Bobby Darling out of 'Bigg Boss'

Mumbai, Nov 10 (IANS) Bobby Darling has been voted out of Sony's new reality show 'Bigg Boss', leaving her fellow contestants grieved.

'Bobby showed amazing restraint. Considering she had made it clear that this was her big chance to get the money for her sex operation, Bobby handled her elimination with great maturity. All the others were very unhappy to see her go,' a Sony official told IANS.

'Bigg Boss', which went on air Nov 3, is a reality show with 13 celebrities living together in a house for three months. Every week, one person who is unable to adjust is voted out.

Bobby had the time of her life in the show as she went through a mock-marriage with actor Aryan Vaid on the sets of 'Bigg Boss'.

And though earlier some other contestants like Bhojpuri superstar Ravi Kishan hinted broadly at how Bobby's gender-threatened presence was causing some discomfort, there was a general sense of disbelief when she was voted out and asked to leave 'Bigg Boss'.

In fact, Ravi read Bobby's plan and prophesied that she'd finally be reconciled with her estranged father.

TV artist Rupali Ganguly, easily the most emotional of the bunch, howled in grief when Bobby's elimination was announced. Models Carol Gracias and Anupama Verma also wept openly.

But Bobby remained surprisingly calm after the announcement. She quietly walked up to the puja enclave and communicated with Lord Ganapati and began packing her bags.

When a supermodel known for her poise on the ramp, breaks into a full throated song and jig in a commercial, it's bound to make people sit up and notice. Which is the case with Carol Gracias. Walking the runways for the last seven years, this Look of the Year Winner is looking seriously to find space in commercials and print campaigns. "It's something I've never had the time and energy to run around. Which is why I signed up with Elite's Modelling Agency." Carol who hasn't had ramp jitters in a few moons, does admit to being nervous whilst auditioning for the Nokia advert. "Not because I am a bad singer… but I had to mime the song and we couldn't figure the words and acting it out wasn't easy!" There are more campaigns and print commercials in the pipeline. For now, watching her own advert on TV does give this clotheshorse quite a thrill, but like she says sassily, "At the end of the day, it's a bigger pay check." Indulging her wanderlust by travelling across the globe, Gracias is also happiest hanging in jeans and tee with college friends at Club 9 or Zenzi in suburban Mumbai. And yes, she's dating someone but won't say more. "That's personal." What she will say, is that if a man's got to catch her eye, it will be because of his "bloody good sense of humour." Given her throaty chuckle, we do understand why.

Salil ousted; Replacement not yet found!

The much speculated exit of Salil Ankola from Sony's Bigg Boss ends here! The actor has already been evicted from the show on Thursday night. This will be telecasted next week.

Sony entertainment was shocked to hear of Salil Ankola's prior commitments and contractual obligations from media reports. On confirmation that these news reports were true and that the court had restrained Salil Ankola from appearing on any television show other than the one he is under contract for, the channel took necessary steps as he was in violation of his contract with Sony Entertainment Television.

Salil will be replaced by a new contestant on the show. Sources say, "Well, we still haven't zeroed down on any celebrity, the hunt is still on!"

The format of the show is very clear. According to the format of the show, participants have to commit a clear 3 months of their time, free from any other obligations to enable them live in the Bigg Boss house. In light of this requirement all the contracted celebrities were required to assure Sony Entertainment Television that they were not committed otherwise during this period. Only on receiving such assurances, were they contracted to be a part of the Bigg Boss show.

Salil's exit will however not interrupt Deepak Parashar or Bobby Darlings eviction.

First eviction on Bigg Boss

Arshad opens up with yet another spearkling introduction

Let's rock and roll!

The first week is officially up and it's eviction time.

But before we tackle who is going out of the house, let's have a quick recap of what happened today in the Bigg Boss household!

The irrepressible Arshad Warsi opens up with yet another sparking introduction. He calls Bigg Boss the Baap of Indian soaps and thrills the live audience with his outrageous sense of humour.

Next… to the contestants who seem really tired and fed up with proceedings, particularly Ravi who is looking it seems for an opportunity to escape! He seems to get his wish, as Ravi Kissen is the first official nomination for the 2nd week to be booted out.

