But seriously, i don't think it's SaYa either. Before Maya can ever form a relationship with anyone, she has to be cured. And i think the show ends with her either healing or dying. Nevertheless, let's wait and watch.

Maya is the lead of the show and that is why she features in the promo. Because the show is because of her obsession and their consequences. Baaki everyone are supporting characters- Arjun And saanjh and Ashwin(pehle)being the primary ones.

That does not make her morally right.

It is totally okay for a dark character to be the LEAD of the show. No matter protagonist or not.

It is rare in India but there are quite a lot of shows and movies of that genre abroad. Where the lead of the show is dark/vampish.

It is here in Indian TV where literally everything is in Binary.

Protagonist(Devi maata) or Vamp(komalika types with dum tana tana) .

Also, maya isnt just a depression patient. Because that doesnt make people manipulative- coming from someone who has seen a close friend with issues. Yes. That doesnt make people manipulative. Severe depression causes self harm etc. But the manipulative part is because of severe OCD and chosing the dark part. Yes. Everyone with Mental illness doesnt take the dark.path. She took. Yes there were circumstances that were questioning. Like her troubled childhood. But the bottomline is- she did cross lines. And all her actions cant be morally justified. Redemption is not impossible. But for that she needs medical help rn. Before the madness makes her do things that cant be undone.

She needs help. Yes. But as I always say- her redemption- if possible or not- will depend on the extent to which she'll go.

-Coming from a neutral viewer. See I dont want to be called hater or fan and stuffs. I just see the show for the story. And yes. I like Maya. I like Arjun, Saanjh, Ayaan, Ashwin and everyone. What I didnt like was the police wala track where the CVs did a major deviation from the original track.

I like this show too and watch it for what it is. It is not my story to tell -- It is Maya's story for CVs to tell. I am Ok with whatever they show as long as they stay away from bhoot-paret.

It is CVs fault when the very first promo they aired in July 2016, had a pandit predicting a very grave future for ArYa, even before the show started!
Then came the Mauritius Pandit!
if anyone is to take blame, it is only CVs! They are setting such bad examples that is totally unacceptable! isn't it?
But it will not cut much ice! They are too clever and easily get away saying the show is not only about 'romance' but also something to do with 'thriller'! What to do?

My use of the word "vamp" has taken this thread in a completely different direction than I had intended. I am not disputing that Maya is the lead. This is her story.

I have seen a lot of discussion on the forum about Maya's illness. There are off-screen spoilers and interviews about the subject as well. However, on the show I did not see any mention of mental illness except some depression talk nor did Maya's actions looked that abnormal - many have stood on the cliff threating suicide to make the other do what they want, many characters have slashed their wrists to evoke sympathy or love in someone, many have taken their frustration out on poor helpless animals. Maya's background music is ominous, indicating something may be wrong but if you mute it out, her actions, though amoral, were not enough to conclude mental illness for me.

Thank you to everyone who addressed this by pointing out different actions/scenes that portrayed mental illness. My apologies to those I haven't answered directly.

1. She previously suffered from insomnia. I don't know about how that problem vanished.😕

Maya is a psycho , has depression,. they are both mental disorders. and for medical help she needs to see a psychiatrist. calling her dangerous than vamp is insensitive. anybody in this world with an abusive childhood tend to b mentally very weak. a persons childhood days are very very important in his life. she is very insecured. she intentionally doesn't want to hurt anybody.

There are three main leads of this show ; Maya, Arjun and Saanjh The main vamp in the story Ashwin died and vamps generally does not have any mental issues or bad past or insecurities. They only want to possess their so called obsession as trophy which is taken by somebody else. If you are really not aware of vamps start watching daily soaps you will understand how the main leads are attacked by acid attack, kidnaps, constantly maligning the girl's image in front of world, trying to kill own sibling for obsession and what not . Did Maya do any sort of like that, did she harm Saanjh, did she made her kidnap, tried to kill her, before you all say about holi, lets say not Maya but will world keep quite seeing Dusky duffer's drama. Maya has caged Jhanvi for a reason, if you guys don't remember let me remind you when Jhanvi was in hospital, Whenever Maya sent her mother out, something happens to her and who has to bear the consequence.
