Crowds love SRK in London

Reader Sanjay Gupta got a chance to see King Khan live as he interacted with the crowd in London.

"Shah Rukh Khan was very humble and charming," says Sanjay of the actor whose upcoming film, Chak De India is all set for release on August 10. It's clearly evident that the crowd really loves him.

SRK replaces the girls in Chak De India TV promos

It sure looks like Yash Raj Films is planning to stick to the tried and tested measures for their upcoming film Chak De India starring Shah Rukh Khan and a team full of women hockey players. Brand new billboards of Chak De displayed all over the city and the promos that have hit our television screens are laying more emphasis on King Khan rather than the girls around whom the story revolves.

Initially the Chak De promos had not gone down well and many theatres were withdrawing the ten minute promo as it was being booed and jeered by theatre audiences. Theatre managers felt the emphasis shown on the girls that form the women's hockey team did not go down well with the crowds.

The promos in the theatres showed each individual girl saying Chak De India! in her own regional accent and was pulled off in three days time. And it looks like in order to avoid a repeat, Yash Raj have decided to alter their TV promos. The current promos on television lay greater emphasis on Shah Rukh rather than the girls even though the story is all about a women's hockey team.

With three movies failing to make an impact on the balance sheet, it sure looks like Yash Chopra and gang want to stick to the original formula – bring in the star and the fans will follow!

For Shirish, SRK is the coolest star

He is planning to make a sci-fi film with SRK playing the main lead in it.

Shirish Kunder is all set to direct Shah Rukh Khan in a feature film. The director already had a trial run with the actor.

When asked about his experience while working with SRK, Kunder promptly replied, "He is the coolest star I have worked with so far."

Kunder has edited two films of SRK's home production Main Hoon Naa and Om Shanti Om which is ready for release.

He is planning to make a sci-fi film with SRK playing the main lead in it. Shirish Kunder's start as a director wasn't really a good one.

Salman Khan, the lead actor of his debut film Jaaneman and Kunder didn't really get along well on the set. The film failed to appeal to the audience at the box office.

Shirish Kunder-n-SRK

We earlier shared about Shirish Kunder's new project with SRK and now we have more news to share about his movie. The director is planning a desi-version of the famous Jim Carrey flick 'The Mask'.

The movie is titled 'Joker' and it's now confirmed news that Shahrukh will be seen in the main lead. Shirish is working with Hollywood technicians to finalize all the special effects for the movie. Shahrukh, who is currently shooting for 'Om Shanti Om', will next be shooting for a special appearance in 'Bhootnath' and once these projects are underway he plans to commence shooting for 'Joker'.

With Preity as Shirish's first choice, Shahrukh being inclined more towards casting Priyanka and Farah, who wants her debutante actress Deepika to bag another biggie, the female lead is yet to be finalized.

We are sure with these three strong contenders in the running, it sure will take a while till the 'Joker' finally reveals his 'Jaan-E-Maan'.

Pulling a prank on SRK's 'Don'

11th July 2007 18.37 IST
By ApunKaChoice

Trust filmmaker David Dhawan to create comedy out of innovative ideas in his movies.

In Dhawan's forthcoming film Partner , there is a character of a gangster who dresses, talks and walks like Shah Rukh Khan did in Farhan Akhtar's last year's release Don .

Funnily enough, the character is played by the hilarious Rajpal Yadav , who has given a funny makeover to Don by wearing the same black suits and dark shades and even speaking the same dialogues.

One dialogue of Rajpal goes like Gyarah mulko ki police don to dhoond rahi hai. Even the character that Yadav plays in the movie is called Chhota Don.

A source from the film's unit says that the moviegoers will love this character.

'Partner' is a Sohail Khan production directed by David Dhawan . The film stars Salman Khan , Govinda , Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta . Katrina is paired with Govinda (not Salman) in the film.

The film is set to hit the theatres on July 20.

House that?

Soon after her break-up with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone has reportedly moved back with former boyfriend Nihar

Deepika Padukone with Nihar Pandya

Things have ended between Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor. It has alreadu been said that the newly-flourished love between the two upcoming actors has died out completely.

The story has moved forward now. Or backward, actually. To rewind a bit, when love blossomed between Deepika and Ranbir, she had promptly moved out of then boyfriend Nihar Pandya's house with whom she had been living for the past two years.

Now, we hear that after her break-up, she has promptly moved back with Nihar again.

Says our source, "Things were just not working out for Deepika and Ranbir and they decided to call it quits. Now she has moved back with her ex-boyfriend, Nihar Pandya with who she had been staying ever since she shifted to Mumbai from Bangalore. Incidentally, she has also recently bought herself a house in Bandra."

The source adds, "The Om Shanti Om production team needed to send across some documents and dialogue sheets to Deepika's place for her to read. When the production member asked for her address, Deepika said, 'Send it on my old address'. When the production member asked whether she meant her earlier address, Deepika made things very clear by saying, 'Yes, my old address. I have moved back with Nihar.'"

When contacted, Deepika refused to answer our question. She simply said, "Nihar and I are good friends and we continue to be so. But I am single, and the only love of my life right now is Om Shanti Om and my new house. I am very happy doing it up."

Shah Rukh landed up on his sets jlt (just like that), and found Director Deshpande catching a small nap. SRK woke him up with a start and what followed was some great bonding. No guessing who Makrand's Drream Man was, huh!
