Ash still dreams of Hollywood
Bollywood queen Aishwarya Rai continues to get offers from Hollywood despite getting engaged to Abhishek Bachchan, says her international manager Simone Sheffield.

Rubbishing reports that the engagement had spiked Aishwarya's Hollywood prospects, Sheffield told www.hollywood.tv: "Everyone is thrilled with her engagement and we have received thousands of email and cards from her well-wishers."

Aishwarya is one of the few Indian actresses known in Hollywood, particularly after her "Bride and Prejudice". Her "Last Legion" is releasing in Britain, Germany, Italy and Spain in April.

She also got an offer to act in "Provoked", which got rave reviews at film festivals worldwide. "Provoked" is also slated for an April release in the US, Britain and India during the Easter weekend, Sheffield said.

Asked if Aishwarya has any future in Hollywood, Sheffield said: "Yes, by all means. But it is totally up to her what films she chooses to accept.

"She got many offers but she did not accept the roles due to the subject matter, script or schedule. It will take an extra special film to get her back here working in Hollywood in the future."

She also said that Aishwarya was being considered for the roles for not only her looks but acting skills as well.

"Her acting abilities are subtle, quiet yet strong and her beauty just screams in your face. But take note, she has done quite a few films that downplay her beauty. To Aishwarya, beauty is temporary but real beauty is within and eternal."

She admits that her films have not done extraordinarily well but that critics have been supportive of her.

"Her films did just okay but she received the most encouraging reviews. The critics have been good to her (in Hollywood) and looking forward to her future Hollywood releases. When she makes a live appearance, top photographers make it a point to be present there."

Abhishek, Aishwarya to marry in Jodhpur?
IANS

The post-wedding bashes of Hollywood actress Liz Hurley and India-born businessman Arun Nayar next week are certainly the talk of town, but now Rajasthan is rolling out the red carpet for the marriage of none other than actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

Umaid Bhavan Palace may be the ceremony venue for Aishwarya and Abhishek, usually well informed sources say. Amitabh Bachchan has sent a couple of his close friends to Jodhpur to finalise the hotel bookings.

Besides Umaid Bhavan, as many as four other hotels are to be booked in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer for the marriage ceremonies. The Bachchans want these hotels booked for a period of three days from March 18. The marriage is expected to take place March 19, these sources said.

However, March being tourism season in Rajasthan, they are finding it difficult to get the required number of rooms in both the cities, the sources said.

Close friends of the Bachchans who are camping in Jodhpur for the last couple of days have started to look for other hotels nearby, the sources said. These include Khimsar Fort, Balsamand Palace and Rohet Fort.

Earlier, the marriage ceremony was slated to take place in Jaipur's City Palace premises but later the Bachchans decided that Jodhpur it would be.

Sources, however, said so far nothing has been finalised. As directed by astrologers, the Bachchan family is interested in tying the knot as soon as possible.

Before that though, Umaid Bhavan will play host to the much talked about post-wedding parties of Hurley and Nayar. The two will marry in London Saturday after which they will hold celebrations in Mumbai and Jodhpur.

Preparations for the party are reportedly in full swing in Jodhpur where the couple have booked the hotel from March 7-10.

The couple will hold two more parties at the imposing Mehrangarh Fort on March 9 and the pretty red sandstone structure, Balsamand Palace, 5 km from Jodhpur, March 10.

View NISHABD Music Release - Picture GalleryIt is, of course, Umaid Bhavan Palace, that is the most sought after. Perched high above Jodhpur, it is the last of the great palaces of India and one of the largest residences in the world - set amidst 26 acres of lush gardens.

This golden-yellow sandstone monument was conceived on the grandest possible scale, in the fashionable Art Deco style of that time. After 15 years of construction, the 347-room palace was finally completed in 1943 - and has served as the principal residence of the Jodhpur royal family since.

Designed by renowned Edwardian architect Henry Lanchester, the palace is a blend of Eastern and Western architectural influences. A part of the palace is still the residence of the royal family and another section house a museum displaying a range of antiques from the royal past. The hotel portion has 64 rooms, including 40 suites, and is now a part of Taj group of hotels.

