Why do we have double standards about festivals being shown ?

In all the years during which I have seen Indian dramas, I have never seen the 2 big Eids or Milad-Un-Nabi or Ramadan being celebrated in any show based on Hindu or Sikh families. I have never even seen it being mentioned. I have seen only a handful of Muslim based shows. I have never seen hindu female leads promoting Eid or Ramadan.

I just wanna ask...if everyone is felt so bad at the possibility of ZaYa not celebrating Holi. Then I just wanna know, do hindu shows celebrate these things ? No. Even Christmas is celebrated in dramas these days although christians are a even smaller in number than Muslims, but nobody ever raised questions on that.

I am just surprised to see that Holi is being expected from Beintehaa when nobody expected Ramadan or Eid from other popular shows. I have nothing against Hindus or any other religion. My best friends have always been hindu ( trust me ) and I loove them!! But I do not understand why it will be such a hug deal if BI doesn't show Holi, but it is alright that no characters on other shows ever mention Eid.

I have no issues if they show Holi or diwali in BI because I understand. My best friend is hindu and comes over to my house for iftaar sometimes during Ramadan, and I used to have prasad at my Aunt's neighbor's house when I went to India as a child . I have burst crackers before too although I don't like playing holi, but this unfair treatment of Muslim festivals makes me feel strange 😕

It's like I am more respected as a Muslim in America despite all the tension since the past 12-13 years.

Eid is a way more pious festival compare to Holi...In Our Hindus we dont hv rules nd regulation nd hence all religion ppl can celebrate even if they are unaware of core reason...

Wat i know is that Eid is very important festival for Muslims...There are so many rules nd regulations hence Hindus dont promote or celebrate as they ll not want to create ny mess or controversy. They ll not want to disrespect..the religion...But yeah Hindus do visit Ajmer Shariff nd Other Dargah's it is kinda flexible ...

Like if in Pakistani Shows I doubt if they ever showed Holi Diwali...Similarly in Hindu based TV Shows they dont show Eid nd Ramadan...

In the end its on you nd your surrounding where u live...

I honestly love the way you explained it 😊 I guess it is a sensitive topic because Eid is less for fun and more about religious significance so they prefer not to talk about it. I guess I can see it that way . Thanks!! And Congrats on your scores, bro!! I am so happy for u!! You will make ZaYa proud one day 😆 People will say " look he used to watch ZaYa all the time and still namanged to focus on studies and become a great engineer 😊😆

Eid and Ramzaan are more like 'Shiv Ratri' which are about prayers...even many Indian shows do not celebrate Shiv Ratri, Navratri, Janmashtami...coz they are all about poojas..
While Diwali, Holi and Ganesh Chaturthi are very dramatic festivals...lots of hungama...Its got nothing to do with religion...

Correct me if I am wrong...isnt the main significance of Eid - breaking the fast and being rewarded by god for your fasting/prayers/penance/patience...If they show Eid then they will have to show the leads fasting all through the period...and Hindus dont fast in Eid...M not even sure if they are allowed to? Are they? I thought non-muslims are not allowed to fast...since the Ramzaan fasts have many religious aspects associated with it...

Also Qubool Hai does show Eid...

The main point - TV shows take a lot of creative liberties...It is better if they dont show rather than show it wrong...they use plots like Holi and Diwali very negatively at times...In Sapne Suhane they showed the negative lead mixing glass in colors so that the heroine's face would be ruined...

In Diwali they try to burn each other...We dont have as many strict laws like in Islam...so I guess it would end up hurting the religion more than celebrating it...

Aahhh..Okay, got your first paragraph. Now about showing hindus fasting- Come on now, I am not stupid. Why would I want them to show hindu people fasting and staying hungry for no reason ? 🤣 I just mean that the whole eating Sheerk Khurma or giving kids eidis ( gift money) or wishing a Muslim family friend and going over to their Eid Milaap parties etc.

Allowed to ? I am not sure, it's not like they will be killed ( God forbid) if they fast so I don't know if allowed is the right word because really you can't stop someone from fasting if they feel like it. You can say they are not expected to. Yeah QH shows it, but just because the family is some clan of Muslims..god knows which one 😆 But yeah, it is definitely not true that hindus aren't allowed to fast and follow customs.. They are not allowed in Mecca only because you have to be fully aware of many things that go on inside and not many non-Muslims know those rules. Just read your edited part, it makes all the more sense now. So beautifully and calmly explained...thanks 🤗

One more...many shows have a god that the lead actress believes in and so they celebrate that particular festival with more fervour than rest..
Saathiya - Gopi is a huge Krishna Bhakt
Madhubala - I think it had a lot of importance for lord Ganesh
Pavitra Rishta - Ganesha again
Sanskaar - Krishna
Qubool Hai/Beintehaan - Muslim festivals
Sasuraal Simar Ka - Mata ki chowki

So it just works that way...and since these are Indian shows ...most families in shows are Gujarati, Punjabi, Marathi and all..

Also Holi/Diwali have become more of generic festivals...many Hindus also do not know why it is celebrated...dont you see those Q/A's on SBS/SBB where all these actors are clueless why they are celebrating festivals...

Ah Thanx a lot Ash...I hope ZaYa continues to be my lucky charm...:)...

You got it wrong...I just said they will have to weave in the premise a month ago..if they show family celebrating..

Again, I meant not following proper norms just ruins any purpose whatsoever nahi? Either do it properly or dont...half-baked attempt makes no sense..

I know I write essays...I dont intend to..but wo itna lamba ho jata hai...😆😆

Btw...Tarak Mehta does celebrate all festivals...even Lohri...Eid ...coz they have Muslim characters present...thats another thing...having characters who follow the religion in the show...

Omg! so true!! I remember watching Kusum with Mom when I was little and they always worshipped Lord Ganesha and I used to wonder why they only worshipped him and ignored other Gods because you know I was stupid as a child 😆 Then I grew up and realized, it is common and that every family is more devoted towards 1 or the other !! Yeah, true that...but didn't Diwali have some significance ? Like one of the goddesses came back home and her entry brings barkat and wealth or something along those lines ?
