My view is that it was a harmless joke - I didn't find it derogatory, and I don't believe Sallu intended it as such. To me - Rubina pulled a well-timed sympathy stunt. And I don't buy the crap she's selling.
That said - I completely disagree that no one should speak up because it's "the Salman Khan". Yeah if someone unduly disrespects him, I'd call it out because he's not a contestant - he's a host. But he isn't a divine entity - insaan hi hain, and he can be called out too.
Paras called him out last year when he brought in Paras' personal life unnecessarily to bash him - and eventually had to backtrack because he hadn't done his homework. And I thought that was fine - and good on Paras too. He deserved bashing, but Sallu chose the wrong thing to bash him with - his outside life should be off limits.
Look - I agree that BB India is a different kettle of fish, and to a large extent it's hype and draw over the years has been Sallu and his hosting. There're many elements of his hosting that I absolutely hate - but I can accept, that he works as a host. And there are plenty of times that I've found him entertaining too (in earlier seasons though - when he actually was interested). That doesn't make his conduct on the show above reproach though. Not at all.
