Shah Rukh Khan's vacation is special

His energy never fades down but Shah Rukh needs to break when he hears the bells ringing from his heart for his family. SRK has been working incessantly for past few months now. Shah Rukh has been finishing Yash Raj Films' "Chak De India" early this year and after that he has been finishing his tint with television alongside friend Faraf's "Om Shanti Om". But now the king khan plans to take a three month break for his family and kids. And you can be sure that still he won't be resting. His work priority will be his Red Chillies Entertainment. SRK will equip his production company with more F-X savvy techniques. In the meanwhile he will have a cameo done for Viveck Vaswani's "Dulha Mil Gaya" starring Sushmita Sen. Hmm…if that's what you call a vacation then it looks like most are us are always on vacation!

Shah Rukh Khan winds up KBC

Shah Rukh Khan is all set to wind up this season of KBC and he doesn't want anyone to go without winning something. So the way out is to gift all the contestants with a Hundai Santro car. Yes, you have heard this strategy earlier and even Shah Rukh remembers it- The Oprah Winfrey Act! But whatever be the strategy, no contestant from the nine players will go empty-handed on the last day of the season which will be on the 28th of March.

Also Shahrukh's cordial gesture with the participants behind the scenes has ended in his secretary settling business partnership offers with the contestants. And SRK is seriously pondering upon some of the offers. I tell you that he is a sweetheart!

No Smalltalk between Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan

One chance to bring Big B and SRK to share screen space together was Ravi Chopra's Bhoothnath, but even that seems to be of no consequence now.

Shahrukh Khan and Juhi Chawla play parents to the kid who, after the family shifts to Goa, finds out a friendly ghost which can be seen only him. Amitabh Bachchan plays the friendly ghost but the actor and SRK has to come together on screen for the climax scene. Disappointingly both won't be exchange any conversation as no one apart from the kid can see the ghost and so doesn't SRK. Hmm…so there is no room for media to cook up stories to fuel the inconvenient relation between the two. But I am sure even if they were asked to converse like in Mohabbattein, the actors would do it with ease. Their professionalism is quite famous after all! The film will be a visual treat for the audience, especially for the kids. And it will be good to see Shahrukh and Juhi together again after a long time. The movie will be ready by July 2007.

Karan Johar, Kajol and Shah Rukh Kahn together

Karan Johar has plans to cast Kajol as his lead heroine. Though no script has been discussed formally, Johar has been working on some project, going to New York to fix locations and has also been meeting NGOs. All this indicates that he is running around to collect materials for his next film "Khan" which is a film on terrorism. And as all of us know that "Khan" is none other than King Khan himself, I guess Kajol will star opposite to SRK. Wow that means the silver screen jodi will be back soon. I so can't wait to see them on screen!

Amitabh Bachchan will be invisible for Shah Rukh Khan

31st Mar 2007 18.00 IST
By Agencies

Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are acting in a film together but they will be hardly seen on screen together.

Bachchan and SRK will hardly share any screen space too, except for the climax sequence in the supernatural film in Ravi Chopra 's Bhootnath .

This might be a conscious move on the part of the production house to avoid any friction between the actors.

Bachchan plays a ghost in the film, making it relatively easy for the makers to tweak the screenplay. Apparently, mortal beings cannot see Bhootnath (Bachchan) and so SRK will conveniently see through his fellow colleague in the film.

The duo is yet to shoot their respective sequences and since Bachchan has put his foot down and told the production house that he will face the camera only after son Abhishek Bachchan 's wedding the film will only be completed by June-July.

Earlier too, the actor had delayed the schedule due to mother Teji Bachchan's ill health. "Mr. Bachchan will not shoot for a month as he is busy with the wedding preparations. But that won't cause any delay. We will shoot in back-to-back schedules, in June and July," Chopra said.

The plot has SRK and Juhi Chawla playing a couple who move to Goa with their son. The kid befriends an eerie spirit, Bhootnath.