Hollywood star couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt had also stayed there during their recent India visit.

Big B visits Ash on the sets of Jodha Akbar
[ 3 Mar, 2007 0923hrs ISTMUMBAI MIRROR ]

MOVIE BUFF: Big B has been really keen on seeing the studio and the shooting of Jodha Akbar (TOI Photo)

Of late, Aishwarya Rai must be chatting a lot with father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, about films in general and her projects in particular. In the course of one such chat session, she told Big B about the impressive organisational skills of director Ashutosh Gowariker, as seen on the sets of her next, Jodha Akbar . So much so, that ever since Ash has started shooting for Jodha Akbar at Nitin Desai Studios at Karjat, Big B has been really keen on seeing the studio and the shooting of the film.

Ash also raved about the sets and her costumes to father-in-law. Neeta Lulla has designed the costumes for Ash, and Ash has been talking about them to everyone. "Amitabh wanted to see Aishwarya Rai in Jodhabai's get-up, but he didn't want to arrive on Ashutosh's sets since Ashutosh doesn't welcome visitors. Then, Nitin Desai thought of throwing a party on the sets on March 7 and invited Amitabh," says a source.

When we contacted art director Nitin Desai, he confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, Mr. Bachchan will be attending the party on March 7. I wanted him to visit the studio and his presence will be like a blessing for all of us."

Nitin adds, "Of course. Both Hrithik Roshan and Ash will be shooting on that date. We are planning to wind up the shooting by 6:30 pm, after that Amitji will look around the studios and then we'll have a party. Amitji will come slightly early and visit the sets of Jodha Akbar , and will also meet Aishwarya Rai."

Aishwarya Rai confirms doing 'Sarkar' sequel
06th Mar 2007 09.01 IST
By Agencies

The gorgeous Aishwarya Rai has confirmed teaming up with Bollywood mega superstar Amitabh Bachchan and fianc Abhishek Bachchan for the sequel of Sarkar .

This was told to a news agency none other than by director Ram Gopal Varma .

< = src="http://media.fastclick.net/w/get.media?sid=18489&m=6&tp=8&d=j&t=n">

News travels fast! Yes, it's true Aishwarya has agreed to be a part of Sarkar 2 . We only need to work out her dates. She'll of course play the lead opposite Abhishek," Varma confirmed.

Considering how much in the news the pair is, Varma has got quite a winning combination on his hands.

Laughs the filmmaker: "I don't think that's the primary motivation for my casting Aishwarya. You see, I've been meaning to work with her for some time. Who doesn't want to work with Aishwarya Rai? But the vehicle has to be worthy of her presence.

"I did approach her on a few occasions earlier. Things didn't work out. I'm glad she's on finally."

'Sarkar 2' which will carry forward the story of the 'Godfather' – like political clan will now have Abhishek playing the messianic saviour of the downtrodden.

The Bachchan senior has confirmed that he would have comparatively less to do in the sequel to "Sarkar". But knowing Varma's passionate proclivity for the Big B's histrionics there's bound to be more of Amitabh than it would outwardly appear possible.

"I can't say right now how much scope the three main stars will have in 'Sarkar 2'. But Amitji, Abhishek and Aishwarya are going to be seen in a light not cast before," revealed Varma, who has just directed Bachchan in Nishabd .

Mumbai, March 6 (IANS)

We saw them together in that sizzling item song in Shaad Ali's "Bunty Aur Babli". Now Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan and daughter-in-law-to-be Aishwarya Rai are teaming up for the first time for a whole film, Ram Gopal Varma's sequel to "Sarkar".

"News travels fast! Yes, it's true Aishwarya has agreed to be a part of 'Sarkar' 2. We only need to work out her dates. She'll of course play the lead opposite Abhishek," Ramu confirmed to IANS.

Ash-Abhi: Meri Shadi Karwao..

Amitabh Bachchan says, "We still haven't got a date. The two of them are so busy, we haven't been able to sit down and work it out. Now, Abhishek's schedule (for Drona) is postponed. So I'm hoping we'd be able to sit down and finally, work out a date.

