She's quite popular in the TV industry... way more popular then the contestants in the show currently lol I'd say she's one of the top leading ladies?? one of them..

She plays Ganga (kinda like a parallel female lead) on Balika Vadhu - which is a soap on Colors - same channel as Bigg Boss. She has also previously hosted some reality show (that I don't remember) and she was a contestant (along with her husband) on one of the dance shows.

I agree that the Colors folk are trying to utilize her talents. Probably will make her a host for a future program. Maybe they are thinking long term and thinking of even replacing or substituting for Salman (I read somewhere that it's his sister's wedding sometime in November... so he might not be available for doing a weekend hosting).

She is there in Torture show of colors. Which is running from 6-7 years :/
