Ameesha gets 'dropped' by Shah Rukh!

No, we're not talking about Ameesha being dropped from one of Shah Rukh's films. What we're talking about is Ameesha's recent experience with the King Khan. Apparently, Ameesha and SRK were shooting quite close to each other and the actress decided to pay a visit to Shah Rukh's sets. Of course, when the Khan saw her, he immediately extended the best hospitality, and was his usual charming self. Ameesha was totally floored by his intellect, wit and manners. At the end when it was time to say goodbye, the Khan actually walked with her to the gate of the studio and saw her off. Whew! Must say, mehmaan nawaazi ho to 'Shah' jaisi!

Is Amitabh Bachchan getting the script of Bhootnath

Posted On Tuesday, May 08, 2007
Kunal M Shah

The long delay in B R Films's Bhootnath starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla has resulted in many stories being circulated about the ongoing war between SRK and Amitabh Bachchan. One of the key reasons for the film's delay seems to stem from the fact that Amitabh Bachchan is yet to shoot for the film. There are rumours that Big B has asked the director to rework the script as he isn't quite satisfied with the way his role has shaped up.

The director of Bhootnath, Vivek Sharma, says, "Amitabh Bachchan has not yet shot for the film. We are facing some problems with the dates. Amitji has not asked us to rework the script. I agree that the film has been delayed by three months but that is largely due to Abhishek's wedding and Amitji's commitment to Ram Gopal Varma's Sholay. He has a different get-up in Sholay and also in our film. It would have been difficult for him to get into two different get-ups simultaneously and so Bhootnath has been delayed. I am aware of all these rumours about Mr Bachchan wanting his role improved because of the war between Shah Rukh Khan and him. But trust me, I have seen how much SRK respects Mr. Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan's professionalism is legendary. I have been shooting with Shah Rukh and I will start shooting with Amitji in July."

However, our source informs, "There is definitely some tension, and that's why Amitabh Bachchan has not yet started work on Bhootnath. In fact, Mr Bachchan has been busy shooting for other films that he had signed after Bhootnath. Bhootnath was supposed to be shot in December 2006. However, the film kept getting delayed. Amitji is yet to give a green signal to the film and he has asked both Ravi Chopra and Vivek to rework the script. It is a known fact that inspite of being projected as an Amitabh film, Shah Rukh has an equally strong role, in terms of the length and prominence. And that's the real reason for the film's delay."

Shah Rukh, Saif, Sanjay and Salman in Farah's next

By IndiaFM News Bureau, May 7, 2007 - 11:05 IST

Well this one makes quite a picture. Capturing some of the biggest stars like Shah Rukh, Salman, Sanjay Dutt and Saif Ali Khan in the same frame is something only a few directors get to achieve. With a friend like Shah Rukh things definitely get simplified for the choreographer turned director Farah Khan.

The picture above was shot during a dance sequence for Farah's upcoming film Om Shanti Om starring Shah Rukh and model turned actress Deepika Padukone. And if you thought this was it, well then you are in for some surprise. The song sequence not only stars the four hunky actors but 30 more superstars like Karisma Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Priyanka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty, Tabu, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee, Urmila Matondkar, Rekha, Vidya Balan, Shabana Azmi, Juhi Chawla, Amrita Arora, Zayed Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Dino Morea, Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Mithun Chakraborty, Dharmendra, Jeetendra, Tusshar Kapoor, Govinda, Suniel Shetty and Bobby Deol.

With a line up of the best of the industry shaking their leg together the film is going to be quite a must watch with a star studded item number and some power packed performances.

Don 2: Priyanka's out, Sush is in!

By: Tushar Joshi
May 8, 2007

The Don sequel is very much on, but Chopra's continued presence remains unconfirmed

Maybe, Baby: Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra kicked some serious butt in Farhan Akhtar's Don.

However, the chances of her appearing in the sequel are bleak.

A source working on the film reveals that the Krrish actress will not be a part of the second installment.

Says the insider, "At the moment, the film is in its early stage.

A draft has been made and talks are on over the final shape DON 2 will take.

However, the chances of Priyanka being in the film are very slim."

The source adds that Priyanka is being edged out in favour of Sushmita Sen. "Talks are still in the early stages, but Sush is definitely one of the names being considered for the film.

The casting will be done once the script is ready. Shah Rukh will have two leading ladies this time too."

