Royal War!!

The cold war between the Shehenshah and Badshah of Bollywood has intensified further after Shah Rukh postponed his World Tour ' Temptations' from October this year to April 2008, which is in close proximity to Big B's World Tour One Amazing Night scheduled for the middle of next year. This will certainly adversely affect the prospects of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya tour of the USA, Europe and Middle East. Not only this, but the Shah Rukh camp has also included in its participants the gorgeous Priyanka Chopra, who earlier walked out of the Big B's world tour programme.

As Kareem Morani, who will organize the King Khan's tour ' Temptations' to the USA, UK and Canada explains, ' We are still working on the tour and not much is finalized yet. But Priyanka and Rani are likely to be part of the tour. As far as actors are concerned, apart from Shah Rukh none are confirmed as of now. It will be 40-day tour. We had scheduled the tour for October this year but Shah Rukh has postponed it to April 2008.'

Amitabh Bachchan's World Tour One Amazing Night is being organized by Wizcraft Company, an event management company, and will have the hot pair of Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai besides Amiabh Bachchan.

Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra were also expected to take part but later they walked out of the tour. Earlier, the tour was supposed to take place in September 2007 but later it was postponed to mid 2008 due to Abhishek and Aishwarya wedding. Now, the organizers are hoping to cash in on the popularity of these stars as the hottest bollywood couple but after Shah Rukh's world tour has been set for April, the prospect for a better attendance seems bleak.

It may be recalled that recently Shah Rukh Khan's wax idol was unveiled at Madame Tussauds museum in London and King Khan is very popular in the UK and other European countries as also in the USA and the Middle East. Even the movies, which star Shah Rukh, do better business in overseas territory than any other star of bollywood. So, on the part of organizers of One Amazing Night it would not be a profitable proposition to go with the stage show at this juncture.

It seems that the rivalry between the two stalwarts of the Indian film industry has further intensified after the Bachchans royally snubbed the King Khan by ignoring him during the much publicized wedding of Abhishek and Aishwarya. Now, Shah Rukh Khan seems to be providing a rallying point for those elements of the industry that are not very fond of Bachchans. Perhaps that was the case when Badshah Khan had organized a big party after Ash- Abhi marriage and it was attended by Salman, Kareena, Priyanka etc.

Shah Rukh to act in Hindi Casablanca

T Rajeevnath, a national award winning filmmaker, is all set for a daunting task of remaking Casablanca, one of the cult classics of Hollywood, in Hindi. He wants to make a Hindi movie inspired from the 1942 flick Casablanca that starred Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.

The Hindi remake is said to be tentatively titled Sangam, and Rajeevnath has himself written the script. He believes Casablanca is one of the most outstanding movies of the last century.

Interestingly, Rajeevnath is hoping to sign none other than Shah Rukh Khan to play the role essayed by Bogart in the Hollywood classic. According to Rajeevnath, SRK has the charm and flamboyance to carry the role with conviction. Rajeevnath is looking forward to approach SRK in the coming days.

As for the movie's heroine, Rajeevnath hasn't decided yet. But he wants an actress of big stature. For the time being, the filmmaker has signed A R Rahman to compose the film's music and songs.

The Oscar-winning film had Humphrey Bogart in the role of an expatriate American named Rick Blaine, who owns and runs a casino in Casablanca. Ingrid Bergman played Rick's ex-lover Ilsa Lund, who is married to another man.

The film is about the inner conflict of Rick as he finds himself torn between his feelings for Ilsa and his duty to do the right thing by helping her husband, who is a resistance hero fighting against the Nazis. The Hindi remake of Casablanca will be shot in Andaman Islands and Shimla. The film's shooting will begin by the end of this year.

Love for maaaaa...Bollywood style!

On his recent KBC appearance, Shah Rukh Khan announced to the whole world that "mothers are special people. They must be honoured and loved without exception for the unconditional love they give us. I miss my parents even today and feel that were my mother alive, I would have kept my success at her feet and hugged her." His love for his mother is evident to all his fans.

There are fans and then there are fans. Vishal Singh is a fan whose entire life revolves around worshipping his idol. Lucknow-based Vishal is perhaps the craziest fan Shah Rukh Khan can boast of having. Vishal eats, breathes and lives SRK. Right from legally changing his name to Vishahrukh Khan to driving down all the way from Lucknow to Mumbai with his pregnant wife so that she could be blessed by SRK, Vishahrukh has done it all.

