Nikki's move today and our internalized misogyny

I really hope everyone reading this will approach it with an open mind.

Lets be real. We all were raised in a patriarchal society and, no matter how progressive we like to believe we are, at the end of the day there are many conscious and unconscious forms of sexism in all of us. I am trying to (as much as I can) shed all of my own internalized misogyny and ask you all a simple question:

What was wrong with what Nikki did?

What else could she do?

Rahul was using his own natural advantage, which is his male muscle strength, against Nikki. I don't disagree with Rahul at all here, I even supported it during the Jasmine fight episode. At the end of the day, he is using what he has in his toolkit to ensure victory. Well, isn't what Nikki did the same? She countered Rahul's strength by taking advantage of the fact that Rahul cannot touch her inappropriately. So what? Why can Rahul use his biological advantage but she can't use her social advantage to win?

I ask all of you try to refrain from using words like "it was cheap" etc. which is highly subjective and comes from cultural conditioning and give me a solid reason of what is wrong with Nikki's move? How else could she win? Should she have given up the task and just started a tug of war which she would surely lose?

I actually agree with you. Niki is definitely one of my least favourite contestants on this season but I still don’t think what she did was wrong. I’m FAILING so hard to see it.

Rahul was going to use his physical power to snatch the mask & Niki couldn’t have won against his strength. She had NO option. It’s not like she flashed or anything, she used her brain and put it where Rahul would never go. Rahul could have done the same, but he chose not to.

What if Rahul had done the same? Uska to janaza nikaal diya hota. Thu thu ho jaati uski har jagah. Trust me Nikki is not even getting 1% of hate compared to what Rahul would've received if he had done the same. People like you are making a joke of feminism by supporting an act like that. It was downright CHEAP.

I agree. I did not find anything wrong in this.

And she chose to do it abruptly , it wasn't her intent , it was her instinct. You could see Rahul using all his muscle strength to snatch it from Nikki and then she used it to her advantage. I don't find it cheap.

Rahul was hurt & pissed which is understandable as well. And it's true if Rahul would have done it , he would have been bashed left and right.

But I don't find anything wrong in what she did. His first line of defence is his physical strength , Niki had to do something to win right ?

I just think she shouldn't have taken the mask away even before Rahul could reach the stage. That's it.

The rest , I don't see anyone at fault.

Rahul was on top of Niki, How is that allowed? It happened in spur of the moment, anyone would stop thinking there

Is he allowed to touch people like this?

He has advantage of strength so he can do anything and women don't even stand a chance in front of him, Didn't he cross a line with her?

I don't like her at all

Don't think she was wrong

Technically as per rules and gameshow ofcourse what she did is valid and that's why BB did not interfere.

But generally it is a verrrrrrrrrry cheap move. It was really embarssing, I was cringing the whole time being a woman myself. Did u see the faces of girls after task was completed ? The dead silence? She is smart but she just made her entry in the league of om swami and jagga.

I absolutely dislike Nikki this season, but what you said is completely true. And I understand why Nikki did this, you can't play fair in nomination task, you have to save yourself in order to stay in the game. She is young and did what she felt like would save her and it was a smart move on her part actually.

Its definitively cheap but not wrong. Both using their strength to survive the battle , depends source it strength.. rahul gt muscles and niki got the advantage where muscles are not useful thats all.

I like niki's game idk there is something abt her i cant dislike her but thats cheal stunt. Sorry!

Same logic.. your reaction would be as subtle if rahul did same?

There was this incident where Rahul lifted Nikki and placed her on his shoulder and touched her butt. He was way too inappropriate with her. It's a show. So, no one is saying anything to him but in reality, he would have been in jail for even teasing and molesting. Nikki has been way too kind to him.
