This is the way to build your body

Shah Rukh plays big brother, asks young Mimoh Chakraborty to work out with him at his gym

Posted On Saturday, July 14, 2007

Shah Rukh Khan has taken it upon himself to set things right for newcomer Mithun Chakraborty's son Mimoh. Although SRK was impressed with Mimoh's dancing and acting skills, he told Mimoh that he needs to work on his body. The star has now asked Mimoh to work out with him at his personal gym every day.

Shah Rukh Khan recently worked with Mithunda when they both shot for Om Shanti Om. That's where he also met Mimoh. SRK and Mimoh hit it off instantly. Consequently, he has met Mimoh on several occasions, and watched the rushes of his film too. During these meetings, SRK not only guided Mimoh on various aspects of acting but also gave the youngster some valuable suggestions.

Mithunda confirmed the news. He said, "I showed Mimoh's video to Shah Rukh and Farah. Shah Rukh said, 'Mimoh is a mind-blowing dancer!' Shah Rukh did ask him to work out more on his body and has even asked him to work out with him, under his guidance. Not just that, he has also helped Mimoh with all his contacts and has stood by him in every possible way."

Mimoh

He adds, "Shah Rukh and Farah are very fond of Mimoh. In fact, Salman, Sohail, Govinda and the entire gang treat him like their own family. They have been guiding him on every aspect. Since Mimoh is an introvert, this kind of interaction and guidance is really great for him. It's great to see all of them supporting Mimoh."

Mimoh is currently suffering from viral fever and has been advised bed rest. He says, "I have been down with viral fever. But I am looking forward to training with Shah Rukh as soon as I get better."

SRK is fine!

By: A hitList Correspondent
July 14, 2007

"I am all right — just a small scratch. Nothing at all," says Shah Rukh Khan when asked about the mishap he was involved in. As reported 'SRK injured in multiplex' (MiD DAY, July 13), Shah Rukh had a minor accident on Thursday night when the glass door at the Red Lounge in Cinemax, Andheri, gave way showering him with glass pieces.

The actor was at the music release and premiere of Chintu Mohapatra's Jai Jagannath along with Mani Ratnam.

We must add that SRK has lost oodles of weight and has grown his mane post his London trip. Is it for his tycoon character in Viveck Vaswani's Dulha Mil Gaya which he begins shooting shortly?

SRK, Mani Ratnam at historic JAI JAGANNATH Premiere

Making the event even grander were luminaries such as Shah Rukh Khan along with his wife Gauri...

In an attempt to introduce different genres of films to patrons, Cinemax associated with the much-awaited mythological movie JAI JAGANNATH in a big way! Cinemax not only hosted the premiere but also conducted the music launch for the film in 15 different languages for the very first time in history. All this was held in the magnificent foyer of Cinemax Versova.

Making the event even grander were luminaries such as Shah Rukh Khan along with his wife Gauri, Mani Ratnam and Shankar attending the event.

To launch the movie's music in an extraordinary manner, Cinemax presented a beautifully organized skit with God's favourite "Naradmuni" as the host. For every new language, Naradmuni, famous for his wit and humour, invited a different celebrity guest present to release the melodious tunes.

Mr. Devang Sampat, Vice President, Marketing & Programming, CINEMAX, said, "Cinemax has hosted different genres of films till date but this is our first experience with a mythological film. India being a very religious country, mythological movies hold a very special place in the hearts of people. Another highlight of this event, which makes it unique and unusual, is that for the first time, in the history of events, a Music Launch is being hosted immediately to be followed by a Premiere! And of course, we are immensely pleased to welcome King Khan, Mani Ratnam along with Shankar at our property."

Shah Rukh Khan : The Ultimate Icon

An excerpt from A Guide to Indian Movie Stars

India is a massive, crowded country of hustle and grind. With so many people, competitive drive isn't just inevitable, it's admirable. Indian audiences look up to stars who they believe exemplify the rugged warrior virtues that spell success: lithe, statuesque Amitabh Bachan, brawny Sanjay Dutt, or Salman Khan. It's rare that someone comes along who represents the average Indian, and is loved for it. India doesn't usually have the wistful admiration for the reticent, yearning everyman. But if the country had their own versions of Jimmy Stewart and Gary Cooper, they'd probably be very close to Dilip Kumar, Naseeruddin Shah, and Shahrukh Khan.

Shahrukh Khan's reputation precedes him.

He's huge.

His celebrity is at level with Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor at the time of their Andy Warhol silkscreen portraits: movie actor as cultural icon.

Swarms of people gather at his shows, his movies, and whenever he is hosting an event.

How did someone whose appeal is that he's an accessible, everyguy grow into a superstar? Something similar happened to Tom Hanks, yet few people want to mob him when he's in public.