Too early to talk

Main Hoon Naa! Sushmita Sen

Priyanka who is currently in Srinagar for an event, says, "I haven't yet been approached for the film, neither am I aware that a sequel is being planned."

Another theory doing the round is that the sequel will have a totally fresh storyline picking up from where the first one ended.

"Apart from Shah Rukh, no other name has been confirmed.

Sush is in consideration because she fits into the action genre and has the ability to pull off stunts," adds the source.

Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment, who produced Don with Akhtar, doesn't confirm or deny these developments. "There's nothing as of now to talk about," he says.

Yeh dosti... hum zaroor jodenge

Friends-turned-foesturned-friendsturned... BT explores the twists and turns in filmi friendships

SABA SHAIKH Times News network

Yeh dosti hum nahin todenge… This may be the song on Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan's lips, for they have buried the hatchet after waging a cold war for many years. The two "are spending quality time together" and are jointly working on a mega project. Whether their bonding stands the test of time remains to be seen, but the reconciliation has once again highlighted the on and off state of real relationships in the reel world. Bombay Times presents the bond of friendship, Bollywood ishtyle

Salman Khan-Shah Rukh Khan

King Khan and Sallu's camaraderie was witnessed at film award functions until Salman came to visit then girlfriend Aishwarya Rai on the sets of SRK's home production Chalte Chalte. He created such a ruckus that he was asked to leave and Ash was replaced as the lead actress of the movie. SRK, who tried to mediate between the two, later publicly apologised for 'interfering' in the affairs of his friends. But the two Khans remained aloof and Ash refused to work with SRK after that. It is believed that the Karan-Arjun of Bollywood wept, kissed and made up at choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan's wedding in 2004. However, some discomfort was still evident between them. Finally, all rumours were set to rest when Salman appeared on Kaun Banega Crorepati 3 with Katrina Kaif in tow recently.

Amitabh Bachchan-Shah Rukh Khan

The two superstars were like one big family, with Jaya Bachchan calling Shah Rukh her son. But in 2004 at an award ceremony, Amitabh was given a seat in the 14th row, which was not acceptable to his dear friend Amar Singh. Shah Rukh referred to Singh's intervention as goondagardi, and the bonding soured. Ever since SRK stepped into Big B's shoes (doing Don and KBC), the sparring came out in the open. Amitabh even spoke tersely about SRK in public. King Khan was also absent at the Abhiash wedding.

Sorry Khan't make it!

By: Upala KBR
May 9, 2007

Wizcraft, the entertainment company that manages the International Indian Film Academy Awards, is having a tough time getting A-list stars to put in an appearance at the ceremony in Yorkshire (England) next month.

The word around B-Town is that it is because of Amitabh Bachchan, who is the brand ambassador of the awards.

One actor who is definitely not attending is Shah Rukh Khan, even though he is immensely popular with the English population.

Says SRK, "I'm not going because the function is always fixed during my kids' holidays.

It's extremely difficult to take three days out for the event."

'B'ware

According to an industry source, it's not a co-incidence that SRK will be absent this year. "The last time Shah Rukh attended IIFA was in Amsterdam in 2005.

He skipped the event in Dubai the year later, and officially it was said he was holidaying with his family in London.

But the real reason was the cold war between him and Amitabh Bachchan.

Karan Johar had to organise two music release functions for Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna in London and at IIFA in Dubai to appease both SRK and Bachchan," says the source.

As for the real reason why SRK will be skipping the event in Yorkshire, the source says, "SRK was royally snubbed when he wasn't invited to the AbhiAsh wedding. Also, Amitabh, Abhishek and Ash will be present as the Bachchan family brand, thus stealing the limelight from other stars. It's no wonder then that they are wary of attending."

'Shaadi' affair

Andre Simmons of Wizcraft is reportedly worried that Khan's non-attendance will hamper ticket sales, as shindigs like IIFA are sold on the strength of stars performers and attendees.

Adds the source, "Salman Khan too is in two minds over attending the show. He and SRK had decided to boycott the event as they were upset about not being invited to the wedding. But now, Salman might perform with Govinda, though he hasn't confirmed anything yet."

When we ask Govinda, he says, "I have not been informed about this, but it would be great if Salman and I could perform together."

Rakesh Roshan confirms that he will be attending along with Hrithik, but the star son won't perform.

Name dropping

However, Sabbas Joseph of Wizcraft puts on a brave front. He says, "The attendance is pretty good this year. Some stars might be missing and some are still to confirm, but we have a good line-up of international celebrities too.

