I don't care how Bagladesh treats us or how Pakistan treats us.. All I know as A PROUD INDIAN is that I will treat them with all respect and equality...

1. I'm not saying that others engaging in racist behavior gives us a free pass to engage in racism.

2. I'm saying that this is NOT a case of racism/discrimination but pure bullying.

3. Foreigner being bullied in India is not necessarily racially/ethnically motivated. I have been in that position and not once do I think it was racism.

4. There is NO evidence or hint that there was ANY discrimination against Asif solely because on his nationality. People are making this up.

4. There is a lot of real racism that happens within India (like how Kashmiris, NE Indians, Africans, Nepalis are treated) , we don't have to cook up some bullshit over what happened in a third rate reality show where vulgar behavior is common to prove that there is racism in India. Doing this trivializes real racism that goes on in India.

I rest my case.

As to why the inmates should care about a Bangladeshi getting respect, it is very every foreigner is a guest to be shown respect. Bangladeshis have had high achievements, I can acknowledge that as an American, so why all this superiority complex over Asif? That was the question.

Even though I hate the inmates for bullying Asif, then didnt do because he was a Bangladeshi. They had a language barrier with him and they had already formed groups.

We all are the same race ultimately,,, .. What is the diffence between a Bagladeshi's and Indian other than their nationality...?? We even look alike.. You can't tell the difference between a Bangladeshi and an Indian if they stand side by side...

Dude, who's denying all of that ?

My whole problem stems from portraying this incident as racism/discrimination when it is CLEARLY NOT ! It is a case of PURE BULLYING. That is it !

Why is OP giving this incident a india vs bangladesh / how india discriminates against 'lesser countries' flavor ? Why is he/she bringing nationalities into this if this whole issue has nothing to do with nationalities of the bullies and the bullied ? Is there any proof that asif was discriminated against and isolated because of his nationality ? THERE IS NONE ! Some people are just making unfounded claims based on assumptions and their own personal biases. I'm just calling out the bullshit here because I'm frankly getting sick of this "racism" allegation with regards to this incident.

You should ask OP why he/she is invoking nationalities into his/her arguments, not me.

G'night !

That mere attitude slows down any type of progress in India... Just because other people or countries or industries do it, doesn't particularly make it right... If its wrong, it's wrong... Instead of saying "this country also says this or that country also does this" , why don't we better our India...??

I don't care how Bagladesh treats us or how Pakistan treats us.. All I know as A PROUD INDIAN is that I will treat them with all respect and equality...

For example, America and Canada are neighboring countries.. Candians get mad when we're called Americans and Vice Versa, but whenever there is a problem, America is the first country to help us out and treat us well and vice versa... I'm a proud Canadaian and VERY PROUD Indian but when I see shit people do in MY COUNTRY, obviously I will say it and point it out because I want it to improve it and be known as a good, caring and peaceful country... I'm not Bangladeshi so what they do to us is merely their business(but they don't do much to be honest...) and not my problem but I certainly want my country to be looked at as respectful and not the way the Bigg Boss inmates portrayed...

And this isn't a country war... This is a question that has been raised before as well and it is bound to arise because Asif getting bullied for his language barrier and being different was very apparent... I'm sure the viewers of Bangladesh who tuned in just to support Asif weren't happy with the treatment he got,, The fact is he was treated badly... And instead of trying to be ashamed of such Indians like Armaan, Andy, Gauhar, Kushal, etc, people are justifying it by saying other countries do this and that...

but he didnt get bad treatment because he was a foreigner!!!! why is this being mad e a country issue when its clearly nowhere near anythng related to his nationality.

Did I say anything about racism?? I don't reckon so... I said he got bullied in that house and as Indians we should accept that... This will ultimately become a discussion of nationality because some Bengali's are upset with the way Asif was treated... I'm not saying he was treated that way for his nationality at all but if you look at the picture as a whole, nationality will come in between because he was bullied in an Indian Reality Show as a Bangladeshi... It's a topic that will come up... And he got bullied for his language barrier which was apparent and an indirect case of mocking for Bengali's as many d them don't know Hindi well... I have Bengali friends and they were disappointed... Yeah a lot of racism goes on in India which I agree to but for, I don't believe this was a case of racism at all...