But Aishwarya is in Karjat shooting, Jaya has gone off to the Parliament. Everyone is impatient. So are Aishwarya and Abhishek."

It was a very moving moment when the Big B went up to the stage at the 52nd Fair One Filmfare awards to give his wife the Lifetime Achievement.

"I didn't know I had to give a speech. So whatever I said came from the heart. I needed to recollect a lifetime with Jaya to give her the trophy for lifetime achievement. That evening brought out a lot of emotions. My daughter Shweta, who's a really tough girl, was moved to tears.

Aishwarya was crying. For Jaya to acknowledge us and Aishwarya's family…was wonderful. The day Abhishek announced Aishwarya was the girl he was going to marry, she became part of our family. I look on Aishwarya as a daughter," he says.

But coming back to wedding plans, the insider reveals that the wedding may not be held in Rajasthan's Jodhpur city due to shortage of hotel rooms, as suggested earlier. Now the new possible venues could be Jaipur or Gwalior, informed sources said.

They say Jodhpur was found unsuitable since March is the peak tourism season in the desert state. The Bachchans had earlier planned to host the marriage at the grand Umaid Bhavan Palace here.

According to sources in Umaid Bhavan Palace, Bollywood's first family has decided to shift the venue to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh or Jaipur. The marriage is expected to take place March 19.

"They want to hold the wedding ceremonies in a heritage property. So they are now looking for a city that can provide them with the required setting. Gwalior and Jaipur seem to be the frontrunners," a hotel source told.

Travel industry experts, however, say that finding the required numbers of rooms in Jaipur in March would also be very difficult because of tourist rush.

Even foreign tourists are desperate for rooms in Rajasthan now.

"It would not be easy for anyone to get rooms in March. We are being forced to change itineraries for our foreign clients this month due to shortage of rooms," said Navendu Goswami, a tour operator.

Amitabh Bachchan had earlier sent couple of his close friends to Jodhpur to finalise the hotel bookings in Umaid Bhavan as well as four other hotels. They wanted to book these hotels for a period of three days from March 18.

As directed by astrologers, the Bachchan family is keen that Abhishek and Aishwarya tie the knot as soon as possible.

Umaid Bhavan, however, is currently all set to play host to the wedding parties of Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar. Hurley and Nayar married in England March 3 after which they will host celebrations in Mumbai and Jodhpur. The couple arrived in Mumbai Monday. The couple have booked the hotel from March 7-10.

Abhishek-Aishwarya wedding on March 19 in Jaipur!
by Debasis Jana

The much-awaited wedding of actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai is going to take place on March 19 in Jaipur. Earlier, Jodhpur was fixed as the marriage venue, but as per latest, Jodhpur has been cancelled because the city won't have enough hotels then since March is the peak tourism season in the desert state. As per close source, the choice is now oscillating between Jaipur and Gwalior . Source says Rajasthan's historical city Jaipur has more chance than Gwalior for hosting the spectacular event.
"They want to hold the wedding ceremonies in a heritage property. So they are now looking for a city that can provide them with the required setting. Gwalior and Jaipur seem to be the frontrunners," said a source.
Finally which city gets the chance of hosting the big event, remains to be seen.

Big B instructs Ash to dress decent!
Come rain or cold, career for Aishwarya Rai is going great guns. The lady is getting lots of offers from Hollywood despite her engagement with Abhishek Bachchan. One of the few Bollywood stars who is recognised in Hollywood, all know that Aishwarya has a bright future.

However, it remains to be seen how far the lady will go now that she is going to be Bachchans' bahu soon! Apparently, Big B has passed some strict orders to his to-be daughter-in-law about her attire in her future movies. He has also made it clear to Ash that she should not 'expose' in any of her forthcoming films.

It must be remembered here that the Bachchan's were extremely upset with Aishwarya over the kiss with Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 2. Amitabh at that time was so outraged that he had instructed Aishwarya never to wear such skimpy outfits in future so as to maintain the dignity of the family!

Well, then one wonders how Aishwarya will tolerate such restrictions, considering that she is getting such 'irresistible' offers!