An expensive set will be erected at Film City where the next schedule will be shot.

KBC experience will make me a better actor: Shah Rukh Khan

31st Mar 2007 22.00 IST
By Agencies

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said the experience of hosting television show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) will make him a better actor.

Talking to reporters recently on the sets of the game show at Film City in suburban Mumbai, SRK said he was feeling bad that the show is coming to an end.

''Over the last three months, I met over 100 contestants and interacted with them backstage as well. Belief in god, love for children and sense of humour was common trait among all contestants. There should be an essence of simplicity in our lives. I think the experience of interacting with different kinds of people will make a positive difference in my acting skills,'' SRK said.

The 52-episode season will end on April 20 and the actor will shoot the last episode on Wednesday. ''There will be a sense of emptiness with me when the show ends. Earlier, I felt 52 episodes would be too long and now I am feeling that the season is coming to an end so soon,'' SRK added.

''I will miss the fear of coming to KBC sets,'' the King Khan added.

Speaking about his experience on the show, SRK said he had tried to bring humour, entertainment and ease on the sets while interacting with contestants.

Lauding the efforts of the KBC crew for their prcised programming, SRK said the backend was amazingly handled for this show, which is a serious entertaining stuff.

To a question on criticism that he was awkward in the initial episodes and later comfortably settled in the role of an anchor, SRK said, ''It is true that I am restless and move a lot. I have read media reports that I was awkward initially. May be it's true. Even Siddharth Basu and other members of the crew would bring it to my notice.''

SRK said as a KBC host, he was closest to what he was in real life.

When asked about difference between the show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan and himself, SRK said the difference lay in the personalities of the hosts involved. Each has his own individual style. Novelty of the show has its own success ratio. Besides, it has great production value.

''I have my own style. I cant say whether it was good or bad. I am just doing my job. Comparisons should not have been made. But, they were inevitable. I do not look back on the work I have done. In fact, I do not even watch my own films,'' SRK added.

To a question on the gifts he presented to contestants who did not do well, SRK said ''I have a sense of humour and am easy with people. Presenting contestants with gifts was a spontaneous thought. The gifts like my personal watches were given to very young contestants whom I genuinely felt should do well in life.''

Presenting Santro cars to nine contestants on Tuesday night's episode was a gesture on part of the car manufacturers to make the contestants feel special. ''It was not a commercial aspect. I think I played my part as a host in making my guests feel at home and very special,'' SRK added.

SRK said the second season will begin by the end of this year or early 2008 depending on adjustment of his dates with that of Siddharth Basu's Synergy Adlabs and Star India.

Juhi to make singing debut in Bhootnath?

By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 31, 2007 - 05:58 IST

Juhi Chawla, who played a mellow wife to Anil Kapoor in Salaam-E-Ishq, is now set to up the pace of her Bollywood career. She will be seen in Vivek Sharma's Bhootnath in 2007. But this time, it is not just her acting skills that she will employ. The lovely actress is also trying her hand at playback singing for the first time!

There are chances that Juhi may sing a song in Ravi Chopra's impending production Bhootnath. Abhay Chopra confirms, "Although nothing is fixed as yet, there is a very good possibility that Juhi may sing in the film." Juhi has been taking formal training in classical music for almost five years now. She took up music as a hobby when her acting career was in the slow lane. Juhi had in fact sung at an awards function when she was hosting the event with Karan Johar. Her last film with Shah Rukh was Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani in the year 2000 and now Juhi will be seen with Khan again in Bhootnath. She essays the role of a loving mother to a son who befriends a spirit – the latter played by Amitabh Bachchan.

Buzzword was that AB will also be singing a song in Bhootnath. However, Abhay Chopra brushed off this rumour, asserting, "No. Mr. Bachchan is not recording any songs for this film".

