Shah Rukh Khan star invitee to Salman Khan's 'Namastey London' success party!

Salman Khan hosted a party to celebrate the success of the film, 'Namastey London,' that featured squeeze Katrina Kaif in the lead. The star invitee at the bash was his new found best friend Shah Rukh Khan

By Vimla Patil

15 May 2007 (Sawf News) - For some reason, Vipul Shah, the producer-director of the film, didn't host a bash to mark the success of his film so the ever exuberant Salman Khan stepped and performed the honors. He invited close friends and colleagues including Shah Rukh Khan at the lavish celebration where Vipul Shah was the chief guest. This is Vipul's third mega hit in a row and SRK was full of praise for the director!

Reports in the Mirror say that Salman was miffed that the producers had not held a party even though Namastey London had proved to be a worldwide hit. The presence of SRK as the star guest was further proof that both Khans are bonding big time. They are frequently seen living it up at dinners in posh restaurants and filmi parties.

On a vanhunt

Shah Rukh Khan will soon get a tailor-made vanity van, costing Rs 80 lakh. Ritesh Deshmukh is designing it for him

Ram Kamal Mukherjee

There seems to be a great demand for made-to-order vanity vans in Bollywood. Recently we heard that Salman Khan is getting himself a customised vanity van. Now, Shah Rukh Khan has placed an order for one.

Apparently, SRK was mighty impressed with Ritesh Deshmukh's van (which has been designed by Ritesh himself). So much so that he wanted Ritesh to design one for him too. "When Shah Rukh was shooting for Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om Ritesh was shooting nearby for Indra Kumar's Dhamaal. Shah Rukh was very impressed with Ritesh's van," says our source.

Most actors in Bollywood own private vans, but Ritesh's van is considered to be the best. "He doesn't take his van for outdoor schedules. He is an architect himself and he is extremely fond of cars. Actually, he converted a proper luxury bus into a vanity van. Most vans need a generator to operate the van because of high-voltage equipment, but SRK's van will be different. He can drive from Mannat to Filmcity, if need be, in his van," says our source.

The approximate cost of the van is Rs 80 lakh. The van will be steel grey in colour. The interiors will sport a leather finish. "Ritesh is currently working on the colour scheme of upholstery. He will be doing it in red and white. SRK has specified that he wants a 50 inch plasma TV installed inside his van, along with five Bose speakers. It will also have a mini-kitchen with a microwave and other cooking appliances.

The van will also have a wardrobe and shoe rack. There will be a special corner for guests. It will have water storage system to last 24 hours. "This guest corner will be especially designed for media and other personalities who would like to meet SRK while shooting," reveals our source.

SRK will have a well-stocked library as well. "Some of SRK's friends suggested that he should have his signature at the back of the van, but Khan is yet contemplating the thought," says our source. We tried to get in touch with Ritesh Deshmukh but he was unavailable for comment.

S R K- Sallu Bonding!!

[15 May 2007>

Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have become great pals after they both were snubbed by Bachchans by not inviting them to wedding bash at Prateeksha. Now the two are often seen bonding with each other very closely at dinners and parties. Similar was the case when Salman Khan decided to host a party to celebrate the success of his girlfriend Katrina's film ' Salaam Namastey.' You guessed it right, the guest list was topped by none other than King Khan and according to sources he was in full form at the party giving the proof of their proximity.

As an insider reveals, ' Apart from the usual gang of friends, Salman's party was attended by Shah Rukh Khan who dropped in to congratulate Katrina and Vipul Shah. Vipul was the guest of honour at the party. Salman congratulated him for his third successive hit with Namastey London.'

However, Sallubhai was not very happy with Vipul Shah for breaking the tradition of hosting a party after a film becomes hit. This was especially so as Katrina, his girlfriend was the heroine of the film and even then no party was arranged to celebrate the success of the film. What say….Kya kya na kiya tere ishq mein!!