People have to be literally restrained when Shahrukh walks by, and not just teens, but middle-aged women and men as well.

Shahrukh's movies in the late '80s and early '90s had him as an awkward, yearning teen. Early on he showed great range in playing both heroes and villains. His relentless stalker in Yash Chopra's Darr (1993) was a disarmingly poignant portrayal of a morally repugnant character, not unlike Peter Lorre's child-murderer in M.

His affability and gift for musical performance shot him up the ranks to being one of the most versatile, bankable actors. In 1998, two movies made him the most popular star in Indian commercial cinema, the deliriously inane, but wildly popular Badshaah and Karan Johar's endearingly schmaltzy Parent Trap send-up, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

His popularity grew, and in recent years he's shown a gift for nuanced acting in films like Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Veer-Zaara (2004), Swades (2004) and Don (2005).

He's one of India's most well-rounded stars, a thoughtful actor as well as a great dancer and performer, but most important, he's someone Indians identify with intimately; he could be the teasing neighbor, or the winsome cousin, or a protective brother.

Watching him talk to his awe-struck fans on the game show he hosts on his off-season from making movies, Kaun Banega Crorepati (the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? ) is really quite amazing: he's unusually giving and open for someone so famous, and the audience responds with unabashed enthusiasm and gratitude. In spite of all Shahrukh's celebrity, he's never forgotten from where he came.

SRK vs Bhansali on Diwali

SRK has been keen on releasing his film for Diwali as he feels it has a very festive mood and feel in keeping with the season.

It has been confirmed that both SRK's film Om Shanti Om and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Saawariya will release together on November 9, the Diwali week.

Earlier it was rumoured that both Shahrukh and Bhansali would be at loggerheads as both their films were releasing on the same day. But Shahrukh has put a rest to all rumours by actually sorting the matter out amicably with Sanjay. Shahrukh apparently told Bhansali that they should not higgle and haggle over minor things like release dates etc before the press. Also they were all in the same boat as they are in the same industry and there was ample of space for both films in the market. Both SRK and Bhansali agreed that both the films could do well in spite of releasing on the same date. SRK has been keen on releasing his film for Diwali as he feels it has a very festive mood and feel in keeping with the season. SRK has had many of his hit films released during the Diwali week. Last year too SRK's Don released along with another big film, Salman's Jaanemann.

Some girls won't bite a biscuit out of Shah Rukh Khan's mout

by VaraMohini on Sat Jul 14, 2007 3:12 am

Dia Mirza, while filming a commercial, played so coy about biting a biscuit out of Shah Rukh Khan's mouth that she just couldn't get the scene right resulting in repeated re-shoots.

A commercial being made by SRK's Red Chillies entertainment and directed by Vishal Punjabi required Dia Mirza, playing SRK's wife, to make-up after an ugly spat by teasingly biting a biscuit out of his mouth.

The Miss Asia Pacific (2000) played so coy about getting close to SRK that she just couldn't get the scene right resulting in repeated re-shoots.

The shoot that should have taken just a few hours stretched out for the whole day.

It wasn't until SRK had eaten 27 packets of biscuits that the 25-year-old finally got her act right.

"Dia was embarrassed as it took her a while to take away Shah Rukh's biscuit. But she is very sweet and we had a wonderful time filming the commercial," says Punjabi

What is up with Dia? What was she worried about?

If anyone had to be worried it should have been Gauri Khan, say all the girls in our editorial staff, who also claim they would have bitten SRK's lips along with the biscuit! Maybe with a bitten lip, Punjabi would have been forced to repeat the shoot!

Loosen up Dia!

Posted On Sunday, July 22, 2007, Indu Linggi, mumbaimirror
Shah Rukh Khan is a gizmo freak. It's a known fact that he loves techno toys. Recently we discovered that SRK is actually quite a kid when it comes to gaming. Apparently he has set up a gaming zone at his sprawling gym in the new building adjoining Mannat.

Says a source, "Shah Rukh has set up this entire gaming zone in his gym where he plays every night, after working out. A bunch of friends who work out with him, along with his trainer Prashant and Nitish (Gauri Khan's brother), fight it out over foosball and other virtual games."

SRK's passion for high-end games has him collecting the latest games available in the market. "A whole set of games starting from the Foosball table, Ice Hockey table and a high-tech play station is set up in the gym, which covers an entire a floor of the building. SRK's got an awesome collection of virtual games, every possible one that is available in the market to date. Tennis, boxing, you name it, and he's got it," says our source.

Shah Rukh Khan
Adds the source, "SRK is an undisputed champion when it comes to Foosball and none of us can beat him in that game. He is also a master at other virtual games."

When contacted, SRK's gym trainer, Prashant Sawant, confirmed this saying, "Yes, we do end up playing lots of games like Ice Hockey and Foosball at SRK's gym. But all this is very personal and I donlt want to talk about it to the media."

