Thankyou for this post! I have been feeling the exact same way ever since I watched the episode and then read the backlash and shaming of Nikki! If you think Nikki hiding the mask in her pants was not fair, was Rahul manhandling her in the name of a task very fair? If anything Bigg Boss and Colors should be called out for this kind of task which encourages men and women to go at each other physically. If you want physical fighting then make it same sex competition like Sultani Akhada was. And hiding objects inside your clothes has been happening for seasons after seasons. In this same season, in the garden task the slabs were hidden by women inside their T- shirts. I didnt see the same outrage or name calling then. Chest region is also a private area for women ,so how come that is okay but pants area is only selectively "eww', cheap, yucky etc? Even in the ball and basket task, contestants were running around hiding balls inside their clothes. I dont understand why a male can forever get leeway to get physical with a girl in tasks but if the girl does what she thinks would help her win against the guy she is called cheap, indecent among 100 other adjectives. This IS internalized misogyny at it's best, and it is on full display on every social platform at the moment which is both sad and shameful as lot of people dont see it or even try to understand it because of cultural norms or just the general way people think in our society. I also think it was very low of Naina to drag Nikki's mother into this. Why drag her parents or family's 'izzath' into this when they are not involved in the game?

I was just referring to this in my post too. In this very season, contestants have hidden props inside their garments. Some of the guys too did it in the ball collection task. It has been allowed by Bigg Boss all along, so why not ask the channel and producers why this has been allowed from the start instead of shaming and targeting this one participant?

I agree, Nikki was right and Rahul was wrong. Everything is fair in war and love. Now, come to the point, what option was left for Rahul? Yes, he could have extend his hand into Nikki's under garment and snatched the mask from her curves. Because, everything is fair in Bigg Boss house. But Rahul cannot go so low to witn the game.

By the way, the bout should have been cancelled as it was not started prooerly as nobody could see the mask on the table. It was grabbed by Nikki before the game started. You cannot start to play football or hockey untill and unless the ball is placed in the center point.

What Nikki did was an extremely smart tactic. It’s about survival, and all is fair.

I do not like Nikki one bit, and would be happiest to see her go, but she’s playing well.

She’s got her chamchas to not vote against her, and now she used her ‘feminity’ (for lack of a better word) to save herself.

Well said. 👏

Nikki’s act of hiding the mask in her pants (crotch area) was INTENDED to make the *male* opponent not only weak, BUT TOTALLY HELPLESS!

You expected an INDIAN MAN on INDIAN NATIONAL TELEVISION to pull away Nikki’s pants and stick his hand inside it to grab the mask? IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE??? Are you telling me that PHYSICAL STRENGTH is now comparable to ACTS OF IMMORALITY? Yes, Nikki’s act was immoral in all senses, just the way her intent was.

So the question is, if this was Nikki’s resort to beat physical strength a man possesses, what is the man’s response to it? Don’t forget that if the task was purely done through physical strength, Nikki wouldn’t have been HELPLESS!! She would have had used PS too, because she COULD!! Acts of physical strength do not equate to acts of immortality.

She should have been kicked out of the show for her audacity!

Since you actually bothered opening this thread and raising your POV, please tell me this: If BB is the Indian franchised version of the parent show Big Brother, why aren’t the show masters incorporating the nudity, consensual sex, and other acts that are regarded as adult content, on the Indian show? It is after all the format of the parent show and we are discussing freedom of expression here. Right?

WRONG!

Our society, no matter how modern and advanced, DOES NOT allow us to cross certain lines. We may be westernized or modernized in our lifestyles, but our thought process and CULTURAL VALUES bar us from indulging in certain acts. Yes, they may be acceptable or OK in other, more open or freer societies, but guess what, the Indian cultural and value system isn’t there yet, and there’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with that!

Nikki played unfairly and without any respect for her own cultural and social background! Her intent was clear!!!

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I agree with some aspects of your reasoning.

Answering your question why certain risqué elements associated with the Big Brother franchise has been omitted in Bigg Boss, its simple: because of the potential of censorship issues arising and public (especially political) outrage. End of the story.

Times are changing. Fast. Gauahar and Kushal were able to breathe life into a love story that unfolded entirely from cute flirty lines, hugs, and once in a while holding hands. Less than a decade later, we have seen couples sharing the bed, cuddling under the blankets, enter the bathrooms together, etc. Say what you will about our society, but the truth of repressed sexual content is evident across platforms. The OTT scene is changing the game in terms of abusive language, nudity, and sexually suggestive scenes, be it in the "class-shows" (Sacred Games; Mirzapur) or the "mass-shows" (Gandi Baat, etc.). TV will follow. They will go where the money is, but they just have to be slower and more careful because of traditional partners, sponsorships, and political/civic pressures. That's it. Bollywood movies, where bikini scenes and kissing shots used to be sensational news even 10 years ago, are now completely common and even seen as an uncreative crutch to use. (Hate Story, Sex Comedies, etc.) Trust me, the change is coming - Viacom18 is least interested in protecting what notions of 'cultural and social background' exists if there is money to be made on the other side.

As far as Nikki is concerned, I still stand by the fact that what she did was extremely embarassing and cringy. I was having a hard time even watching it. But the truth remains - if Rahul was forgiven (and even praised) for using his natural male strength advantage in the task, then Nikki should also be forgiven for using her social modesty strength advantage in the task. I hope this is a wake up call for BB to stop organizing tasks where men can use physical force against women, or smart women will continue to find ways to manipulate the one-sidedness on their behalf.

The biggest problem is she took the mask even before the announcenent began. How is that not talked about? Mask was not even on the center of the table. Its BS. She basically cheated to win and people apparently think she should be given props for pulling off a cheap stunt afterwards? laughable.

She shouldve been reprimanded for breaking the rules.

Yes ... yes ... BB should not allowed her to do so ....should have interfered and told her to keep it back.

Looks clearly BB is favouring her ...

He already has an advantage of force, how many more does he need? Let’s be fair.

more over, for anatomical reasons, Rahul doing that would be wrong. 😆

Thing is, nobody stopped Rahul to adopt any technique, Nikki was the smartest bcoz she did it & won the task. Now there’s no point discussing ifs/buts, I’m sure Rahul would have done even more if he was in Nikki’s position. There’s nothing fair or unfair in BB tasks unless it’s a violation of written rules. This was not a violation of rules.

these cry babies (contestants) make a big deal out of everything... Nikki is not shradul/naina to compromise and end up nominating herself. She is a competitive player and she is going to play hard to make sure she is safe and I think it's silly to wrong her for that. If we can support Rahul for using his strength advantage in the previous task it is right for Nikki to use whatever move gives her an edge.
