If you bothered to quote and respond in a way where your writing could be easily read, that would be helpful for all of us. In your comments about other countries here and in the way you are making it about other countries clearly hint that you did not read my post well. I am clearly talking to a nationalist who is offended because I pointed out a wrong. God forbid I say anything against your beloved Bollywood.

Oh please I'm not a nationalist (not that there would be anything wrong with that) nor do I care for Bollywood much. My problem is with the hypocrisy and one sided criticism of Indians and India that happens day in and day out on this forum.

I could point out thousands of instances of real, vile anti indian racism on Pakistani/Bangladeshi channels as well. Would it be justifiable for me to make a post like you have made and say things like "This makes me feel embarrassed for Pakistanis/Bangladeshis" or this represents "Pakistan/Bangladesh in a bad light" . If I do that, then people like you will come out and start calling me a 'nationalist' and 'prejudiced' because I have seen these trends over and over again on this forum. I don't do it because it's retarded to hold a country's people responsible or address them directly over something that they had no control over. I wouldn't and don't expect them to be guilt ridden and apologetic over it.

Ya, welcome the real world. Prejudice happens in Hollywood too, but it's not okay just because it happens here. If Hollywood jumps off a bridge, would you think that's a smart move for everyone? I am not going to even go down to the level of discussing how Hollywood belongs to "Jews." Clearly I am talking to the wrong person about prejudice. Hollywood has the task of representing numerous races from numerous counties. Let's not forget Ben Kingsley too. He turned out pretty ok. This is not a post that defends Hollywood. When Hollywood is in the wrong, I write it too, as I did for Shipa. But I will also call out Salman when the Indian industry gets it wrong through non-entities like Armaan and Andy.

umm you were trying to portray Hollywood as open minded, kinder and some paradise which its clearly not. There was a very clear sneering tone in your post.

You think I'm prejudiced for saying that White Jews and Anglos are dominate in Hollywood ? That is a fact and Hollywood will acknowledge it too, too bad if it doesn't fit your politically correct world view.
Funny how you accuse me of being prejudiced and nationalist when you yourself exhibit a superiority complex that West/Hollywood etc has some sort of moral high ground (kinder, more open, progressive blah blah).

Ben Kingsley is half white. He is more anglo than he is indian anyway. The fact that he had to adopt an anglo sounding name says a lot doesn't it ?

I agree that just because Hollywood is prejudiced it doesn't mean Bollywood should get a free pass but the point is that Hollywood has no moral high ground (like you were making it seem like it does) to call out Bollywood on it's racism. Glass houses. Stones. You know the routine.

As to why I highlighted Bangladeshi achievements...

The ignorant inmates of Bigg Boss clearly don't have the knowledge. They needed to know.Tagore was born into a per-partition India, so you can claim him, is that what you are saying? So be it if it soothes you. Did you notice that I called him BENGALI rather than BANGLADESHI? Know the difference? I knew this little fact. When I mentioned him, I wanted to show how he was the source of both country's anthem. There's a mutual history there, it should inspire brotherly love, not a superiority complex from Bigg Boss inmates and the like.

No, I don't really care about Tagore's nationality nor does it soothe me in any way to own him considering the things I know about him. I just thought I would point that out because you were using Bengali and Bangladeshi almost interchangeably.I would find it soothing if I could own some one like Muhammed Yunus who is a noble laureate from Bangladesh.

Why should BB inmates care about all of this is beyond me. It is questionable that most inmates even know he's from Bangladesh because when he entered he said he's from Bengal. You, just like the other bashers on this forum before, are trying too hard to portray this incident of bullying as racially motivated/anti Bangladeshi when there is no evidence of the same. Bullying happens in every season of BB in case you don't know, just because it happened to a foreigner this time it doesn't mean it qualifies as racism. The onus is on you to prove that it is racism. No racial epithet, derogatory references to Bangladesh or anything bad about Bengalis in general was said. This allegation that he was made fun of and bullied because he is from Bangladesh is based on assumption and speculation. Nothing more.

OP is the only one who is trying to create an India vs Bangladesh issue out of nothing. I don't know why he's all 'Indians this Indians that' .

