Dec 5th - Fear of Touch
Going forward, I'll give each date a specific title based on what I feel the overarching theme is.
The real Rishi - We're starting to see the real Rishi now. The way his friend joked "kaunsi wali" when Rishi said his party is set suggests that he has a playboy image. And the way he bragged gave an inkling of that frail ego that boys like Rishi could have. One thing I can say with certainty is that either he'll turn out to be completely negative like Shaurya from EHT or he'll turn out to have a heart of gold like Kabir from Haasil (coincidentally both are Vatsal Sheth's roles - I guess he just ends up playing the rich, spoilt brat on TV repeatedly). I'm starting to lean towards the heart of gold only because despite this playboy, spoilt image, he still does what he can to try to mend the gap between Rudra and MJ even if it means putting himself in the middle and forcing them to stand together for a bit.
The tried and tested ploy - Sorry got to laugh for a minute here. 🤣

Okay now that I've had my laugh, what a ploy by Maya. The filmy love style - you see the person everywhere. And she decided to do exactly that. Appear and then disappear to make Rishi feel like he's falling in love and seeing her everywhere. Alright I need another minute as I laugh again.

By the way, just wondering who that guy in yellow was standing behind Maya. Probably just an extra but in the blurriness it looked like he was just staring at Maya. My mind is working overtime when it comes to this show.
The sweet and deep friendship - Aww what a sweet and deep friendship between Rudra and Ananya. He knows she loves him and yet there's no awkwardness between them. Rudra has Rishi's streaks, he tried to make up to her by making her laugh first and then became the more serious and sincere Rudra. The two share a good understanding as well. Ananya forgave him immediately when she saw he was sincere about his friendship. That's how friendship should be and I hope their friendship doesn't get spoilt by MJ's insistence that the two get married. It should be Rudra's decision. Ananya has already said yes, but it should be Rudra's choice, not MJ's force or even business bargain.
Ruthless MJ - And here we get to see MJ's ruthless side. To be 100% sure that someone tried to kill Rishi, he was willing to put his employees' lives at risk to the point where he almost let one of them die. Here we also get to see that Aamir isn't as ruthless. I was half-expecting him to jump into the water to save the man without MJ's approval. This may prove that Aamir is working against MJ, but too early to tell. Side note: those red pants looked so sexy! ☺️
The ruthlessness isn't just for outsiders, but for his own family as well. He loves his sons, but he also wants to control them. Right now he has no problems that Rishi is in love, but the day Rishi starts rebelling, then his love will be a problem. On the other hand, he will do anything to keep Rudra under his thumb. He can call it whatever he wants: concern, worry, not my Rudra, but at the end of the day, it's just about controlling Rudra.
Maa baap ke karan bache kyun bhoogtein - I won't call it the dialogue of the day, but it is an intriguing dialogue. Antara knows something and knows why Rishi could be targeted. She may also have had a hand in it else she could have said just "baap" instead of "maa baap". It may have nothing to do with Maya. I'm sure to get where they are, MJ and Antara both would have hurt people. Something else to note here is that both MJ and Nandini are more worried for Rishi than Rudra. MJ showed concern that Rudra was stabbed, but that was it. Both don't want anything to happen to Rishi. Either Rudra isn't their real son or they know that Rudra can take care of himself and nothing would ever happen to him. The second one might be a stretch though given that Rudra is willing to go to any extent to stay away from MJ and keep his company afloat.
The fear of touch - The biggest topic of the day. It was a small moment, but a defining moment. Maya isn't scared of anyone's touch. She's just scared of touch by the Roys. The way she doesn't touch Rudra's hand, the way she shies away from Rishi, and then the reaction and memory trigger when Rishi does touch her - they all indicate just the Roys. Whatever happened to her it destroyed her to the core and being close to and touching the Roys brings those memories back. Today also gives us a glimpse into what may have happened to Maya. She was close to whoever this person is who deceived her. I'm not ready to say it was MJ. But whoever it was, was either a Roy or very close to the Roys. He was the person she possibly loved the most in the world and when he showed her place to her, it killed her. But it didn't leave behind a shell. No. Maya still feels. She tries to hide it, but she can't and when it consumes her, it leads her to take actions like pouring hot coffee over her own hand and then scrubbing her hand until it was raw.
This fear is so deep that it makes her reaching out to Rudra that much more important. Rudra will stay true to his word. He will not touch her or hold out his hand to her again. He understood that she's not the touching type. Hence, he will keep his word. But when she reaches out to shake his hand, he will respond in like.
Rishi, on the other hand, wants to play the knight in shining armour, but he doesn't understand Maya and I don't think he ever will. Because for him, in his naivety, he thinks all women are the same and if he understands one, then he understands them all. What he doesn't realize is that humans, not just women, are more complex than that. There is no cookie cutter model. He still has a lot to learn and in the process he'll keep making mistakes like this and we'll keep seeing more of Maya.
Maya doesn't want her own mother to see that pain. Is it because it may make her sad or bring out some hidden pain? Of course, another touch-me-not point is both her father and brother. Yesterday, the mention of Manas made Maya angry and today, the moment Nandini mentioned Maya's father, Maya fell back from the hug.
Sach ki ladayi mein baha khoon kabhi aap ke haaton mein nahi lagta - This is the dialogue of the day. It is such a foreshadowing dialogue! Blood will flow, murders will happen, and yet it'll all be in this battle. And when blood is lost in a battle, it leaves behind no marks. It's like Maya is absolving herself of whatever crimes she commits next because it'll all be in a battle to make truth prevail. Yet, is that fully true? Is murder committed in the pursuit of truth really that easily absolvable? Does it leave no marks on the soul? It does. It will come back to haunt. But, at the same time, it may be a balm on the pains that mark the soul, especially if the death is of the person who harmed you. If it's innocent blood though, it cannot be absolved because that innocent did nothing to you. Still Maya feels it'll absolve her and thus, in her pursuit of the truth, she will commit murder and not let it affect her.
Other Notes:
- BLOOPER ALERT! The swimming pool that MJ conducted the test in was made to look like the deep end, but when the first employee came out, he was standing up with water only coming up to his chest. Even if he was using all his strength to keep him out of the water, no way he could be standing. And then when Aamir was saving the other employee, you could see the ground. It was probably only a few feet deep.