SRK's love for gaming is famous amongst his friends. During the shoot of Don in Bangkok, he had set up a play station in his hotel room, where the cast was staying for a long period. And his room was a centre of attraction, where all the cast members turned up for an exciting evening after the shoot. He had also gifted Amitabh Bachchan a play station kit and offered to set it up for him at his place. Mr Bachchan has already confirmed this at a press conference.

Farah Khan to get selective?

FOR FRIENDS ONLY: Farah Khan (TOI Photo)
Farah Khan, planning her next movie, will do choreography only for close friends, KJ and SRK and husband Shirish Kunder.

It's 'break' dance time for Farah Khan. We mean, time for a break from dancing. Farah's made actors dance on train tops but now there's a twist in the tale.

The choreographer wants to be a full-time filmmaker now. She will choreograph only for friends Karan Johar, SRK and hubby Shirish Kunder and spend the rest of her time on new scripts.

In fact, she's already thinking about her next film without wasting time mulling over it.

Well Farah, before you make the big move, could you please direct a few more chaiyya chaiyyas for old time's sake?

Shah Rukh Khan

After the blockbuster film Sivaji, starring Rajnikanth, director S Shankar is all set to work with Shah Rukh Khan. Shankar and Shah Rukh Khan will work together for an action thriller.

Apparently, Shah Rukh has been in talks to work with Shankar for a long time now. Though the actor has yet to sign on the dotted line, the duo has discussed the script and other details of the film.

It was only on the actor's request that the shooting will commence after a while. SRK has agreed to begin shooting for Shankar's film only after as he completes Shirish Kunder's film, which is untitled so far.

S Shankar
Shankar has won tremendous accolades for his recent release, Sivaji, prompting the makers to dub the film in Hindi and other foreign languages. A popular director from Tamil Nadu, Shankar has made many commercial Tamil movies based on social themes. He is also credited with delivering expensive, high-end computer graphics in most of his films.

He started his career with Gentleman followed by blockbusters like Kadhalan, Indian, Jeans (one of Aishwarya Rai's first Hindi film) and Mudhalvan. He also directed the remake of Mudhalvan in Hindi titled Nayak with Anil Kapoor and Rani Mukherji.

His recent release Sivaji: The Boss, which released on June 15 is said to have broken all Indian ticket sale records.

Who, me? I can't sing!

Asha Bhonsle is keen on having Shah Rukh Khan sing for the second volume of Asha & Friends, but SRK doesn't want to do so
Posted On Tuesday, July 24, 2007,mumbaimirror

Shahrukh Khan
While most actors are jumping at the prospect of exercising their vocal chords along with Asha Bhonsle (in the second volume of her album, Asha & Friends), Shah Rukh Khan is not exactly keen on taking up the microphone, for reasons best known to him. If sources are to be believed, the songstress expressed her desire to team up with Shah Rukh for a special track in the second instalment of her out-of-the-box album, where she usually teams up with non-professional singers, last year. After their first meeting Shah Rukh begged out of the collaboration saying that he is in chest-deep work including films and endorsements.

Meanwhile, Asha has successfully recorded a song and shot for a music video with one of her favourite actors Mithun Chakaraborty, and also convinced Boman Irani to be a part of the album too. Sources indicate that fresh talks are on with Shah Rukh but the actor is not very enthusiastic about the offer.

Asha Bhonsle
A source close to the songstress informs that Shah Rukh's rapping in a popular sound track of Don and his full-fledged song in Josh had prompted Asha to request the actor to sing with her. However, she is extremely unhappy that Shah Rukh will not be a part of the album that hits the music stores in November this year.

"Ashaji is very unhappy because Shah Rukh couldn't make it. I believe he is too busy with Om Shanti Om and other projects of his animation studio. But we are still trying to persuade him," says a source close to the songstress.

Another source close to Shah Rukh argues: "Shah Rukh is genuinely committed to other projects. If he had the time he would have definitely lent his voice for the album."

Asha Bhonsle was not available for comment.

24th July 2007 23.01 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan might team up with the Sivaji director, Shankar, for a movie.

Shankar's last movie 'Sivaji – The Boss', starring Rajnikant , has turned out to be a super-duper hit. And now, after working with the undisputed king of Tamil cinema, Shankar is said to be thinking of working with Shah Rukh Khan in his next project.

Reports have it that Shankar has expressed interest in signing SRK for his next movie, which will be a sci-fi thriller with lots of special effects.

One thing common between SRK and Shankar is their love for FX. In fact, SRK has recently been upgrading his company Red Chillies Entertainment with the new state-of-the-art technology to create special effects at par with Hollywood standards.

There is a possibility that SRK himself might decide to produce the film with Shankar.