Anupama is looking gorgeous as she is putting make up on, and suddenly Shahid Kapur enters the fray. The Bollywood heartthrob is telling the contestants about his latest film and the contestants continue to parade drama sequences in front of their new guest.

We have to say that Anupama was very good in the acting classes and Bobby's performance in her sparklingly bright yellow t shirt was very enthusiastic. Surprisingly enough, Aryan Vaid's performance alongside Rupali was also good. He got a huge round of applause.

The contestants then reluctantly say goodbye to Shahid, but before he goes, he gives everyone a present, and the contestants are thrilled!

Next up is Ravi's interview by Bigg Boss; he apologises for his recent erratic behaviour and seems to have turned over a new leaf! Or has he? Is Ravi Kissen's brain working overtime?

Salil then discovers he has to pack his bags and leave the house immediately because of the contractual differences we reported yesterday. He gets plenty of hugs from the contestants and they wave him goodbye. They plead with him to stay, but he simply can't.

The contestants are then ordered by Bigg Boss to congregate in the living room and to turn the TV on! Arshad says hi on the TV and the contestants yell Hi back. He asks how they all are, and mischievously suggests they have all changed. He asks them what they thought of Shahid and Carol replies back in Hindi to the delight of the contestants.

Anupama is asked about Salil and she replies that she feels lost without Salil and prays that Salil returns back to the household. She is looking like a lost puppy!

Now onto the evictions! Arshad is playing with the live audience and entertaining them tenfold. He presents some interview from celebrities who they think should go, and suddenly the rather round face of Johnny Lever is presented on screen and he gives his opinion on who should stay and how should go!

The contestants huddle in the living room, anxious to see who will be evicted… nails are being bit, glances are being made to the two possible evictees and yet still the wait continues.

He has a card in his hands, the card that holds the fate of Deepak and Bobby!

He then asks Deepak how he feels, and Deepak says destiny will take him out of the house, he also asks Bobby, and Bobby says, she is a real person inside, and she cant understand why people dislike her, she also says she was shocked to be nominated in the first place!

Arshad then reads out the name on the card…

BOBBY DARLING IT IS!

Rupali bursts into tears. Deepak cannot believe his eyes. The contestants are stunned.

Bobby has 5 mins to pack her bags and all contestants escort her to the door.

Bobby then leaves the household…

She is seen walking down a long path and into the Bigg Boss studio with Arshad Warsi. She greets her family with emotion and the audience give her a standing ovation. She is extremely tearful and the audience keep clapping. She embraces Arshad Warsi and sits down on the couch opposite him.

Arshad asks her about the 24 hour surveillance. She says, it takes getting used to, but soon you forgot the camera is there.

What about her getting voted out so early? I was shocked, she says, why did they nominate me, I was really hurt, I thought I was cool and funny and I never thought I would be booted out in the first week. 75% of the population won't accept me, but what can I do.

And that's it

We now have 11 contestants left will all to play for…

Arshad's game plan

Arshad Warsi talks about the new mobile game launched in his name, and why he is happy hosting Bigg Boss

Ram Kamal Mukherjee

Arshad Warsi is on a roll. The actor is not only busy hosting Sony Television's much talked-about reality show Bigg Boss but is also launching his own Fight Club.

No Arshad is not quitting as an actor but is excited about Spiel Studios who has signed Arshad for developing a series of mobile games with him as the central character. The games will be developed and distributed in his name. "Two young men Mohit Surekha and Priyesh came to me because they wanted to launch this mobile game. I thought of helping them and agreed to be part of their game," says Arshad.

The soon to be launched game is called Arshad's Fight Club where Arshad will be seen fighting all the Bollywood baddies. "Yeah… I will be fighting with Gabbar, Mogambo, Shakal, Dr Dang and many other villains from Bollywood. I am a complete gizmo freak, so I am glad to do this," he adds.

Incidentally, the idea came to Mohit's mind because Arshad has a strong mass appeal and the common man can relate to him. The game will also feature some of Arshad's signature phrases like 'Mamu' and 'Bole toh' from Munnabhai.