Salman Khan unveils NGO on KBC

By IndiaFM News Bureau, March 31, 2007 - 12:18 IST

Salman Khan has received a lot of flak for his infamous deeds in the past. However, the actor has made genuine efforts to rectify his image ever since. After extending financial help to a cancer-stricken child, the brawny actor has decided to institutionalize the cause of helping the disadvantaged.

Salman has applied for the registration of an NGO called the Salman Khan Foundation, which will render support to the poor and needy masses. He decided to throw light on his cause in a special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 3. Hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, the episode was shot recently with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif on the hot seats. It is speculated that the duo have won a prize amount of Rs. 50 lakh on the particular show, which they will forward to the Salman Khan Foundation.

It is learned that Bollywood babes Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor will also be seen together in that episode of KBC.

Thank you, Rahul!

Shah Rukh Khan has literally cashed in on Team India's World Cup disaster. When our cricketing heroes turned zeroes, SRK bagged many of their ad contracts

Ashwini Deshmukh

The Indian cricket team's Cup of woes runneth over. The heroes-turned-zeroes are back home, only to learn that they have not only lost the World Cup (and the adulation) but also the meaty ad projects that got them tons of moolah and fame.

But as they say, someone's loss is someone's gain. After Team India's dismal performance at the World Cup, it's now time for Shah Rukh Khan to seduce the consumers with a host of ad films. The buzz goes that several companies are keen to sign King Khan who has consistently maintained his star quotient over the years. Ad-filmmakers are heading straight towards Mannat with their contracts, which will definitely add a few more crores (estimated at Rs 12-15 crores) to SRK's bank balance.

For instance, Videocon has put a hold on its contract with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and if sources are to be believed, SRK's contract will be renewed. P N Dhoot, MD, Videocon, says, "Yes. We are renewing our contract with Shah Rukh Khan. His popularity cannot be compared to any cricketer like Dhoni or Dravid. He's above all, in any given season. He has helped our brand image to a big extent over the last few years. Earlier, Dhoni was available for a reasonable price, so we gave him a chance. He won't be featuring in our ads now."

Mahendra Dhoni, Irfaan Pathan, Virendra Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh

The only exception in this situation is Sachin Tendulkar who is still remains a favourite icon. The latest development is that most companies have resolved to not work with Indian cricketers for at least a year now. "Pepsi's campaign with players like Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Irfaan Pathan and Virendra Sehwag might exist but the company has decided not to shoot any new ads with them. They'd rather invest in SRK and release new ads with him. Sachin may be the only exception," says an ad man.

He adds, "A leading confectionary company from the North was in talks with two big cricketers before the World Cup, (apparently Sachin was one of them) but now they are considering asking SRK to be their brand ambassador."

Meanwhile Sansui Ltd. has also decided not to extend its contract with skipper Rahul Dravid. "Sansui has decided to discontinue its association with Dravid, which ended just before the World Cup. They will now consider Bollywood stars, though not SRK this time as he is already endorsing a direct competitor, Videocon. But, one thing is sure - no more cricketers for at least for a year," admits our source from Videocon.

The ad man says, "SRK is absolutely priceless at the moment. He doesn't charge much for his films but when it comes to ads, he is the highest-paid star around."

Our Videocon source adds, "SRK never demands a price. He gets big bucks without even asking for it. His contract with Videocon in terms of money has been the same for the past six years. SRK has not asked for any increase from us. But since we are renewing our contract with SRK, we promise to make it a far bigger deal than it has been all these years."

Shah Rukh Khan has Brad Pitt for company!

We've heard that the kind of ovation Shah Rukh Khan gets in UK is no less than a Hollywood star. At Madame Tussauds wax museum, SRK's statue will not share space with Amitabh Bachchan's or the other Bachchan-tobe Aishwarya Rai's. Instead, SRK will be standing with the likes of Brad Pitt and other international faces, or so we hear. Well, wherever he may be standing, SRK'll be standing tall, for sure!
