Zoya tapped her fingers on the table, glancing up at the clock nervously. Adi would be home in ten minutes, that was all. Yet a whole hour alone felt horrific. Whether it was the shadows that covered the walls or the sounds that made her jump. Sure, she was alone, but she didnt feel it. Every time she shut her eyes, it was as if she was back there, back with Rajveer.
Zoya stood up, crossing her arms, she walked up and down the hallway anxiously. She needed something to do, something to keep busy from the horrible thoughts in her head. She felt a calmness surround her as the front door open
"Hey, everything okay Zoya" Adi asked, shutting the door behind him
Zoya nodded "Yes, you want a tea"
Adi nodded "Sure, so I spoke to my father, he's willing to take on your case, but um, you will need photographic evidence, so I could take you to see Noor"
"No, no I dont want her to see any of this, cant we go to a centre or"
"Yes, we can, look Zoya, sit down, please"
Zoya did as told, looking up at him patiently
"I want nothing more than to help you, but if you aren't ready to have photos taken, then you dont have to, you have to let me know what you feel comfortable doing and what you dont"
"Thank you Adi, but I just want this over with, so I can start a life afresh with my sister, so if you dont mind, can we go now" Zoya asked, the fear was starting to eat away at her, but she had to be strong for Noor.

Zoya pulled the long sleeves of the scratchy grey jumper over her hands, then sat down on the seat. Her hair was tied in a messy bun, strands dangling down onto her face. Her cheeks were red from the tears that had rolled down her face, her eyes hurt. Zoya glanced up slowly. "Adi, it was horrible" she sobbed before burying her head into her hands
Adi knelt before her. "Hey, Zoya its okay, the worst is over now, you were so strong, so so strong, now they have evidence okay, all thats left is statements, and hopefully thats enough for it to go to court, but we dont have to worry about any of that right now, lets go and relax and do something fun, what is something you have always wanted to do"
Zoya shrugged "I dont, I dont know, I was never allowed outside the house much, what are the options"
"Lets just go for a walk for now, tomorrow we can work out a plan of things you would like to do, okay" he grabbed her hands, pulling her up
"Okay, thank you, I'm sorry I keep crying" she laughed sadly
"Oh, please dont apologise, its good to cry" he rubbed her arm softly as he led her out

"So, what was your childhood dream" Adi turned his head, as he walked up the hill beside Zoya
"I think I always just wanted to be someone who had everything, happiness, a family, a job, for so long it was something I never had, from a young age all I had was Noor after my parents died, so that was really my only focus, what about you"
"Wow thats uh deep" he scratched the back of his neck "I honestly just wanted to be a chef, can't cook at all though" he laughed
Zoya smiled "I think when I met Rajveer, he seemed like everything I wanted, he was smart and funny, he always made me feel so good about myself, then one day, he lost his temper, he hit me but it seemed like he felt so bad about it, I forgave him of course, then it just got worse"
Adi raised his hand, holding Zoya's tightly "God Zoya, im so sorry, that makes me so angry, I wish you had never gone through any of that, you deserve so much better"
Zoya smiled "Fate is a wicked thing, he was a nightmare dressed as a daydream, he was all I had when I lost Noor, I always felt like it was a punishment for losing her"
Adi turned her around to face him "Zoya, you can't think things like that, none of this was your fault"
Her face crumpled, her shoulders slacking "Then why, then why did he hurt me, what was my mistake, I loved him, I still do, I tried so hard to please him but it was never enough, every sound made me jump because I thought he was coming to hurt me again, I begged him to stop" her tone turned bitter "But he didnt, he never did, I was never enough for Noor, thats why another family adopted her and I was never enough for him, sooner or later you're going to realise that im not enough for you either Adi, so please stop trying to be my friend, dont get to close because all I will do is bring you pain"
Adi gripped her shoulders tightly "Zoya, Zoya look at me carefully and listen to me, you are not at fault for any of this, you were a child, it wasn't your job to become Noor's mother but fate brought you back together, losing her wasnt your fault, and Rajveer is at fault for hurting you, it isnt normal to abuse someone, it means something is wrong in him, not in you, you understand"
Zoya sunk to her knees "I just want him to go away, and he wont, im so scared he will come back and destroy me"
Adi wrapped his arms around her, kneeling on the ground with her "I wont let him hurt you again, im here Zoya, im here" he whispered into her hair as he rocked her back and forth
But then again, neither of them saw the pair of eyes glaring at them with pure hatred
Hi everyone, first of all I would really like to apologise for the updates being so extremely late. I became very busy, then was caught in a fire, but am okay now, well on the road to being okay anyway. I am pretty free now until August time, so updates will be much more frequent.
