One-Shot: Where's Your Game?

She had prided herself in being a seductress for crying out loud! Was it not her who had cheekily suggested that her husband discard his clothing lest he feared getting it dirty while suggestively snuggling up to him while he blushed and shirked away? Who was that woman? For at the moment, Zoya Siddiqui felt her entire being at the verge of spontaneous combustion at the prospect of making a similar suggestion to the man casually leaning against the window frame, almost a breath's distance away from her and his gaze wandering with lazy indulgence in a careful examination over her face. Something told her, he would readily oblige. The thought instantly warmed up her cheeks. What the hell was wrong with her! Get a grip!, she chided herself.

"A penny for your thoughts?", Aditya Hooda's voice, lazed with amusement (the galls of this man!), broke her out of her self- reprimanding session.

"Nothing!" She said, almost defensively.

"Really? I see. An interesting hue for nothing I must say", he drawled.

"It's hot", she retorted, internally grimacing at the giveaway defensive tone of her voice that sounded pathetic to her own ears.

"I am glad we agree on something. I thought it was just me", he said while giving his collar a slight adjustment. She looked sharply at him gathering the hints of innuendo behind the casually passed observation but got nothing but an innocent shrug of the shoulder in return. "Why are you standing so far from the window if you are hot? Come closer. It's a nice breeze out here."

She was a foot distance away from where he was, but whatever.

"I'm good", she smiled a tight-lipped smile.

"But you're flushed. You said it's the heat, right? You should come closer. The breeze is wonderful."

Yeah, a load of help that would do with the flush alright. Yet she couldn't let him draw other, more concerning conclusions either, so she took one hesitant step closer to the wide window. The breeze really was beautiful this evening and carried with it the strong scent of perfume worn by the man right next to her that did very alarming things to the grey cells inside her brain. Now if only her heart would stop beating itself up incessantly to the walls of her chest, she would perhaps be able to enjoy the cool better.

"Better?", he asked, in a gentle questioning voice.

She nodded.

"Zoya?"

"Hmm?"

"You still look pretty red in the face"

"I do NOT!"

"..."

"..."

"Could you look elsewhere?"

"...

"And could you wipe that look off your face?"

"What look?"

"That look"

"Please elaborate"

"Whatever. You know what? Do whatever you want. It's a beautiful sunset right before you but if my face concerns you more then that is your problem not mine."

"Allow me to look on for a while more and it might soon become your problem as well"

"...

"You are unbelievable!"

"And you, have no game"

Now this allegation hit the mark right on the sore spot. Zoya Siddiqui would not stand and hear about having no game. Even if her brain was doing this weird thing of pretending to be molten butter and her heart needed to calm the hell down before she underwent a stroke. She had a reputation to protect.

"Oh I have a lot of game!", she snapped, narrowing her eyes only so slightly at him.

"Really?", he said, while shifting his weight away from the window frame and straightening up to his full towering height. "Consider me intrigued."

No no no no.

"I- d-don't need to prove anything to you!" she instinctively took the tiniest step back.

"So, you admit defeat? Tch tch."

"I do not!" she fired back.

"My God it really is hot in here", Aditya adjusted his collar again. "Or maybe it's just this shirt."

Come on Zoya. There's your opening. You've done this before. You know what to say. Show him your game.

With a strong intake of breath, Zoya shook the strands of hair away from her face and looked at Aditya straight in the eye.

"Then maybe you should-"

"..."

"Yes?"

"You should, you know-you-"

"I don't actually"

"..."

"..."

"You should g-go sit inside and enjoy the air conditioning", she finished, turned around towards the window and shut her eyes in disappointment. He was right. She had no game. Or maybe she had lost all the game she had along with the other bits of her. Zoya Siddiqui of two years ago would have guffawed in her face at the moment.

While the tidal wave of self-loathing and doubt she had become so accustomed to recently began to take over her thoughts, two arms quietly snaked around her from the back in a stealthy, yet firm movement and before she knew it she felt herself pulled gently backward till she felt her back hit a solid warm surface.

Zoya froze as comprehension settled in. As the all too familiar scent invaded her senses, doing spectacular things to her sense of rationality, the warmth of her cheeks seemed to spread through her entire being. Her own ragged breath seemed too embarrassingly loud to her ears, yet she could feel a resonating sound coming from somewhere right next to her left ear as hot air disturbed the strands of hair near it.

"Zoya", Aditya murmured in a gentle, thickened voice into her ear as one rough hand gently grazed her cheek, making her shut her eyes at the sheer overwhelming sensation that coursed inside her with that innocuous gesture, "you...are walking game."

Okay, so this is trash but I had to get it out of my system. 😆 Thank you for reading!