There was no hint of India vs Bangladesh problem on the show so these people are just cooking up stories. They repeat the same thing over and over on this forum and other social media sites until it start sounding true to those who don't think much and the result is guilt tripped posts like "I'm ashamed to be an Indian" and "I apologize on behalf of all Indians".

Bullying and making fun of accents happens in every season, even to Indians (Zulfi Sayed, Pooja, Imam etc etc). Get over it. If it hurts your sensibilities so much then don't watch this trashy show because it has never been known for being politically correct over ANY ISSUE. And just to clarify, I wasn't angry over what went down with Shilpa either because that was over dramatized and Shilpa is herself a drama queen who was trying to gain some mileage.

It may be for people who have comprehension issues. Otherwise, it is not. As to why the inmates should care about a Bangladeshi getting respect, it is very every foreigner is a guest to be shown respect. Bangladeshis have had high achievements, I can acknowledge that as an American, so why all this superiority complex over Asif? That was the question.

good post.

i agree asif was treated badly and i felt for him.
but i dont think it was because he wasnt indian. i wouldnt believe it even for a minute.
he was ridiculed and bullied because of his personality of not standing up for himself and not speaking clearly. its not about hindi or bengali.
in delhi, there r so many people from diff places in india, and believe me everyone speaks hindi in an extremely different way and people make fun of their speaking all the time. thats being racist? no its not,

i dont believe that the contestants on the show ever made fun of him because he's a bangladeshi. people r just being offended for no reason.

yes he was bullied a lot which was very very wrong but not because of his origin.

vivek was also bullied and had he stayed longer, i'm sure it would have been worse for him than even asif. now what kindof racism is that?

these allegations of racism are absolutely wrong.

It was not an allegation of racism against Asif because they are from the same race. It was an allegation of ignorance, bullying and finally preference treatment. There is a whole world of difference. The racism part is in giving preference to Pamela and the like.

I don't understand why people are getting personal and being offended... TM mentioned right in the beginning of the post that she isn't generalizing all Indians..
Secondly, I hate the attitude of people going like , "Oh, but they did this too, that country is like that too, that country did this and that, so what if we do it?" .. That mere attitude slows down any type of progress in India... Just because other people or countries or industries do it, doesn't particularly make it right... If its wrong, it's wrong... Instead of saying "this country also says this or that country also does this" , why don't we better our India...??

I don't care which country does it, what happened or whatever., the bottom line is, Asif as a foreigner from a neighboring country got bullied and treated badly in OUR COUNTRY..Instead of trying to argue that it happens in all countries, why can't we take a stand against the wrong and fix it... I don't care how Bagladesh treats us or how Pakistan treats us.. All I know as A PROUD INDIAN is that I will treat them with all respect and equality...

For example, America and Canada are neighboring countries.. Candians get mad when we're called Americans and Vice Versa, but whenever there is a problem, America is the first country to help us out and treat us well and vice versa... I'm a proud Canadaian and VERY PROUD Indian but when I see shit people do in MY COUNTRY, obviously I will say it and point it out because I want it to improve it and be known as a good, caring and peaceful country... I'm not Bangladeshi so what they do to us is merely their business(but they don't do much to be honest...) and not my problem but I certainly want my country to be looked at as respectful and not the way the Bigg Boss inmates portrayed...

And this isn't a country war... This is a question that has been raised before as well and it is bound to arise because Asif getting bullied for his language barrier and being different was very apparent... I'm sure the viewers of Bangladesh who tuned in just to support Asif weren't happy with the treatment he got,, The fact is he was treated badly... And instead of trying to be ashamed of such Indians like Armaan, Andy, Gauhar, Kushal, etc, people are justifying it by saying other countries do this and that...

Just go and do word count of the number of times you have mentioned "Indians, Bengalis, Bangladesh" in your OP. If this wasn't an (underhanded albeit) allegation of racism/discrimination then you wouldn't have brought nationality into it and criticized the housemates behavior solely on what they have actually done - bullying.

Sorry to interrupt but how the hell is saying "Indians, Bagladeshi's, Begali" racist.??? Aren't we all the same skin color and basically root from the exact same place... We all are the same race ultimately,,, .. What is the diffence between a Bangladeshi and an Indian other than their nationality...?? We even look alike.. You can't tell the difference between a Bangladeshi and an Indian if they stand side by side...