Arshad's contract with Sony Television for Bigg Boss lasts till January 2007. He travels to Karjat every Friday and shoots one episode. "Frankly speaking I agreed to be part of Bigg Boss because I wanted to stay in Mumbai and spend time with my son Zeke. I needed a reason which could hold me back in Mumbai as I would have been traveling all through the year if I wouldn't have taken up this assignment. In case it's very important I go to Karjat from Monday to Wednesday but make it a point to be back in Mumbai by Thursday. Then I sit at the monitor to find out what the celebrities have done over the week. It's not an easy task," he says.

Incidentally, Zeke who was not used to having Arshad around earlier is more than happy to be with him. Even Arshad's wife Maria is happy with his decision. Arshad said, "Earlier Zeke was least bothered about me, but now he sees me often and he waits for me to come back home. I want to be with him for sometime. Till January no one can move me from Mumbai." Arshad is also enjoying the feedback he is getting from Bigg Boss. "I never imagined that it would become such a big show. Everyone from radio stations to electronic channels are talking about the show," he added.

But Arshad is still serious about his career in films. "I am waiting for the release of Kabul Express and I have signed a rocking film with Anil Kapoor. I am very passionate about my acting and I would never quit films, unless films quit me," he laughed.

'One door closes, another one opens'

MAIN TO CHALI: Bobby Darling
Bobby Darling, who was ousted from Bigg Boss's house last night, is blaming Sony's voting procedure for his exit.

"The reverse voting is unfair," laments the actor. "All reality shows have the audience voting for the contestant they want to continue seeing on the show. That is the general perception of the viewers, so everyone voted for me. They thought that by doing so they would ensure that I remain in the show. On the contrary, it turned out to be a negative vote! I know people out there love me."

Bobby had prayed extremely hard to remain in Bigg Boss. "I have full faith in Vishnu and Mahalaxmi. I fast every Thursday. Anyway, that was God's will. Bigg Boss has slammed its door at me, but hopefully another one will open. If I had made it through this round, I would've survived for a month at least."

In her characteristic style, Bobby says, "As soon as I was told by Bigg Boss that I was the contestant to leave, main apni jawaani lapet ke bahar aa gayi."

Who did it?
The first thing that Bobby did on being out was to find out the names of the contestants who had voted for his exit. "Now I really know who is who."
Secondly, he caught up with this week's release, Apna Sapna Money Money. I have quite a substantial role in it. Like director Sangeeth Sivan's earlier film, Kya Kool Hai Hum, there's a lot for me to do. People won't see me in Bigg Boss, but they can now see me in the film now. This is what I meant, one door closing and another one opening."

Bobby also regrets being outgoing on the reality show. "That is me, but I should have been diplomatic like the rest of the people on the show. I wish I had realised this on day one and kept to myself. The co-contestants mistook my friendliness for being over-bearing. But I was only being nice to them; they misunderstood me."

Fav guy
Though she has lots to say about her female co-contestants who voted her out (see box), from among the male contestants she singles out Salil Ankola as her favourite. "I love Salil."

She also finds Rahul (Roy) "extremely cute" and Aryan (Vaid) very nice."
Bobby had hoped that this show would help garner the huge amount necessary for her sex change operation. "I really needed the money. I am disillusioned, but never mind, the opportunity will arise again."

Farah roots for Deepak Parasher

you can do it, deepak! Farah Khan

Farah Khan loves Bigg Boss. "The show is rocking! Currently, I'm choreographing a number for Sajid's (Khan) Hey Baby!, but I make sure that we finish the shoot by 9 pm so that I can go home and catch the show at 10." Farah says she'll be very disappointed if Deepak Parasher is voted out. "There is a method to his madness and people should understand why he acts the way he does. The best thing about him is that nightgown! I think he should wear it everywhere. It'll become a huge fashion fad!"
Well Deepak, there's at least one fan that'll have voted for you last night!

Lock kar diya jaaye!
By: Pragyan Mohanty

Reality shows never looked so spicy, spunky and catty. Indeed, Bigg Boss has turned voyeurism into a full-fledged activity. The drama, the grandeur and the ambience would have been a different story altogether if the inhabitants of the house had been 13 Bolly biggies. Take a look at our big pick.

Decoding 'The' Mallika Sherawat

What a better way to demystify our self-proclaimed Greta Garbo!

The very idea of our Madame M sharing the same roof with 'lesser mortals', hotting up the scene with her high handedness, loud statements and over-the-top dressing will be a treat to see.

Indeed, stars' envy, voyeurs' pride!