Shah Rukh's daughter Suhana loves soft toys. So doting papa arranged for teddies and bunnies in suits to entertain guests at her birthday party

Ashwini Deshmukh

Shah Rukh Khan is a doting father and his daughter Suhana will vouch for it. Although the actor has a tremendously busy schedule, he threw a bash for all of Suhana's friends to celebrate her birthday. All the kids were accompanied by their moms, and of course, Suhana keeps eclectic company with star kids, making for a unique guest list.

Shah Rukha Khan with wife Gauri and daughter Suhana

Mannat, this Sunday, saw Rayhaan Roshan accompanied by mom Susanne, Juhi Chawla with her kids, Jhanvi and Arjun, Meher Jessia-Rampal with her daughters Mahika and Myra, Raveena Tandon with daughter Rasha, Alvira Khan Agnihotri (Salman's Sister) with Ayaan and Alizeh, Farah Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani's wife with kids and Adhuna Akhtar with her daughter.

Suhana's birthday party was held a few days prior to her actual birthday (May 22). The entire afternoon was planned by both ma and pa, Gauri and Shah Rukh on Mannat's terrace. Pa arranged for all the goodies his kids prefer. Aaryan loves video games and so a video station was set-up for him, while Suhana is fond of soft toys. So, SRK arranged for teddies and bunnies (in suits) on his terrace to entertain the kids. A huge bunny-shaped 5 kg chocolate cake was specially made by the chef of a suburban five-star hotel. The snacks included a huge platter of assorted starters carefully selected by Gauri and her favourite, reshmi kababs, were also on the menu.

The entire afternoon was spent happily with kids, moms and teddies. Of course, the father was the true entertainer. Like a good host, he took care of all the tiny tots. The return gifts were gift-wrapped by the parents themselves, adding a personal touch to the entire do.

Meet the little SRK- THE CHHOTE SHAH RUKH

THE CHHOTE SHAH RUKH

Azaan Ali Khan, 6

Instant recall: Azaan is the "Googly Woogly Woosh" kid in the Ponds cold cream ad.

CV: Ads for Dukes Wafers, Ponds cold cream, Singapore Tourism, Nerolac Paints, Dettol, Onida TV, Samsung, Lloyd air-conditioners, Hutch, Reliance, Dabur Lal toothpaste, Gayatri Mantra.

Azaan has also acted in television serials Kahin Toh Hoga and Ek Chaabi Hain Pados Mein and in a Vishal Bharadwaj-directed documentary on the Mumbai floods.

Coming up: Roles in films Lori and We Love You Pappe.

Azaan's story: When Azaan was little over two years old, he made his intention clear. "He would insist on wearing Shahluk waali pant and would touch the television screen whenever Shah Rukh was on screen," says mom Roma. Family members insisted that they try their luck in Mumbai. So Azaan's parents—his father is a businessman—moved bag and baggage from Delhi. In just two months Azaan got the Ponds campaign, which was a hit. More commercials followed and he became one of the most recognised faces on television.

Azaan, who has just been promoted to Class I at Santacruz's Poddar School, is quite selective about what he wants to be seen in. He just refused a role in Balaji soap Kasamh Se because as Azaan says, "I like doing ads more."

Favourite assignment: Parle's Hide n' Seek commercial with Hrithik Roshan. "Hrithik uncle said ki tumhare baal bilkul mere jaise soft hain (Hrithik uncle said your hair is as soft as mine)," he gushes.

"My body is like Salman Khan but I look like Shah Rukh Khan."

When I grow up: "I want to be a pilot."

What I want for my next birthday: "An ad with my favourite actor Shah Rukh Khan."Parent trap: Says mom Roma: "Azaan ki aankhon mein bahut kuch dikhayi deta hai."

Did you know: In ad circles, Azaan is known as chhote Shah Rukh.

Kareena Kapoor may star opposite Shah Rukh Khan

18th May 2007 14.01 IST
By Agencies

Kareena Kapoor may star opposite her favourite hero Shah Rukh Khan in her favourite director Karan Johar 's next production.