Mushtaq Sheikh, author and close friend of SRK, says, "There's this crazy fan from Lucknow who has shocked us with his obsession for SRK. He has been a fanatic SRK fan for a long time now."

Another close friend of SRK, Sajid Khan says, "Vishal has also legally changed his name from Vishal Singh to Vishahrukh Khan. The extremity of his craziness shocks me. He also won a competition for being the biggest SRK fan in a TV show that I hosted."

Another source says, "One day, Vishahrukh travelled all the way from Lucknow and waited outside the stars bungalow Mannat. The house staff at Mannat invited the couple inside the star's house. When Shah Rukh returned from his shoot, he was amused to see Vishahrukh's craziness but he was more concerned about his wife's well-being. He also scolded Vishal for travelling all the way with his pregnant wife."

When we called Vishahrukh in Lucknow, (he has SRK's song 'Mitwa' from Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna as his caller tune), he said, "Yes. For me, Shah Rukh Khan is God. I did get my wife to Mumbai to meet him when she was pregnant so that he could bless her. And now that the baby is born, I have named him Raj Aryan because Raj was SRK's name in Mohabbatein and Aryan is his son's name. My daughter was named Simran after Kajol's character in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge."

Fan ho toh aisa...

"He took a lot of care of us when we met him. He also scolded me for driving all the way with my pregnant wife. He told me, 'You could have told me, I would have arranged a proper meeting instead of putting her through all this inconvenience'," said Vishahrukh.

Wasn't it a risky thing to do, given his wife's condition? He said, "It was a Santro car and SRK endorses the brand, so there was nothing to worry about. At home, I only buy brands that Shah Rukh promotes."

As if these steps weren't enough to prove how crazy Vishahrukh is about the star, here is more. Vishahrukh's homeopathy company is called Shah Rukh Khan Force while his bungalow is called Shah Rukh Khan Palace. "I have Shah Rukh Khan's pictures on every possible surface in my house, from plates to the television screen, on cupboards and even in my bathroom," says Vishahrukh.

Mushtaq adds, "Vishahrukh's house is a major landmark in Lucknow. People recognise him as a SRK fan. The exteriors of his house have full-blown SRK posters. Even the ceiling and the ceiling fan are covered with SRK pictures. The bathroom and the bed too are not spared. The made-to-order curtains also have SRK's pictures on them."

The world concerts of Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan

Reports are that 'reported rivals' Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are planning their world concerts around the same time.

The Bachchan family which has Amitabh, Abhishek Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan has now also included the new daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai which makes the Bachchan brand/family one of the most sought after in tinsel town.

After the Ash-Abhishek engagement was announced, many directors and producers decided to sign the couple as a package pair for their films.

A prominent entertainment company also signed all three Bachchans, Amitabh, Abhishek and Ash for stage shows across various countries.

However the grand Bachchan stage shows have been postponed to mid 2008 due to all the stars' prior commitments.

But now it seems the Bachchans have competition from none other than SRK and his team who are also planning a concert in different countries in April 2008.

The Bachchan world concert titled One Amazing Night was planned for this year, but unfortunately due to the Ash-Abhishek wedding and all the members' prior commitments, the concert had to be pushed back to next year.

The Bachchan world concert was to also have other high profile stars like Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra , unfortunately when the concert was postponed both stars opted out.

Though Hrithik and Priyanka cited the postponement as a reason not to do the Bachchan concert, it is more likely that they did not want to be overshadowed by the Bachchan brand.

Wizcraft Company is organising One Amazing Night and the MD confirms "Yes we are in the process of coordinating the schedules and dates, but we will make a formal announcement only later."

The Bachchan tour will be headed for the US, Europe and Middle East.

SRK has also done world concerts earlier and 'Temptations' was one of his most successful shows and now the actor along with some other high profile stars will attempt another concert titled 'Temptations'.

The SRK world concert will be organized by the Morani Brothers and in all likelihood will include Rani Mukherjee and Preity Zinta , SRK also wants to rope in Priyanka now who had previously opted out of the Bachchan world concert.