Bipasha Basu's noticing act

With Mallika around, can Bipasha be far away? She will happily come on board if only to know more about Madame M. It would the proverbial case of 'Usmein aisa kya hai jo mujh mein nahin?' Sharing the same room, loo and breaking bread with her:

what better way of getting to know the enemy? We know we're being wicked, but we've been aching for a catfight for a loooong time! John, are you listening?

Ram Gopal Varma: Doors closed

The sole reason for locking him up is to stop him from announcing any more films. After bombarding us with James, Darna Zaroori Hai, Darwaza Bandh Rakho and Shiva, we think it is only in the interest of the public to lock Ramu up for three months.

However, we have a gut feeling that the day he comes out, he'll announce a film based on his experiences!

The advantage of being Himesh Reshammiya

Come on, he is the biggest star! Singer, actor, music director, and producer —he can be anything you want him to be. So there are no second thoughts about having him on the show.

Having Himesh has two more advantages. Bigg Boss won't have to play his record to wake the contestants up, that job can conveniently done by Himesh. Furthermore, Reshammiya doesn't need to shave and bathe… he wears the same jacket and cap all the time. So bathroom se ek aadmi kam!

Who will boss Salman Khan?

Can life be complete without the quintessential bad boy of Bollywood? Rules aren't meant for him, as he's the baap of all Big Bosses.

His wish is a command, so our curiosity has gone into overdrive at the thought of seeing Sallu dancing to someone else's tunes. Will Bigg Boss be able to bell this cat?

Kareena Kapoor's killer claws

With Mallika, Bipasha and Amisha in the house, having Kareena becomes mandatory. T

he Kapoor girl completes the fourth corner of the house.

Considering she has no films in hand, what a better way to kill time than sharpen her killer claws on catty colleagues?

Viveik Oberoi ko bachao

As phones aren't allowed, the audience will be more than excited to see Salman warning Viveik face-to-face.

Poor guy, he can't even call for a press conference.

Now, who will save Oberoi from Sallu's wrath?

Amisha Patel in lock-up

It's unlikely that there's a person in B-Town with whom the Patel girl hasn't locked horns.

So how about locking her up in the same house with them? Considering Amisha is 'Ms Know-It-All', the members in the house won't have problems regarding finance, at least. Remember, Ms Patel is a gold medallist in Economics?

Karan Johar's nursery rhyme

Why? Haven't you heard the nursery rhyme 'Mary had a little lamb'? That answers the question.

Karan is where SRK is. Moreover, the duo will get ample of free time to mull over their new K-bomb.

Nana Patekar's eccentricities

On one hand, there are people with starry airs and on the other side is the ever disciplined, peculiar stickler Nana Patekar.

Watch the clash of ideas, principles and philosophy.

Shah Rukh Khan: Rehab camp

Who wouldn't want to see every slice from King Khan's life? Having him onboard will be pure delight.

How does the superstar react to the flurry of stars, cameras and 24/7 surveillance? Will he be able to live the difficult life minus his mobiles and hi-fi gizmos and his lifeline — his smokes?

If nothing else, one should put the actor here to get rid of his chain smoker tag.

Rekha minus greasepaint

The mother hen of the house (She will hate us for calling her mother).

Just imagine having the diva minus make-up, kanjeevarams and jhumkas — scrubbing, cleaning and fighting.

Oh, what a joy to see the perfect Madame Re as a normal human being.

Sophie Choudhry: Fun factor
Unarguably, the funniest and cheesiest character in the entire house.

She fills in the gap for Rakhi Sawant, if only in a more 'sophi'sticated fashion.

'Bigg Boss' shows Ankola the door
DNA
Friday, November 10, 2006 19:22 IST

Not ready to take the heat after the court upheld Balaji's contention that cricketer-turned-actor Salil Ankola had violated his contract with them, Sony TV has evicted him from sets of 'Bigg Boss'.

A statement issued by the channel said, "We were shocked to hear of Salil Ankola's prior commitments and contractual obligations from media reports.

On confirmation that these news reports were true and that the court had restrained Salil Ankola from appearing on any television show other than the one he is under contract for, the channel took necessary steps as he was in violation of his contract with Sony Entertainment Television. Salil has therefore been evicted from the 'Bigg Boss' house."
