Everyone has the capacity to love but to love someone the right way only a few people know how !

This Valentines day as you spend with your loved ones you would have been bombarded with articles on compatibility, your ideal partner, what’s lacking what’s great in your relationships , break ups & new beginnings what you should expect from your partner etc.

But seldom talked about is the art of loving someone do you have it in you to love someone the way they deserve ? And I don’t mean just your romantic partner it’s all your important relationships. Whoever you are & whichever role you play in life be it in your friendships, as a parent, or as daughter/ son etc.

Lets examine the criteria needed for a relationship to flourish .

Freedom

This one’s obvious. But is it really …! Do you give freedom in your relationships ?

Does the other person have the freedom to be themselves completely & to be accepted wholeheartedly in this relationship !

Or are they shutting down a part of themselves just to maintain this relationship.

Do they have the freedom to the make the decisions they need to take for their own personal growth.

Whether they are right or wrong are you always on their side.

Do you know when to give them space when they need it or be there when they need someone ?

You can love someone & they would love you back but you can still make them miserable .

Love without freedom gives birth to unhappiness.

Respect

You can love someone but do you truly value that person as an individual in his/her own right.

Do you respect his/her opinions or take his / her input on things as important ?

When making decisions do you take their feelings into consideration or are dismissive of them.

You may love someone but that doesn’t automatically translate into thinking highly of them.

What i just said applies to all relationships not just romantic ones …families friends etc.

Trust

To be a happy and healthy person in your relationship you need to add trust as an ingredient in the recipe that is called love .

Trust makes a relationship grow stronger !

Wherever they are whatever decisions they take , in whichever situations they find themselves . Do you show them your capability to trust them & their choices.

When they leave the house every morning to face the battles that await them outside. Do they do that secure in knowledge that you would be by their side in whatever challenges they meet.

Trust means offering someone security withholding your trust means giving them misery !

I have not written anything new . These qualities I mentioned you already know about them . What I am offering is another perspective.

Freedom Respect Trust these are basic rights that every human being deserves. But sometimes we take them for granted.

So as this Valentines day draws to a close ask yourself what do you give someone when you love them.

After all Love also means to make your special person happy !

Am i right ?

Chapter 6

Ant man Nice 👌

🧐 Somehow your villain seems invincible i don't know how they will defeat him

Chapter 7

No not bakwas. Entertaining

I can't believe Piya didn't feel Mo's nail near her neck.

It seems our heroes have no way out except Piya's suicide.

I'm curious how you're going to resolve that.

Rudra now seems like a red herring. Chalo let's see 😉

By the way what does pandulipiyan mean ?

Chapter 8

If the chain and locket are joined by a mantra then should the chain be so fragile. It should be put in a stronger mould

Ant outsmarting Mo Good one 👏

Welcome back to writing. All in all a good read.

The woman of Jinn have only right to love...

Image

First off i want to applaud the cast & crew 👏🏻 for smarty managing the episodes around the pandemic. Thanks to that we viewers got a chance to watch Jinn an extra week. The second thing was i was marvelling at the actors performances in the flashbacks. Wordlessly in just a few frames they told a poignant tale.

At the same time those flashbacks drew my ire. It struck me it’s not just Roshni the women in Jinn too are badly misrepresented. The don’t have the right to financial freedom.

Prime example is Rubina after marriage she lost her family, her property, her company, her house. The very same house that the Khan family have taken possession of. Aman standing in that very same home managing the company gotten through bloodshed , condemned Rubina all these years as that 'dusri aurat'. It’s not like Parveen & rest of family didn’t know the truth. Sitting in the lap of luxury they felt comfortable with continuing their 'dusri aurat' drama while Rubina struggled as a single mother in a small home. Hypocrisy doesn’t get any richer than this.

And Rubina does she evict them from her home or stake a claim on her properties. No she silently bows her head to condemnation & works to save Aman from the shadows.

Parveen ( though we came to know later she’s a Jinn) after learning of her husband’s infidelities couldn’t leave because she was financially dependent on her husband.

Roshni this serial is determined to have her completely at the mercy of her husband’s whims. When he wants she can have the bakery, when he wants she can have a home. If he’s displeased with her he can kick her out of his home. She can’t claim her husband’s home or money, otherwise that would make her a gold digger. Never mind she’s the rightful heir. Oh and he decides when they are separated & when they are reconciled. Should she decide to opt out of the marriage she will lose custody rights of her kids. I’m betting they will copy Nazar to bring about a trp driven leap.

Does our intrepid heroine mind ? No she happily relinquishes her right to her agency while mouthing feminist dialogues like “ I’m not a doormat...

I have my self-respect” to her husband. After all she has a farishta ka dil no. A far cry from Nikaah (1982) where Salma Aga’s Nilofer protested she’s not a possession to be handed out to the men. A film ahead of it’s time.

