Lovely post. Agree with all of you. I also found out about BKK thank to samridhi.đ
I know some people who dropped it after a while because they could not stand Myra being rude to Kabir all the time. Also Rhea's character was a turn off for them. I guess people can't take flawed or rude female characters though chauvinist male leads are fine.
Another is BKK requires some patience because it is not dramatic or fast paced where it moves from one track to another. There is no one track. All the characters have different issues all going on at one time. This is probably something people are not used to.
I find that really strange, because I don't find Myra extraordinarily rude to Kabir. She is just the right degree of rude as any regular person would be to someone who they didn't trust entirely and who they thought was pestering them. I think in India in a lot of work cultures girls have to develop that sort of assertiveness otherwise a lot of people take them for granted or walk all over them. To give another such example, Piku is quite rude but I like her because a girl who looks like that and lives in Delhi learns to develop that crusty outer layer with most people.
As for Rhea, again while she has her selfish moments, she also has her loving and sweet moments, and is in that sense pretty normal as a character. You're right that people watch any sort of chauvinistic or abusive behaviour from male leads in the name of love but do not forgive any female character for having a mind of their own.
