Akshay Kumar's Airlift has impressed audience while Kya Kool Hain Hum has been trashed bty them.Sex doesn't always sell. Ekta Kapoor's po*n-com Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 has failed to entice viewers despite being loaded with adult content. The big surprise was when the film which is tailor-made for single screen audiences received a big thumbs down from viewers at the popular Gaiety Galaxy in Bandra. A few viewers, who we spoke to, were disgusted with the storyline and jokes cracked in the movie. Many felt there was nothing new in the storyline and the double entendres too lacked enough charm to elicit laughter. (Read review of Airlift)
It's Akshay Kumar's Airlift that has managed to impress audience. People we spoke to a Gaiety Galaxy sounded ecstatic about the movie, the plot, the patriotic element and above all Akshay Kumar's performance. Viewers came out of the theatre smiling and clapping thoroughly satisfied with the real life event showcased in the film. (Read review of Kya Kool Hain Hum 3)
For the moment, it seems Akshay Kumar and Airlift has taken off smoothly while Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 has failed to excite audience. Warning bells should ring in advance for Sunny Leone and Mastizaade.
Kyaa Kool has opened well in mass centres with a opening of 30-35% despite competition from a big film like Airlift. The film is running neck to neck with the Airlift in mass centres in practically all the circuits. The opening in the big multiplexes of North india is less as a star makes a big difference there and Akshay Kumar has a strong market in the North. As there is huge preference of these multiplexes in North the big gap in collections of both films may come here.
The film will do its best business in Mumbai and CPCI circuits. The last film of this brand Kyaa Super Kool Hain hum had recorded a 6.75 crore nett day one and despite it not being a solo release with a bigger film for competition, the opening numbers suggest it should surpass that film.
It is the opposite of Airlift for Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 as its more about holding the collections rather than growing to pull through. Growth would be a big plus though but it is tough with genre as families on the weekend tend to keep away from these type of films.
