I'd like to discuss what stood out the most for me in today's episode; triggers.
Trigger 1 : Whatever the past holds, whatever tragedy Maya's gone through, it seems like there's a fire accident involved. Her reaction to the fire alarm alert on her phone wasn't purely of panic; she seemed triggered. Frightened that history might be repeating itself again. She was in tears too and only calmed down upon realising that the smoke was coming out of the oven.
Trigger 2 : The what's your value gibe and Rudra's bracelet. I absolutely loved Jen's portrayal of what it's like when someone's triggered. She got triggered, lost her ground, flashbacks came back to haunt her and then she regained calm and composure, all in a matter of a moment. Such brilliance, Jennifer!
From Maya and her mother's conversation and the way her mother was introduced, she didn't exactly appear to be someone who is suffering from psychological conditions as some views around speculate. She definitely is reeling in grief though. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of the father-son duo being alive just yet because I think they have managed to keep the mystery around it well. On one hand, there's the dialogue exchange, 'kuch rishte toot jaate hain, par uss rishte se bandhe insaan nahi chut te. Ho sake toh rishton ko choddna seekhiye, insaan se bandhan apne aap toot jayega; kuch rishte chodde nahi choot te' hinting more towards the end of the relationships rather than the death of the people and then on the other hand, there's Maya's dialogue, 'Cake jal chuka hain, Papa aur Manas ke saath humare rishte ki tarah; jaali hui cheezon ko haath lagane se sirf apne haath kale hote hain' which seems like a metaphor to me for ashes for the dead one's being sift through. Add to that Manas's voice note, that entire shot of her having the burnt cake to going and sitting on the table has a very dubious tone. So, chances of either of the cases being true is 50-50% as far as this episode is concerned. More shall be revealed gradually, I suppose, as I hadn't even expected Maya to have a mother this season.
I assume it's almost safe to conclude that Disha's MJ's daughter out of an illicit relationship. MJ's mother almost confirmed it by saying, 'tum toh aise naraaz ho rahi ho jaise uss ne apne baap se nahi tumhare baap se baat ki ho' and calling her a 'shraap'. Rishi's perhaps is oblivious to Disha's real identity. Otherwise, I wouldn't see how he would call his step-sister D-aunty and also flirt with her. Antara's may be the only one who has accepted Disha into the family and that's another reason Rudra's upset with his mother. Also, no interaction between Rudra and Disha so far suggests that too.
Thoughts, people? 😃
PS Since Rudra is 30, MJ should be in his 50's atleast if not in 60's and that'd put Maya's somewhere between 30-50. In her late thirties or early forties and that brings another theory into consideration which I personally wasn't quite fond of, a possible past romantic relationship between MJ and Maya. 🤔