Colin Firth, and Sienna Miller are some of the international names who will be there.

There will also be a charity cricket match between Yorkshire XI and IIFA XI, which will have names like Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kapil Dev, Mohammed Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Rakeysh Mehra, Emraan Hashmi, Abhishek Bachchan and others."

COMEDY HONOURS: Shah Rukh Khan handed over the Comedy Honours Awards.

Mumbai: A Hindi movie channel organised Comedy Honours awards in Mumbai on Sunday, a special event to award some of the best Bollywood comedies. And to do the honours, came none other than the sultan of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan.

While King Khan had a re-union of sorts with good friends Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza, keeping the jovial mood intact were some of the best comedy flicks.

"I feel those who can't do comedy can't act. My favorite comic actors are Peter Sellers, Juhi Chawla, Sridevi and at times Johnny Lever, Govinda amongst others," said SRK.

While actors like Govinda, Raj Pal Yadav Anupam Kher, Ayesha Takia walked the red carpet, the show stealers were none other than Raju Hirani and Sanjay Dutt of the Munnabhai team.

After all, it was Lage Raho Munnabhai that walked away with the Hrishikesh Mukherjee Award for socially relevant comedy films.

"It's beautiful to work in a film like Munnabhai. It's a situational comedy and I loved it," said Sanjay Dutt.

Juhi Chawla and Govinda received special recognition for comic excellence, and both seemed quite touched.

In the long list of award nights these days, one dedicated to some of our funniest big screen moments is definately a good idea. It might even inspire our filmmakers to make funnier films.

'Those who can't do comedy, can't act'

April 30, 2007

It was a reunion of sorts. Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla shared the stage together at the Star Gold Comedy Honours 2007 event, held on Sunday, April 29, in Mumbai.

SRK was there to present an award to Juhi for her special recognition in comic excellence. He spoke to Nayan Rao about his views on parallel cinema, and his take on comedy films.

This is the first time that such an event based on comedy is taking place and you're attending it. What's your take on it?

According to me, those who can't do comedy simply cannot act or perform. My own favourite comedians are Peter Sellers, Johnny Lever and Govinda, who are well-versed with its nuances.

Among the actresses, Juhi Chawla and Sridevi have perfect comic timing. We should understand that comedy is one of the most important aspects of acting.

When will viewers get to see Juhi and you together in films again?

Right now, I have not signed any film with her but would love to work with her again. She is my favourite actress. We are doing a guest appearance in a film called Bhootnath.

You have this image of loverboy attached to you. Have you ever wished that sometime, you were also dubbed a good comedian?

I have a sense of humour. Normally, when you do a romantic film or a love story like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, it has its own dose of comedy. I don't know much about this image of mine. Our films are mostly like a variety show. You have to have a bit of comedy, bit of romance, bit of action... So I think I had my fill of it though I don't think I am fantastic at comedy. I am alright.

The film industry always prefers following a trend. Currently, the trend is comedy. How long will it last?

I think comedy will never lose its place. From films like Jane Bhi Do Yaaron to Padosan to films like Bhoot Bangla, comedies have always been there. I have heard Bheja Fry is doing very well as well as Khosla Ka Ghosla.

You have always worked with big banners. When will we get to see you doing parallel or art cinema, which you dabbled in the initial phase of your career?

I don't work with big banners; I only work with directors and if they happen to be associated with big banners, I can't help it. The films offered to me should make me interested, so it's not about doing parallel films.

I am not going to do films just because it's an art film. If I feel like I will do it. For example, Chak De India is a serious subject like Swades. He became a big name after Lagaan but Ashu is an old friend of mine and we have been discussing films together. So for me, it is not important that I only do big producers' films or parallel films. If I like the story, I will do it.

You are here to present an award to Juhi Chawla, how do you feel being on the other side of the fence?

I am very, very honoured. I think I became an actor looking at actors like Juhi and Aamir Khan, when I came to Bombay and they all are wonderful actors.

A few days' ago, a Delhi High Court ordered a probe in response to a PIL filed on celebrities winning huge sum of money at Kaun Banega Crorepati. What's your take on it?

Everybody has a right to question. There is a PIL and I am sure Star TV will have their own audits and methodology. This happens every time KBC comes on air. I don't think it's true at all. I don't exactly know what the PIL is but Star TV will make sure that they give their audit reports. Everybody has a right to present their case and somebody has done it. It's alright.
