Maya has a conscience but im sure she doesn't realise the consequences of what she's doing when she does it. She is not evil, but she is not completely sane either. When it comes to herself, she doesnt think of anybody but her. Shes selfish, surely. Maya is a very complex character, we need to know more abt her still

Lovely post! I love reading your takes on the episodes. I think Maya is the reason most of us are watching the show. There are so many aspects to Maya which the standard daily soap heroine would never have.
I totally agree with you with on this point - You feel sad for Maya and fear Maya. Most of the times, I feel sad for Maya. And the point you made about two types of victims of abuse is spot-on. And Maya surely falls into the second category. If you get bullied, there is a high chance that you'd end up becoming one when you come across weaker beings (I am not saying Maya is a bully, but just as an example of the second variety you spoke about). I see that with lot of kids. I feel empathy for Maya because of the miserable childhood that she had. She is a victim of abuse, and the scars of this victimhood need healing. Yet, she has showed tremendous fighting spirit to make a mark for herself in her life - inspite of a weak support system. Unfortunately, other than Saanjh, I don't see anyone who is perceptive enough to understand and heal Maya.

@Ani once again you have summed up Maya's condition very well. Especially I liked the categorization of people into 2 kinds. One who fight the practices and the other who continues the practices.

See this is where I am expecting the path crossing of Maya and Saanjh. Till now Maya has been a victim and she has made other's victim. She is going to make Saanjh a victim. But Saanjh will rise from the ashes and become personality number 1, even bringing Maya out of the mess. Saanjh calls herself Durga. Durga is that form of Goddess who has both constructive and destructive forces in her. And her destruction happens for the right cause, right thing while she nurtures and preserves the right things.
Now her behavior with Jhanvi. Maya the child was abused and Jhanvi would have stood as s witness that hapless abla nari seeing her child tortured. So though Maya loves her mom, somewhere there is a vengeance in her towards her mother who has allowed the torture of the helpless child. She doesn't trust her mother that is why she has kept Jhanvi in a cage. And for obvious reasons. After all torture Jhanvi wants Ashwin. Because she is married, because she thinks marriage is sacred, because of sanskaar whatever rubbish you call it, Jhanvi doesn't give Maya a chance to trust her.
Maya is alone, Ashwin has his mistress. Instead of giving unconditional love, medical attention to her daughter Jhanvi is trying escapism. Trying to put her problem on someone else head. Arjun looks the best option for her. Once Maya marries all problems over. Never mind what condition she will put the man into.
She reminds me of those mothers who do the same with sons. Get a girl to reform your good for nothing son or medically ill son. Marriage was told to be a cure for medical condition like epilepsy.
Our society has to move away from marriage and love is the solution to all problems to understand marriage is between 2 healthy individuals. Healthy means both physical and mental who are able to give and take and their union benefit them, family and society as a whole.
And the saas -bahu dramas. The crying bahus of those soap operas give rise to a generation like that of Maya. Maybe not to that extend, but a confused generation who has relationship problems, premarital and extra marital relations and divorces.

Thank you! 😳 Your inputs are quite appreciated Shruthi, its because of you and your posts do I look out for your view because it helps me understand things even better.

Absolutely right! Love and marriage is not a miracle of sorts which will end up solving all problems there are. For two people to be able to live peacefully together, physical and mental well-being matters a lot apart from other factors that play out in a successful marriage. Jhanvi indeed has failed as a mother but the reason she's maya's biggest support system is because Jhanvi was the only on she could rely on in those difficult times.

Saanjh already seems to have started putting her grey cells to use. In the precap, she seems to be testing Maya just the way Maya tested her patience and endurance while she was at dinner with her. Tables turn and how! And Maya seems to have proven her obsessive streak once again.

Exactly, that's how such people end up, either fighting against it or contributing to it themselves. I think Vandana too along with Saanjh would be proved crucial.

@ani thanks. Actually you also summarize the episode quite well. I cannot put long winding posts from my mobile which many times your post warrant.
You are right, saanjh is trying to break Maya's faade and it is not going to go well with Maya.

When Maya said that Jhanvi has to be only her mother, it also means that Maya wouldn't let Jhanvi move on in life and maybe find someone else for herself. And this someone need not be a love interest either; could be a friend with whom she can feel free to share her pain... kind of like the day she went to meet Arjun. We all know Jhanvi constantly going off to Ashwin is wrong but Jhanvi being caged like this is unfair for her. She deserves to be herself first instead of limited to being Maya's mother.

That sucks. I'm so sorry!

Btw, I'm sorry for having requested outta the blue in a post dedicating to discussing the episode. I've not watched the show in sometime. The latest promo has piqued my interest and I might catch up with the episodes over the weekend.

I worked on a new set, it's not as good as the one that crashed but guess that's okay. Here.
