Yes Hammie the marriage the way it is practiced today is as a patriarch concept only. I mean sending the girl to her husband's family.since generations it's been like so.. in some cultures a big song and dance and tears are made out of this tradition.. I think it comes from the stereotypical concept as man being the provider.. with new age women.. they have the choice to single and provide and fend for themselves.. its a broad subject ., the implications of remaining single so won't go into it..

And that's why the present problems in marriage also crop up. Because a woman is not a property she is a thinking human. Today women are questioning the male dominance. So marriage can survive only as a partnership a union of mutual respect. for sure she is not a doormat, women have duties as much as they have rights! in this day and age..

I am a strong advocate of marriage the reason being a child needs father and mother and marriage is the best institution at present that can give a safe and healthy nurture for the child. Of course it has to happen the right way with mutual respect and love between the partners.

beautiful comment.. true say.. and commonly accepted too.. my heart goes for single parents..both men and women.. divorced or widowed.. makes it hard for a child something it could do without.. Zoya.. I refer to as a widow.. and take into account the agro she faced... but admirable how she conducts herself by putting others first.. sort of takes away the existing pain away from her...