No the women of Jinn don’t have right to financial freedom not even on their own bodies. The women of Jinn have only the right to love. Heaving bosoms they softly coo "AMAN !" in the background whenever something happens to our hero.

Roshni forgives Aman’s tantrums every time in the name of love. Aman the man child thinks it’s his right to abuse Roshni because she belongs to him. And we all gush at this immortal love story. I ask you guys do we really want a love story at the expense of women’s empowerment ? Don’t we want to see stories where women are independent before she falls in love.

In the west there is a growing awareness of feminism in shows like Charmed or Supergirl. The audience there want to see a strong & independent woman instead of a love story. Even their love interests need to pass certain standards before being accepted. Why can’t we have something like this here on TV. I should add this show is made by a women for predominantly female audiences not men !

This was my issue with Jinn what did you all dislike about Jinn ?

Ek Nazar Nozor par...

I finally got the time to this. Out of curiosity I watched the first 3 episodes of Nozor some time back. How would they compare to our show ? What would they do differently in theirs ? Particularly our Daayan’s 😈

In the opening shot when they introduced Maya as a frightened young woman in the railway station. I couldn’t help comparing her to Mo. She convincingly comes off as an innocent woman in a way that even Mo could not. Mo in comparison comes off as a sly vixen trying to act coy. For a few seconds she even had me fooled knowing she’s a daayan.

But when it’s her turn to be menacing when’s she terrorising her victim there she can’t beat her hindi counterpart. She comes off as cute like one of those heroines of asian dramas , while Mo looks positively predatory.

Observe this scene while Mo opens her jaws to devour her victim

Image

Maya looks like she’s daintily sipping nectar.

Maya lacks the oomph among other things. It’s not just about doing a role. Mo’s role is tailor made for her. So whoever fills her shows needs to be equally dynamic.

This was about Daayan’s, the rest whoever wants to discuss other characters or other aspects of Nozor... i would love to hear about it.

Hola Amigos 🤠 your favourite bartender is back. I had permanently shut up my bar but this lockdown forced me out of retirement. To entertain you..to console you this bar & myself are at your service. (takes a bow)

A toast 🍸 to everyone managing in this lockdown I present to you Margarita. Made up of tequila, lime, agave & orange liqueur it is said to balance four of the five human tastes : salty, sweet, bitter & sour. The salty rim of the glass cuts the bitterness of the lime and tequila while heightening the sweetness & sourness. While the lime’s citrusy flavour neutralises it’s bitterness. Just like real life.

We all have good, bad, salty, bitter, sweet , funny moments. Never all together, sometimes the funny undercuts the bitter moments & the salty undercuts the sweet moments or a combination of all.

So my question to you is During this lockdown what were your Khatti Meethi moments or Margarita Moments ?

So are you ready to play 🤗 " How Talli are you ?" To those not familiar with the game. I'll explain the rules once again.

For every bad moment you list

You assign yourself a Margarita 🍸

And for every good moment you list you give yourself

a Neutralizer 🍉 .

Every time you have one it neutralises the effects of the Margarita you drank.

For eg

Good moments

I got the chance to spend time with my family 🍉

I enjoyed this particular movie or book etc 🍉

Bad moments

This particular situation frustrated me 🍸

I hate this character 🍸

It could be any topic. No hard & fast rule.

Tally - 2 🍉 2 🍸 = Not Talli

Are you with me so far ...

After you’re done having all Margaritas and Neutralizers you tally the points to gauge your talli-ness !!

For eg If you have

5 T’s and 3 N’s = Tipsy 🥰

5 T’s and 2 N’s = Talli 😚

And if it is

5 T’s and 1 N = Then toh Fultoo Talli 🤪

In case it is

5 T’s and 4 N = You’re just in high spirits ☺️

And finally

5 T’s and 5 N’s = Not Talli 😇

And ofcourse we won't forget you Talli's 😉 apke liye gaane aapke mood ke hisaab se pesh kiye jayenge all you have to do is make a song request. 🥁 🎷🎵

The Bar is now Open 👾

Back to the Future part 1

Man i just loved how in ancient times also wife showed the husband the couch 😆👏

Gandu throwing her husband to sleep on the throne was epic.

So was using that dice trope. This time they bet on Sanjay - Lagey Raho

Each episode they introduced modern concepts in the show pehle Court case then Underage Driving then this time Election Loved it 👍🏼

D'Souza going like the typical hindi film heroine bacho bachao was too good.

He is my favorite character so far.

I was pleasantly surprised they could go back to the future. Even more to see Dhritu's doppelganger. Wouldn't it be great to see other doppelgangers in serial end like Sunaina Gandu.

This way Sanju can happily go to the future.

Gandu friend zoning no bhrata zoning Suryabhan was 🤣