Organiser Kareem Morani states "We are still working on the tour, but Priyanka and Rani are likely to be part of the tour. Shahrukh is the only confirmed actor for this 40 day tour."

Morani also confirms that the 'Temptations' concert was to be held this year but SRK postponed it to April 2008.

The SRK concert is headed for the US, UK and Canada.

Well so it's the Bachchan world concert versus the SRK world concert as both will be taking place around the same time.

It will be quite a treat to see which team gets a better response.

The Anti-B brigade

DIG A little deep and there emerges the reality of how this marriage has divided the industry into two distinct camps in Bollywood —the Bachchans and the Khans. And with the opposition camp emerging stronger with Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan ....allegedly joining hands with Shah Rukh, things could not have got any worse for Abhishek.

If upsetting bigwigs like Dilip Kumar and Shatrughan Sinha (by omitting them from the list of invitees for the Ash-Abhi wedding) was not enough, we now hear of another development post the wedding list fiasco. It is of Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan's (none of whom were invited) new-found predilection for each other.

This definitely is no great news for the Bachchans.

The Aftermath

Those who are aware of the ground realities of Bollywood and the so-called cold war between Bachchan senior and SRK, can imagine how crucial, or may we say ominous, this development can prove for the Bachchan family in the long run.

The bickering between Shah Rukh and Amitabh Bachchan is no state secret. Everyone knows about SRK and Big B's penchant to take subtle digs at each to prove who rules the roost.

Nevertheless, now with Salman and Hrithik allegedly joining SRK, the battle of the stars will reach a different height altogether.

Soiree Secret

According to the latest reports, SRK, Salman and Hrithik, got together recently at a soiree thrown by Shah Rukh Khan at his palatial bungalow, Mannat. The occasion was to enjoy and celebrate the cricket World Cup final being played between Australia and Sri Lanka. However it was not the event but the underlying yet evident reason behind the get-together that has become a matter of concern for many close to the Bachchan camp.

Reportedly, the bond between the Krrish star and the Khans simply couldn't be missed at the rendezvous. Egged on by his new pals SRK and Salman, Hrithik even wowed guests with an impromptu dance performance. He danced to all the popular Dhoom 2 songs —the movie that supposedly caused a serious rift between the Bachchans and Hrithik. (In particular, the onscreen kiss between Ash and Hrithik)

The party was also attended by Karan Johar, Sussane Khan, Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Saif Ali Khan and a few others, besides Salman and Hrithik.

Speculation Rife

Apart from Karan Johar, none in this new found camp amongst Hrithik, Shah Rukh and Salman were invited to the Ash-Abhi wedding.

Shah Rukh and Salman though were not expected to figure on the guest list —SRK, thanks to his alleged cold war with Amitabh and Salman for his past history (being Ash's ex). However, Hrithik not being invited to the wedding came as a big shock to many.

Hrithik and Abhishek have been close pals since childhood. They literally grew up together and even have common friends. What's more, even after being a very exclusive and private marriage, attended only by a handful, the Roshans didn't fail to invite Amitabh and family to their very private do when Hrithik tied the knot with Sussane in Bangalore. So obviously the senior Roshans and Hrithik were expected to be invited. But that was not to be.

The Unusual Bond

Hrithik was never known to share any great friendship with either Salman or Shah Rukh. For that matter, Salman too had a pow-wow with SRK sometime ago. So the big question is: What brought these three together? The very three actors whose relationship with one other was marred by controversy?

The Chalte Chalte Ruckus

To begin with, Salman and Shah Rukh had a bad fall out. And it was all due to Aishwarya Rai. Apparently, Aishwarya who was in a turbulent relationship with Salman then, confided in Shah Rukh regarding the same. This was when SRK was shooting for his home production Chalte Chalte with Ash opposite him in the lead.

Salman is said to have disrupted a day of shooting by causing a ruckus on the sets, when he went to meet Ash. Then again, Ash is later said to have visited SRK's office to seek protection from her boyfriend and messaged Salman as to her whereabouts. When he turned up there enraged, she requested SRK to hide her in the bathroom and out of sheer embarrassment he told Salman he hadn't seen Ash. Salman produced her message and Shah Rukh was caught in the middle. To keep out of any more trouble, SRK promptly replaced Ash with Rani Mukherji.

