Hrithik: Of course. The training period under my dad has been of immense help. You can know what is right only when you know what's wrong. When dad used to correct Salman or Shah Rukh on the sets of Karan Arjun, I used to ask him why he said what he said.

Besides, Dad and I used to discuss a great deal in the editing room, that's another way in which I learnt what was wrong and what was right. And wrong and right before the camera are quite different from what they may be in real life. For instance, if, in a scene, an actor is talking to someone and another person, who is not in the frame, passes by, the natural reaction would be for the actor to look at the person passing by. But dad once explained to me that if the camera caught the actor's eyes moving somewhere else, the director would also have to show to the audience that other person who was passing by.

I have been really very lucky to have undergone training in direction before becoming an actor because I find it easier to visualise what exactly a director wants of me.

What was Hrithik's contribution to Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai?

Rakesh: I would say that at least 50 per cent of the credit for the success goes to Hrithik. We had constant discussions on the sets and in the editing room. Because he belongs to today's generation, he knew what the look of the film had to be. I used to readily accept his suggestions relating to the look of the film. His other suggestions were also good. But he did get a little worried when I did not keep a single dramatic scene for him in the film. He told his mother, 'Mama, please tell papa to include at least one dramatic scene for me.' But I never heeded this suggestion of his.

What is Hrithik's forte -- dance, action, emotions or comedy?

Rakesh: We need to see him in a couple of more films to really gauge his forte. An actor opens up with every film and I am confident that Hrithik will be able to handle all of them with elan.

Is Hrithik as comfortable on the sets of other directors as he is with his dad?

Hrithik: I understand that no other director can give me the space which dad gave me in my first film. But I am unhappy about how the industry functions. We all work like machines, we don't have the time to rehearse, to perfect our work. I guess it's the system, but I am very very sad about it. I find myself helpless because I can't change the system all by myself
