Someone recently pointed out to me that the writer or the maker himself is Muslim. It seems like a case of QH again. It might have done them some good to do research before starting this show. While some flaws are easy to overlook others aren't!
1) Muslim men are forbidden from wearing any kind of gold. They are allowed to wear silver, hence in engagement or weddings they are given silver rings not gold. But, Aaliya's parents brought a gold ring for Zeeshan, even though the makers have portrayed them to be religious people.
2) Dowry is haram in Islam. It is completely forbidden. Of course taking few gifts here and there is fine, but making it compulsory is completely wrong. (While I agree dahej is still prevalent in Pakistan and India, maybe the makers could have taken a more positive route and showed something else. ) For example; In Islam, mahr as translated into dowry is a right of a woman, which is hers to take in total and is lawful only for her. It is a compulsory amount of money a husband promises his wife right before he signs the Nikkah. The nikkah cannot happen without the haq-e-mahr. The mahr' amount remains and is considered a debt upon the man until he fulfills this debt in full, or his wife, of her own free will, chooses to forgive it or a part of it.
3) Why was Aaliya's midriff bare? Honestly, this is a Muslim drama! I will forgo the head-covering that she did not do in her own engagement, but the bare midriff? What were the maker's thinking here? This seems simple enough for everyone to get right and yet they still screw it up.
Like a friend said, why is it that when we non-hindus can learn about hindu traditions and customs, then why can't non-muslims learn the beauty of Islam also? Why is it that these creators take on the task of making a show with a muslim background, they fail to convey the distinct differences. To me it seemed like I was watching an Indian show not a Muslim drama, except for the difference of their names being familiar.
If I said something wrong or have misunderstood a concept, please feel free to point it out to me with proper reasoning.