SRK, who had even tried to mediate between Salman and Ash, later publicly apologised for interfering in the affairs of his friends. Ever since, the two Khans remained aloof. Hrithik No Buddy Either

Hrithik Roshan was never a very good friend of Shah Rukh Khan. It was Hrithik's sensational debut with Kaho Na Pyar Hai, which apparently made the reigning superstar in SRK feel insecure.

So later on, when both starred together in Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, SRK lost no opportunity to cut Hrithik to size by allegedly truncating Hrithik's role in the flick.

Camp Power

That Shah Rukh Khan has a strong lobby within the industry is pretty well known. While Farah Khan and Karan Johar are known to be an integral part of it; also add to the list Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji and Priyanka Chopra.

But the much senior Salman also has his industry clout, with his name guaranteeing financial returns and his share of box-office lobbyists.

And Hrithik is fast taking his stronghold position what with having always churned out the biggest hits: Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, Koi…Mil Gaya, Kkrish and Dhoom 2.

Forgetting the past

Notwithstanding all their previous differences, Shah Rukh, Hrithik and Salman have now decided to get together and the common cause that binds them all? Well, it's not that difficult to guess at. Perhaps one Bachchan might prove to be the right answer.

So, while Bollywood is no stranger to cliques, this one in particular, will go a long way to change the entire complexion and tipple the equation power in Tinsel Town.

Here's an interesting anecdote about Shah Rukh Khan's kids, Aryan and Suhana.

The doting dad that he is, SRK has given both his babies a mobile phone each to call him any time they want to speak to him.

However, unlike Papa Khan, the Puppy Khans are never flooded with a barrage of SMSes from friends, and they've been complaining to him about it.

And what do you know? SRK has told his babies, "If nobody is messaging you, you can send messages to yourself!"

So baby Suhana has been sending herself 'I love you' messages all day long. Cho chweet!

Production houses venture into TV software, event management and VFX

Shahrukh Khan's production company Red Chillies Ltd has forayed in VFX and according to sources, Khan is seriously scouting for land for a studio. "A film studio is a dream for me. I would like to build one someday with world class facilities, but now I don't have enough money to begin one (initially had plans of using his KBC earnings as investment, but land prices claims Khan has shot up since). But my VFX studios is a state-of-the-art one. We've done VFX for Main Hoon Na, Paheli, Don and Om Shanti Om. And yes, even other production companies are approaching us,"elaborates Khan adding that Red Chillies VFX isn't just a money-minting outfit: "There are some very talented youngsters in India and we offer a platform for them to showcase their work and get international exposure. Of course, the money's also going to be good, but I am not here to do only business like others."

The talented editor turned director has directed two films so far, both path-breaking films that proved smash hits at the box-office. The first film was about a goon who pretends to be a doctor, running a charity hospital. Soon, his father gets to know the truth and the clever charade falls apart. The goon decides to become a doctor…

The second film, revolving around the same characters as the first part [the goon and his sidekick], was about the goon pretending to be a Professor of History. And how he comes face to face with the Father of the Nation…

The director had confided in this writer that he's working on a different film this time around, while the third part in the successful series will roll subsequently. Well, here's the latest on that front.

The director is in talks with the country's biggest star to enact the pivotal role in his new film. Incidentally, the director had initially approached the same actor for the first part a few years ago, but he couldn't do the project due to back problems.

No prizes for guessing the right names!

The grass always seems greener on the other side. I have the same simple desires that any man on the street has.

I want to be happy, I want to be with my kids and I want to continue doing good work.

I have little desires like not getting stuck in traffic while commuting to work, going back to a happy family, watching TV, and going to sleep.

I want to go on a holiday, now and then. My desires genuinely don't go beyond that.

The only difference between me and any other person is that when I go on a holiday, I have to take my bodyguards along and I have to stay in a hotel which is more exclusive than a regular one, though I don't like the expenses."

These people say good things about me because they like me. I think the philosophy of acting is about giving, giving an expression, giving a take etc.

Stealing a scene doesn't work. Personally, I have my share of insecurities which any normal person does.

But as far as my stardom is concerned, I am completely secure. I have been here for too long.

The first few years I might have been worried, but now with the kind of acceptance that I have got, I can't expect more!"
