I have serious issues with the way Pratap handled the Rann singh issue. 😡
I realize that it is highly unlikely for a King to storm an enemy tent to rescue one of his spies but still...I had more expectations when the King in question is Pratap. I did not expect him to take the treat Rann singh like a used piece of tissue paper. Just use and throw. True other soldiers in war do die but that is something unavoidable. In a situation where someone is captured and it is possible to save him, something should have been done for him.
The Rann singh part in the last two days was a bit overly dramatic. When he had the sword the first time itself he could have cut his own throat or wrists or put the sword in his stomach to end his misery. Instead, he chose to make this overly dramatic symbolic gesture of cutting off his tongue in the most painful way to remain quiet, yet still remaining alive. I think in that situation Rann singh should have taken his own life in the first instance itself.
While the symbolism is deeply appreciated that he will not speak the secret he was entrusted with 👏👏👏 ...still the realisticness of that seen is a little under question, as to whether someone in that situation instead of ending their misery by killing themselves will enhance their misery by remaining alive and cutting off their tongue instead. 😕
Going back to Pratap, I sometimes lose respect for him. I feel that he knows what is the right thing to do (rescue Rann singh) but allows others to influence him and tell him what they think should be done. I would have more respect if he were to simply arrive at the conclusions he arrives at by himself instead of being brainwashed by Raja jaimal and guruvar and chakrapani. 😕
The thought that 1000 gun-toting soldiers would participate in a war that does not benefit them in any way and where there are no stakes for them in terms of winning was a little stupid to begin with. I don't know why Pratap wasted his time. He should have headed back to chittore immediately and if at all anyone had to talk to the soldiers to convince them to join, then Jaimal could have spoken to their leader.
I mean had Pratap been in the fort what would he have done? Would he have left the fort to go talk to the leader of the gun-toting soldiers? Would he not have sent a deputy?