It also has something to do with the things that he said initially to some people that did not sit down very well with them.

Vivek, Manoj Tiwari, KRK, Pooja Misra were also bullied badly. Should I start calling it discrimination against people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar ?? I would have more of a case since there is a recurring pattern.

Bigg boss house mates are not representative of all Indians and you do realize that he has been aided by INDIANS to get to where he is today ?? If Indians were not accepting and welcoming, he wouldn't be living in mumbai with a business that is located in Kolkota and Mumbai.

And as far as the contestants laughing at his accent, let me tell you it happens with everyone. Indians make fun of each others hindi accent all the time. I'm a Bihari, our accent is the butt of all jokes in India. It is not done out of racist intent, but for pure fun.

As far as Indians looking down on people from non anglo countries, why is Veena Malik so successful in India then ?

And yeah, Americans do laugh at the Indian accent, do you even watch your own television ? There are countless videos on youtube with prank calls to Indian restaurants and 711s with retarded parodies of Indian accent. I have been bullied, made fun of my accent and isolated badly at many work places in America. It happens everywhere and I'm pretty sure if I went to Bangladesh and spoke in a broken bangla accent, people would laugh at me too.

Was it justified how they treated Asif ? Hell No !! But stop trying to paint all Indians and Bollywood/TV industry in a negative light.

Well said, Closed. The last thing I wanted as fights with people here. I hate it when people ruin posts with fights because then any TM as to keep justifying that what they meant was different. I never said anything against all Indians and repeatedly clarified. I am not Bangladeshi or Indian or Pakistani, what affected me so deeply was the mistreatment of another human being and how they were all dismissing him whenever he attempted to talk, even the host! I don't even know the guy, but I have been a fan of Indian media all my life. So yes, when they do something wrong, I will point it out as a viewer. What Salman did was also irrationally immature behavior. Nothing new there, and I say that as someone who likes Salman a lot for his humanitarian work.

When SRK visited Bangladesh, I went and YouTubed it only because he went. A Bangladeshi got over excited and misbehaved a little. All the audience there reacted angrily and guards pulled him off the stage. He was also severely reprimanded by the public (publicly) for his misbehavior later by the Bangladeshis. The whole talk was "how dare he misbehave with a guest like SRK?"

Yes, every country does have idiots. It's about how we tackle those idiots that matters. If we go on defending our idiots just to save face, it looks rather inappropriate and defensive. A reality show is supposed to be idiocy to an extent, but there is a line even they should not cross. If the Kartrashians mistreated a foreign minority, there will be reprimands from the channel. That's the whole point.

P.S. Silverbug. Bengali is a language, Bangladeshi is not. While Bengali can be used to designate Tagore who was born in Calcutta, Bangladeshi is the correct term for the people of Bangladesh. So, I was not using the terms interchangeably. You got confused because I was also talking about the language at the same time. Bengalis and Bangladeshis both speak Bengali/Bangla.

Also, it does not matter how many incidents of anti-Indian rhetoric you can find. That is outside the scope of this forum, show and my topic! This show is Indian, so the Indian part came up. This is the occasion to air frustration against all other injustices against India. As I said, it is not a nationalist post, it is a reprimand against inmates in the Bigg Boss house and how they are reflecting a small, but bad thread of Bollywood.

I'm not saying its because of his nationality.. But it was partially because of his language... And if you look at the picture as a whole, since he is from Bangladesh, they will obvious feel bad that someone from their country got bullied... I'm just saying from that point of view... No matter what, he is a guest to our country and got treated badly for x, y, z reasons by Indians for his language... So obviously the question will arise... I'm just saying, it made a negative image in the minds of many people for our country... Have you heard, "Mehmaan baghwaan jaisa hota hai".. He is our mehmaan and for whatever reasons he got bullied, he still didn't get treated right...