The film is reported to be set in set in New York and is an 'unusual' love story and will be directed by Siddharth Malhotra who's presently writing the screenplay of the film.

Malhotra has previously assisted Johar in Kal Ho Na Ho. Johar has approved the script and Malhotra is writing it out now. The rest of the cast would be finalised in a month's time.

All know that Kareena has been very keen on working with her favourite director (Johar) for a long time, after a period of fallout.

Be it interviews or brief appearances on television, Kareena has been vocal about her aspirations. Her last appearance in a Dharma Production film was for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham .

Kareena has been in talks with Johar for sometime for various projects. But nothing has really materialised.

Johar, however, refuses to spell the name of her leading lady. When quizzed about Kareena, he says she hasn't been confirmed yet. the film though is a one-guy-one-gal romantic film."

Kareena is yet to sign on the dotted line, but she has been more or less finalised for the role says a source.

Smelling the koffee, Bebo?

Kareena Kapoor has been dreaming of signing a Karan Johar film for ages now. It looks like her dreams are set to come true. (At last!)

SANDIPAN DALAL

Kareena Kapoor's prayers might just be answered. After having been ousted from Tarun Mansukhani's untitled film (starring Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Saif Ali Khan), she might be seen in Karan Johar's next production. However, it is definitely not for Karan's much-talked-about next, which is set in New York and stars Shah Rukh Khan.

An 'unusual' love story, the film will be directed by Siddharth Malhotra, who has previously assisted Karan in Kal Ho Naa Ho. Siddharth is presently writing the screenplay of the film. Talking about the new film Karan says, "I have approved the script. The cast should be finalised in a month's time."

We are no strangers to the fact that Kareena has been very keen on working with her favourite director (read Karan Johar) for the longest time, after a period of fallout with him. Tarun Mansukhani's untitled film was a big project for her till Abhishek Bachchan decided not to work with her.

Karan, however, refuses to spell the name of her leading lady. When quizzed about Kareena, he says, "I can't confirm anything just yet. As for the film it's an unusually written film."

Bollywood Joins India's Leading Artists at Bonhams

LONDON, ENGLAND.-Bonhams, the international fine art auction house will help to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Indian Independence with a fund raising auction in support of Tehelka, an iconic media house in India, and the country's fastest-growing English weekly newspaper.

Art for Freedom will take place at Bonhams, 101 New Bond Street, London on 7 June, 6 pm onwards. The sale will feature work by both established Indian masters and a newer generation of cutting edge, emerging voices.

A unique aspect of the auction is the fact that many of the canvasses are a collaborative effort between top-line Indian artists and high-profile Indian and British personalities. The proceeds of the sale will go towards Tehelka.

The highlight of the evening will occur when two of India's biggest cultural brands – the legendary artist, 92-year-old M F Husain and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan -- will paint on a blank canvas alongside each other. This painting will be sold as the paint dries at Bonhams to the highest bidder from among the art collectors, politicians, celebrities and industry magnates present at the auction.

Further collaborations include such diverse personalities as:

• Angeli Sowani (London-based abstract expressionist) and Arun Sarin (global telecom czar, the India-born CEO of Vodafone, man in the news)

• Paresh Maity (30 solo shows in 10 years) and Sir Gulam Noon, MBE (a British businessman of Indian origin, famed for popularising Indian cuisine)

• Farhan Mujib (eminent artist famous for his ornate paper collages)
and Naseeruddin Shah (one of India's most esteemed actors)

• Prasenjit Sengupta (a cutting edge new artist known for his ghostly realism) and Dr Kartar Lalvani (one of UK's most prominent NRIs, whose company, Vitabiotics sells some of Britain's largest selling vitamin supplements)

The auction comes at an auspicious time for top Indian artists participating in the sale. Thanks to globalisation and changing artworld trends, the auction market for Indian art alone has spiralled from $52million in 2006 to its current rate of $150 million annually. Bonhams' recent public sales of Contemporary Indian and Pakistani Paintings are testament to this growth.
