Awesome post. The way you categorized the characters according to Mahabharata was nice. But I think Rishi lacks the characteristics of Karna. First Karna was a warrior who get along with Duryodhan for the injustice which happened with him ( I have not much knowledge in Mahabharat, so correct me if I'm wrong). Rishi is neither a warrior nor a good human. For saving himself, he didn't even care that he pushed another. He can be the latter Karna with MJ.
Thanks, Razia. I mentioned Karna in the context that he had blind loyalty to Duryodhan. Which Rishi kind of has for Mrityunjay. In the first episode, we saw, when his mother calls him, he could not hear her and when Mrityunjay calls him once, he goes over to him. Apart from that, Karna himself is not that great a character. A man who was an equal participant in the vastraharan and killing of Abhimanyu, cannot be considered good. In the modern context, what Rishi did today was just an immature act he did out of fear and he does not come off as a risktaker when you have a dad to fulfill your wishes. But one incident should not really be a judge of how his character graph goes.

Honestly, being just dumped by a man does not really push someone to the edge like this. There is more than betrayal. This involves humiliation, shame, death, agony all mixed into one. If they have to establish Maya as someone to sympathize with, then the story really needs to be strong.
Does anyone really bother to coach Rishi in how to interact with women in that house, except Rudra? I don't know.
As it should. Like can you imagine someone telling you, “oh I’ve been dumped and cheated on, so I’m going to go berserk and take revenge from the entire khandaan?!”
Even humiliation should be backed severely with other solid reasons. Don’t just give us an affair and a party scene in which he threw money at her ITV and Bollywood has done this several times already.
Nope! He is the quintessential “Raja Beta” who is spoilt silly by his mum. Besides MJ acting pathetically (like which father stalks his son to the point he knows when was the last time he talked to some girl?!) He hasn't bothered to straight up talk to his son and ask him what’s going on?! 🤪

I love that you brought the Arjun-Karna reference here. It's spot on. Interestingly, both Arjun-Karna were Draupadi's suitors in Mahabharata. It was Krishna who made Draupadi to stop Karna from being able to fulfill the challenge set up by King Drupad to win Draupadis hand in marriage. While she willingly chose Arjun. Much like it will be Maya who will choose Rudra but love is going to be a very difficult journey for Mayra.
Another interesting point from Rudra's character pov is that Draupadi was married to all 5 brothers coz she had prayed to Lord Vishnu to give her a husband who had all five qualities- morality (yudhishthir), strength (bheem), valor/charisma (Arjun), neutrality/balance (nakul) , foresight (sahdev) . Mayas challenge is revealing Rudra's character and it measures up perfectly.
Thanks @Armu4eva.
@bold - In this context Krishna and Draupadi are rolled into one Maya, so we can imagine what will happen to Rishi. He may be humiliated.
Ye to kalyug hai, Maya cannot have five husbands, but all 5 qualities which you spelled out, some of them are definitely visible in Rudra. The rest of these will develop over time.

Okay, I understand. But I had really much expectation from this character. Anyway, letting it go.

Absolutely. I meant the 5 husbands as embodying the 5 qualities that Rudra possesses and which make him worthy to be Mayas partner. Arjun was Krishnas favorite student as well as Draupadis love. Here both Krishna/Draupadi are Maya. He is destined to be her fave. Let's see how it goes especially once the MJ-Maya background story is revealed.

Yes, I agree. pak chuki hu main ye typical humiliation scenes dekh kar
Exactly, Baap-beta stalker tendencies ke maalik hai. Rudra hi normal hai yahaan.

Don't be sad dear. You never know, in future episodes they may turn his character around.
Karna actually is one of the few anti-hero characters I can understand, tho not empathize with. He was denied an education in the gurukul for being a soot putra so he lied to Parshuram to study with him. Even though he is a loyal character he compromised himself from the start. I think Rishi has a potential to develop as a anti-hero especially if he finds out Maya played him or that Rudra loves Maya too. Again interesting times ahead. I hope today we get to see some background story of MJ-Rudra.
